I spent my Father’s Day getting a new to me 1993 Seadoo XP running. Previous owner thought it was a good idea to bypass the engine cutoff circuit and the safety cutoff as well. It also had a dead starter motor, which I just happened to have laying around the shop. I even got a chance to run it around the lake a little before the sun went down. Now that I have 2 skis, and one single bunk trailer, I need to make me one of these dollies. Well make that 2 dollies so I can swap out skis.
You're going to need a ladder to work on the pwc engine. You'll need to cut the legs in half, to get the ski low enough to work on the engine. Standing on it is not strength test. My PWC weight 850 lbs, try 4 heavy weights jumping on it.
You can make a home made small sand blaster using a Harbor Freight air blower and a 16 oz plastic drink bottle. I use a Sam's Member's Mark Sparkling water bottle, it's fairly thick and if my wife decides to clean up and tosses it on accident, I have easy replacements. I then get sand or walnut media.
Anyone watching please don't trust this, your ski will be on the ground faster than you can blink if you try this! Those wheels maybe support 50 to 75lbs a piece so there's an issue, this screws definitely aren't heavy duty enough to hold a newer ski, 700-800lb range, hell I wouldn't even trust an SP or XP on it and the height is way to high. You'll blow your back out before you lift a ski that high to put it on their......check out 3foot deep productions they have a great write-up on how to build one of these properly. It costs around $110-140 depending on where you price it all together but it is rock solid and it lasts! I built mine years ago and it's still going strong.
So.... because I'm going to be making a few of these for my skis, I thought I would refresh myself on making them. I bought 4 of the 10inch pneumatic tires from Harbor Freight. I don't have a garage to work in, so I'll be moving each one from the back to front driveway. Also my email is zeroequinox@yahoo.com. If you email me back, I'll send pics of the plethora of parts that are taking up every square inch of my 5x8 trailer. And as always man, thank you for the awesome videos you post! I'm really looking forward to turning my ugly ducklings into swans.
