The boys are back and we are building again. There is so much to do and trouble shoot in this little machine.. because the instructions are almost adequate. Let me elaborate. This build is very exciting.. but in classic international instructions.. there are some parts that are not very clear. Now todays video was only 26 minutes long.. but it took us 8 hours to film.. as one of the issues we ran into was the flow of the hydraulic oil. It seemed as there was too much pressure the entire time. We tried to figure it out for hours.. we could not find any where in the instruction on how to adjust oil pressure. Well.. after the boys left.. I found it. There was a pin that needed to be added to the actual pump. This pin was located below the feeder tube from the hydraulic tank.. and BEHIND A SCREW that needed to be removed.
Then, by adding the adjuster, we could adjust the pressure. BUT.. there was also another problem that plagued what we were doing. The hydraulic valves are SO SENSITIVE.. that you need to adjust servo throw end points. If the servo moves too much.. it starts to open the valve and then partially close it again! BAH! This was a nightmare.. and took us HOURS to figure out.
Now..its a matter of playing with the controls to smooth everything out.. But as I film these videos on Saturday, and upload them for Sunday morning.. I did not have enough time to make it finessed. I will do that later this week.
For those that are wondering, this is a kit that I unboxed on my channel a few weeks ago... Here is the link to the original video: • I'M BUILDING an EXCAVA...

The trouble shooting can be the most frustrating but rewarding part of building/fixing/modifying RC. Great job on the build and the friendship on display.

LOT's OF INFO in the video description box. This build video took us 10 hours to film.. and only 25 minutes to post. There are lots of little things not covered in the instructions.. but I hope this video, and description helps those who are also working on this project!

Fantastic !! Btw The pump is a positive displacement type (used on all hydraulic plant systems and others) So what it gets its got to shift (oil) hence the need for a relief valve to stop a motor or other components(hoses, pipes etc) breaking Also return line is smaller then the suction line on most hydraulic systems as the pump via the valve block or relief will "push" the fluid back to tank . The pump is great for pushing but does not suck that well hence the need for a bigger line in (suction)

I've run trackhoes for years many times just loading one truck after another, off road and on road trucks. But at 59 I was running a 470 Hitachi and after 3 months I quit , I wanted to put a bullet in my head out of boredom....LOL...as soon as I started thinking about it in the morning I would start to go insane the money was great but the thrill of running heavy equipment finally wore off. Nice Toys .

WOW, simply amazing! I did not know anything like this even existed. I can only imagine thrir expensive. I was an industrial hydraulics technician for a large part of my life, built machinary for the offshore oil&gas industry. Yep, big, heavy machines. Before I started that I was a tractor and equipment mechanic for 16 years. The attention to detail is uncanny. I've worked on this machines real counterpart. Would love to get my hands on one, kit form only and build it. What a trip that would be. No time soon though as I'm still recovering from lung cancer, beat the cancer but the chemo and radiation beat the hell out of me. Im doing OK, concidering I was given 'about 90 days', hell, its been 5yrs3mths when they said 'CANCER' for the first time. You guys got this under control, theres always adjustments and testing, ya'll look like ya know what your doing. Just for the heck of it Im gonna do a bit of research and find out it theres one in my future. They wont let me work, body is too beat up. I do have a small wood craft shop out back where I spend most of my time, I do pertty decent at craft shows. Love wood working but theres oil in my veins, what can I say.....lol

Another great build episode guys!!! Wonder how the designers didnt figure out the hydraulic line length problem like you did and not fix it in the manual? Great find and letting those following the build know. As a mechanic, please make sure all your cylinders are collapsed when checking your hydraulic fluid level. The rams need to be all the way in to get your full level otherwise you will have a hydraulic spill on the work site from overflowing the tank. Glad you figured out the pressure screw that was in the wrong spot and added it to the end of the video. I spotted it on the tank but waited till the end to see if you guys figured it out.

Loving the build, mine finally came last week so painting this week! You can assign the tracks to the sliders on the radio then assign a flight mode and mix everything so you can have the tracks on the left stick then switch back and have normal digging functions and the sliders will still operate the tracks when in digging mode. It’s a lot of mixing but it works well when it’s done.

A little CA tip, if you are using it on lexan or other clear plastic that can fog white, spray it with some accelerator/kicker and it'll instantly remove the fogging. ;) Another tip many don't know with CA is to keep it in the refrigerator; if you keep it in the refrigerator after it's opened, it'll keep for years without hardening. Edit: I can only vouch for this with Bob Smith Industries (BSI) products. They're the only CA products I've used for years. I would think it would work with other brands as well, though.

Just ran across self centering stick issues myself on a different application. With Spektrum radios at least, there are some adjustment screws inside the radio so if you tighten or loosen, it'll center the stick. Might be a solution for you as well. Only took me six screws to separate my radio

Loved the way your Collie is laying upside down on the sofa, a sign of a dog relaxed in his enviroment. I just knew you could not leave it alone, I could not have either, it is looking good though, so many pipes to position no wonder there was a few mistakes, now will you wait or will you finish it, I would not be able to wait a week to finish this off.

Bwahahahaha!!!!! I would have made the that mistake..... looking killer dude!!! With all that extra space in the counter weight you could add a sound kit to give it that extra touch. Also, I got Lesu’s fuel tanks for my Knight hauler and accidentally got the hydraulic ones, so I made do and added the lines as “fuel lines” and they weren’t that hard to pop on and I didn’t heat them......but I do have a bit of brute side so that may have helped
