My husband and I went to Maine last week. I keep telling him how much all of those homes remind me of Brindleton Bay in the sims. 😂

As a born and raised, lifelong New Englander, Maine is one of my favorite places ever. This brought me so much JOY. And so funny because a lot of houses in New England have got fake shutters, mine included 😂

LOVE the build! Typical Maine home. I vacation a lot in Maine and can see this house there. Few notes about homes in the Northeast. Cellars are typical because it was where you would store most of your root vegetables and canned goods to last you through out the winter. Northeastern homes have a lot of garages (mostly detached) because the vast amount of snow we get during those cold wintery months. Stair cases are typically not open below, because most often that is where the stairs to the cellar/basement would be located, a feature I wish we could do in The Sims4. Downstairs bathroom is adorable, and very standard half-bath. One note, you would want to flip the toilet/commode and the sink, because who wants to look at the toilet/commode when you open a door? Absolutely love your builds. I look forwards to your and many other content creators on RU-vid that make things for TheSims

As an American living in a hurricane prone area, we have storm shutters but they are kept in the garage and we only put them on the house once we know it’s necessary. I agree that fake shutters are weird and don’t really see the point in them but they do add pretty visual interest to a house.
@danielocchicone2152

Beautiful!!!!! You have to build a house in from the town Saddle River, New Jersey. That’s where a some of the battles of the American revolution took place. With a lot of history ofc there are a lot of historical mansions and cottages and some new homes too. Every single home is just a dream.

Fake shutters are indeed very strange and very common! My husband is a carpenter of ten years, and he hates them! Sometimes, there will be real wood blinds/shutters inside of the home in lieu of working outdoor shutters. I assume it's just less expensive this way, not worrying about the outdoor weather.

This makes me think of the time I went to Nantucket during the off season. There is a walking trail called the Bluff Walk that is along the bluff and behind people's houses/gardens. It's a lovely walk but it was so weird seeing so many of the houses boarded up for the coming winter. It was easy to tell which one's were summer residences and which ones people lived in year around.
@FoxrosePettipaw

Being raised in New England this house build was very nostalgic! And the shutters on the windows are usually fake. I don't know why they are but in my mind growing up I always assumed shutters were purely decorative. The fact there's a practical use for real ones tickled me funny for some reason.

Oh, I just want you to build a typical urban Brazilian house SO MUCH!! Most of the urban residences on Brazil have big walls all around the building, for safety purposes, this is normal here, which sometimes is a lot different from other countries' building styles! I would love if you consider make a video building a house from my country 🥰 I LOVE your videos and your personality, they're super enjoyable and fun to watch everytime, perfect for resting time and your buildings are so cozy and beautiful! Thank you for those amazing moments I already had while I was watching your videos ❤😊

When 9/11 happened I was in Missouri and then flags popped up EVERYWHERE! I remember random stores that wouldn't normally sell American flags advertise that they had them. They were ubiquitous after that day and haven't left us since.

I think a really cool google earth build would be either the Mission Point Lighthouse or Grand Traverse Lighthouse in Traverse City, Michigan. I believe they're both set up as museums now, but using one as inspiration for a lighthouse/residential home build would be really interesting!

The funniest thing about the fake shutters is that when a storm hits they're frequently the thing to take damage, and then require repair. It makes me laugh to think a thing so non-functional should be worthy of repair. My mom had them, and she really had great taste, but there's a line it crosses when they're high-maintenance and zero function. My mantra is function before beauty, but both whenever you can get 'em.

Hi. I love watching your Simabilities. Building is my favourite to watch. I have two build challenges to show you. Corners, Corners, and More Corners Challenge: For every corner, you earn X amount of dollars. The Cursive Challenge: Your first name as the 1st floor, middle for second, and last is 3rd...in cursive. Left align. Make rooms by creating a wall/door, etc., where the letters would naturally begin and end. Hopefully you'll like at least one idea. I would be tickled if you chose Cursive. :DDD

My partner and I just got a house in a very regular suburban area and yes, almost every single house has a flag. I'm not American but moved to the Midwest and notice all the cultural differences. As soon as we got the house keys, he removed the national flag and put up a big LGBTQ+ flag instead. I thought you would be pleased. Also, regarding shutters: yep, all the houses in our neighborhood have fake shutters. Including our house. It's just a very common decorative piece around here. Helps break out a bit the brick texture, I guess. Adds detail.

lol, i'm an american, (mixed half korean and black), i think we tend to have a lot of flags because not everyone here are actually ethnically americans. in fact, none are, except for native americans or indigenous people. so we tend to represent our family heritage with flags, and for those who want to be patriotic to a fault, they like to fly the american flag outside their homes to show solidarity, as we are all from different ethnic backgrounds but are united by our Americanness. at least, that's what it should be. hope that gives a little insight as to why we have so many flags all over the place.

I’m originally from New England so this feels like home, I think the shutters thing began when suburban neighborhoods in the 1950s began, shutters reminded people of their ideal chocolate box home, even if they weren’t necessary. Developers started using the fake shutters to play on buyers heartstrings. And we have never been free since

flags are for the aesthetic. my old house looks so fricking cute with a little flag out front. now if it's a blue stripe flag or a trump flag that's an absolute no no, but usually if it is on a cute well maintained house it's just for the vibes. also Maine supremacy !! my favorite state.

If you ever do Georgia (the US state) please don't do a plantation home, do a downtown Atlanta industrial reno! We have a lot of plantation homes here that host events like weddings etc. because they're on beautiful open land, but have a horrifically dark history to them. Meanwhile Atlanta is a thriving artsy mid-to-downtown mecca with cafes, restaurants, bars, and every kind of art studio you can imagine (music recording, theatre clubs, etc) carved out of old factory buildings and warehouses. You can't throw a rock in any direction without hitting a brewery, either.
