Nice job. About to kick off a project at my house. Curious if the welder used was a mig welder using flux core? Also what thickness was the metal? Thank you.

I'm just wondering why you didn't use metal beams for the ceiling joists - you went with timber, which will need maintenance in terms of painting. When you secured the metal welding plate to the column, I assume you set them with a chemical glue? In terms of the column build, I assume they are concrete filled with rebar going through them and anchored into a concrete foundation? Looks nice.

I was wondering if I should use 4x6 like this but does it bend under a load, like could you hang a porch swing off of your longest span? I’m doing a span that is 20’ and I’d hate to see it visibly dip under stress.
