Truly a labor of Love❤ Incredible designed adjustable safety razor! Can't wait to get my hands on this.. Hopefully you can keep up with the strong demand that will come from this.. predicting this will be your all time top seller..
Looks really great. I love your choice of name and inspiration. My SS blackbird needs a friend. I like that you put branding on it. Adjustable weight is a feature that sets you apart and looks great
Thanks, Howard! It's certainly our most complex and ambitious design. We really appreciate early adopters like you who make developing something complicated worthwhile.
I've been holding off on purchasing anything because I bought too many Blackbirds and/or parts; and I wanted to save for this! I'm waiting for the Osprey shave video.
Too many Blackbirds sounds like a good problem to have! Shave footage will surely come. Do you prefer the type where the user talks throughout the shave? Or just some footage of shaving to see how it performs?
Brian at Charcoal did inserts that looked similar but served a different function as his were tritium. You can change mass on any razor by just using a different handle.
Yep Brian's tritium inserts were very cool! Importantly, you can change the mass on any three-piece razor by using a different handle, but not on an adjustable - until the Osprey. With the Osprey, you can adjust the mass with its native handle, or you can even go a step further and use your own handle. That's a level of adaptability and versatility that has never existed on an adjustable until now.
You should definitely come to Taiwan, visit the 101 and pay homage to the tuned mass damper that inspired the Osprey design. When will the Ti version be coming out? 😁
I would love to visit Taiwan and see 101! After stainless launches we roll right into titanium. We don't have a firm ETA yet, but it should be this year.
Just one question because I'm really tempted to buy me one. Usually I'm not a customer for razors in this price range, but followed your video series and just love the effort in engineering on it. My concern was that I can't take it apart for cleaning and even repairing it to a degree myself. Sending it from Europe to USA can be a bummer. But it looks to me like it can be disassemble almost completely, besides maybe the knob? Is it? Would love to see that, plus maybe the option to buy just parts IF something happens. Again love what you and your team have brought to light. The weight in the handle idea is mind blowing. Just one wish, a flat bottom on the handle. Sometimes I like to put the razor straight up but I don't like razor stand. Keep up the great work 😁👍🏻
Thanks so much for the thoughtful response and for watching this series! The only area inaccessible for cleaning is the inside of the base plate assembly where the spring is. It's a very small space. We hope to offer a disassembly tool in the future that will allow users to access this space. For now, that is the one part of the razor that is not able to be disassembled. The bottom of the razor is totally flat! It stands up proudly with or without a stand. Thanks again!
it looks like a great machine and if it is the same effective as the blacbert titanium that I have, I will be tempted to buy it!! when will it go into production??
Thank you! We're in the final R&D stages creating a production game plan. There is a small number of final hurdles to cross before we are able to give production the green light. We expect that to happen within days.
Honestly looks incredible, although the idea of trying to dry/clean the handle is a little triggering for me 😂. Is there a finish in the brass insert to try and help minimise patina? What kind of length are we talking, voth if the handle qnd overall?
Thanks for the kind words! Cleaning the handle is actually super easy. The slots and hollow void accept a q-tip nicely. And it's cool because once the insert is removed you can even fully clean the threads since that's a through-hole. I haven't tested it yet, but I'd imagine that you could throw the stainless handle (no insert) in a dishwasher and get great results. I'll try that at some point. The handle is 82mm and the overall length is ~103mm. Keep in mind that the handle doesn't include the knob which could be considered to be part of the "visual" handle.
Love the way you think! Yep, that's definitely on the agenda for the future. The handle insert gives us a ton of optionality for developing future versions. We don't have anything set in stone, but it's safe to say that additional inserts which impact both aesthetics and function will be coming down the road.
Who cares about the handle, when you can use whatever handle you like. I'm using my titanium Timeless Crown handle with pretty much every razor I own regardless of the material of the head and if possible, I just buy the head alone without the handle. If anything, if they sell just the adjustable head without the handle, that would be awesome and cheaper too.
Sorry to hear that! We don’t have any plans to produce this razor with another handle or to offer the head by itself. However, the Osprey in the ability for the user to swap handles so you can always use your own preferred handle.
@@blacklandrazorswould this ever be possible to make the entire razor out of brass, or are the tolerances so high and the idea that brass is a soft metal that it wouldn't be possible?
@@kma5699 Sorry I missed this comment! A full brass Osprey is possible, I believe. We have no immediate plans, but I can't think of a reason that it wouldn't be doable.
Hope your Osprey is better then the Military Version, I said this as the Navy/USMC Version don't have great safety record, it has crashed many times, and killed many crew n passengers. Razor look like it could be WINNER. Price point of Razor is? Approx?
Thanks for the kind words! We’re also hoping our Osprey proves to be a bit more reliable than the aircraft 🫣. Price will be announced before we launch. Expect quite a premium price.
@@blacklandrazors Well looking at your new Razor I am very interested in offering. Hope you get it out before Christmas, as I like the idea of Adjustable. Think adjustable is like have one Razor do job of Razors with different degrees of aggressiveness. Are you planning on painting or powder coating numbers so they are east to read?
@@CocoboloCowboy The Osprey will definitely launch well before Christmas! We will not be painting the numbers at launch, but it's possible that we may add this as an option in the future. It's more laborious than we had hoped for.
Wow awesome i hope the price is reasonable ❤I saw in the video If I'm not mistaken that in order to change the slider you have to unscrew the handle about a turn, I think this should be corrected and not stay that way.
Reasonable is in the eye of the beholder. It will certainly be a premium price point, but the innovation and detail we think justifies the price. You have to unlock the handle to adjust the setting and then tighten to lock it in. This is similar to Gillette adjustables like the Slim. This is a design decision that we made which ensures that the setting is locked and cannot be accidentally adjusted while shaving. Because it's an intentional feature and not an error or mistake, it's not something that requires correcting. Thank you!
@@blacklandrazors i understand all that thanks for answering but if i have a soap in my hand it’s difficult to adjust the settings because the razor is it can slip and fall out of my hands, but you know better I made a well-intentioned observation since I have five blackland razors.
@@dimitrisvars9867 I appreciate the feedback! Mid-shave adjustment has been pretty easy, but soapy hands certainly don't mix well with operating the knob.
