We're getting close! The Sabre's handle and stand are complete. Fine tuning and production planning are the only things left in our way. www.blacklandrazors.com
Love the head design and the storage stand, Shane. I have a handle aesthetic opinion. Please don’t be offended… something about the handle seems “stocky” relative to the very sleek head design. The handle segments seem somehow bulky to my eye. Not in keeping with the head.
I am anxiously awaiting the pre-order. My feedback for the handle would be to go a touch slimmer or sleeker. I understand and do appreciate the more masculine lines, but it does seem a tad bit chunky to me. Now, that being said, the baseplate is genius. And I absolutely love the design and style of the head. Great work Shane!
This! This is one of the reasons I believe Blackland is one of the very best razor companies around. Take a great product and find ways to make it better, the included level adjustment plate and a place to store it, new handle design with balance factored in, not only making changes to enhance sales to to better performance but also to enhance styling and comfort for the user! Blackland is not resting on success but constantly improving on it. This type of business mentality will keep Blackland relevant for many years. I bought my first Blackbird off of kickstarter and it has the classic Blackbird coating, I have five other Blackland razors and really only rotate through those now.
This looks awesome. I really appreciate the attention to detail. I do love the look and feel of the sleek Vector handle (and use similar handles on my razors) but I really like the features of the hollow handle base and stand. It looks much more elegant floating above it. The storage for the spare components is top notch (so many other razors have small parts with no place to put or secure them. Being someone who often adjusts razors, I can’t be more thankful with the design intent. I often feel like the GEM blades need small gap when sharp and can gradually open the gap with successive shaves. I can’t wait to do that with this. I’m hoping a slim handle option or “hollowed vector” handle could be an option, and then this might be my forever last razor haha (honestly). Cheers
Wow , I am impressed, definitely moving in the right direction, the stand with dual purpose storage. Semi hollow handle, the overall weight. The profile looks really sleek. I have never owned a Gem razor, maybe this one might tempt me. Keep up the good work 👍
I think some horizontal grooves/rings would be nice for where the fingers grip. I find the Blackbird handle wants to slide down, nothing stops it. Same with the EJ 3one6 handle
It's great that you are offering titanium pre-order at the same time as the SS version. Very innovative with the baseplate and stand design! It now really does make sense to order the stand if it now will store the extra baseplate!
Am with some of the other posts regarding the handle. A bit too masculine, I preferred to curve of the original handle, plus, someone mentioned the grip looking akin to motor windings.... Can't seem to get that image out of my head tbh! Am looking forward to trying the finished product! 👍
The safety bar holder under the stand is brilliant. I actually think the razor looked better with the sleeker vector handle. The handle looks too segmented and bulky.
I made a comment a couple of days ago about the grip section of the handle reminding me of an armature of a DC motor. I posted a link of a pic but it got removed for some reason.
Looks very nice and precise, I own the Osprey, Blackbird, Dart. And the Vector so I will probably be ordering the Sabre depending on price, and shipping too the uk Atb Paul
Thanks for your support! Every razor we make comes with a specific designed handle for it and we don't provide the option of switching between them. So the Sabre won't be offered with the Blackbird handle.
The most beautiful GEM style razor is Paradigm. The pattern on that handle reminds me of Dark Souls 3. Nevertheless I'm glad that Gem are still getting developed by those very few appassionate legends.
Hello, for those who have several days of beard... have you ever thought of producing an open comb version of this already extraordinary piece?!?! thanks in advance, if you will answer me😉👋🏻
@@blacklandrazorsfirst of all thank you very much for your availability... if I understood correctly, what is certain is that if it went into production the open comb version would only consist of the base plate, sold as a separate accessory and you would already have the closed comb combo at least initially, probably to check the saleability, then based on the success achieved, a parallel production will be evaluated, the best would be to have more than one base plate with different effectiveness and choose at the moment which one is most suitable...dreams...dreams ...hahaha🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝🙈🙉🙊🐵🐒🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙏🏻 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🙃🙃 🙃🙃🙃😬😬😬😬😬
If you really care about people's feedback regarding your products and not get offended then here is my 2 cents of opinion. The design of the handle for me sorry to say but doesn't remind me blackland. It reminds me Chinese and Indian brands razor handles. I'm not sure why you did the bar so small piece but I'm sure there is a big risk loosing that piece. Also can easily go down to sink dranes. The head is too wide from the razor edge to the back unless if it gets the whole DE blade. Also the fact that the thread is flat instead of round will cause at some point someone to thread it in angle and ruin the threads.
Thanks for your feedback! Happy to address those concerns. -The handle pulls from previous Blackland designs. But handle design is subjective so your view is perfectly fair. - The safety bars are small because they need to be. Of course, there is some risk of losing them, but they're unlikely to fall down a drain. - This razor is a GEM razor and does not accept DE blades. So the head is the size it is because that's the size of the blade it uses.
