HEY FAIR WARNING TO ANYONE WATCHING THIS - if you buy the same microphone used in this video, it's a TOP ADDRESS mic which means you should be talking into the top of it rather than the side as shown here. Not a big deal and overall really good video on a nice budget setup, but be careful to use your microphone properly so that you can get the most out of it. Much love y'all.

No need to have all of that set up. I have a HDMI to USB 3.0 Video Capture Card (chaired on the market for roughly $13) that streams in 4K at 60fps. Plug that into the laptop with the HDMI cord and plug that cord to the Switch dock. I hope that helps.

Meanwhile for the past month I’ve only been using: - Elgato HD60X - Nintendo Switch model HAC-001(-01), docked with official Nintendo Switch dock, AC Adapter and HDMI cable - MacBook Air 15.3” (M2 chip, 2023 model), base 256GB SSD with only 8GB RAM Space Grey - MagSafe 3 to USB-C cable connected to Apple branded compact duel USB-C port 35W power adapter - ANKER 555 USB-C Hub (8-in-1) - PDP Airlite Wired Headset with built-in microphone (made primarily for the Nintendo Switch, but also works for any other device that uses/has a 3.5mm headphone jack port), connected directly to my MacBook Air via the headphone jack port - OBS Studio (for Silicon based MacOS), for streaming and recording to my RU-vid channel (same account as the one I’m typing this out from) I haven’t needed to get the Egato Prolink cable but I might do so simply for an extension cord for the PDP headset 🤷🏻‍♀️

Oh I have the same capture card, you can actually open up audio settings in the capture card via windows control panel and set it so that you listen to the device, also OBS monitoring as well. no need for the extra audio cable :)

Yes that works, only thing is the switch doesn't have a mic built in so using the chat link gives a huge benefit here so you can be heard if using game/party chat.

i went so far back looking for a switch setup video and its the newest one lol. sadly it doesnt talk about OBS or Windows. I'm having an issue where the sound coming out of the switch nothing but crackles. im thinking it has something to do with the "grounding" part you mentioned, but my elHD60S+ doesnt have one of those switches.

@@MidnightMan I’m slowly progressing, using a cane to walk, I haven’t drove since the stroke. Tomorrow will be 7 months since the stroke happened. I’m thankful for life, people die from strokes. I’m still waiting for my disability money to kick in. I’m praying that I get it soon. Tomorrow I’m thinking about doing a stream, I see what happens tomorrow, if I do, I’ll let you know. This method I’m quite certain the game audio won’t be able to be captured as the audio will flow through the usb headset instead of the TV or chat link. You may have to get a headset that works with chat link in order to chat and record all your audio

When I record regular gameplay that I do solo, I use a set of headphones a usb mic an get to work. What I'm saying is if I plug the usb mic into my dock(with chat link still hooked up) would it capture my voice the same as a headset will?

So the headphones you’re using do not have a mic then? And the microphone you want to use for chat? What will be used for commentary then. If that’s the USB mic, then you’ll want that plugged into the computer, not the dock

You do not need the chat link at all. The audio can be pulled from the HDMI. You may just have to add an audio source in OBS.

I was really hoping you could show a way to view the Streamlabs software and gameplay separately.. like I'm streaming through the software but I have the ability to play my game without my video of myself in the way or only being able to play the game in the software where it looks so much smaller... idk if that's possible but I hate having so much going on around my game or on it.

If I’m understanding you correctly, you do NOT want to play your game from the computer. There is a natural delay, you want to view your game from your monitor or TV outputting the console video feed directly.

I have 2 monitors and would like one to have the Streamlabs setup and the other to have my game full screen so I can actually see what I'm playing without the Streamlabs software obstructing my view and having to play my game through the tiny window in the streaming software with my head also in the way. lol idk if that's possible or even makes sense. lol

Totally! Audio can be passed over HDMI through the capture card. The computer your gaming on must have the capture card set as the audio output device via OS settings essentially.

Dual core is not powerful enough, you’ll need a better computer. Any of the silicon Macs are good to stream on

curious to why you are using the 3.5mm cord, hdmi carries audio and video it should be sending all of it through the one cable. is it just not supported in that capture card? my buddy has the elgato HD60s and can just use hdmi

Yes you can use just HDMI, but since the switch has no built in microphone, using the chat link cable gives you the option to connect a microphone w/ headset to be able to chat with people if you want to.

I would double check your cables and connections, make sure everything is hooked up correct and that you're not passing a higher refresh than what you're capture card/monitor can handle.

I promise it’s worth learning because 2 months from now after someone sets it up one of your kids will accidentally pull something now you can stream for 4 months till someone comes to help you lol
