Made it here from Blacktail. I'm a consultant and know all too well the impostor syndrome of dealing with people who earn a kajillion times as much as me and make it look easy. Let me say from this work and video making: Cam was lucky to work with *you*.
Cam seems like a stellar dude. I love his work and videos. But resin tables are resin tables. And that IS craftsmanship. But what you are found doing over here on your channel is often extremely impressive to me. I’m a graduate of James Krenov’s College of The Redwoods, and a longtime woodworker. I don’t get impressed very easily. Keep it up Brother.
@@SawyerDesign it was the year after krenov retired. He still came around occasionally. Laura was in her 2nd year and not yet on staff. So it was Michael Burns, Dave Welter, Jim Budlong, Greg Smith (f’ing genius) and Eijler Hjorth-Westh. It was a great experience but you are beyond anything they could teach you in a school. Honestly.

Don't know how I tripped into watching this collab but wow on both parts of this table/wall art. Not a wood worker but enjoy watching the process. The starburst pattern reminds me of some fabric piecing I've done for quilts. I love the way it looks and believe it would make a beautiful table top. Sorry I missed out on the giveaway. Right on.. both videos were good. I thoroughly enjoyed your perception of the " failure " project.. seems you know there is no such thing as failure unless you fail to learn something.. some lessons are more costly than others.. you both are wonderful and creative craftsmen. ❤

Honestly, I would be happy with either, but have really enjoyed working with slabs. Seriously I am just blown away watching your videos, as well as Cams. We all already won.

Sunburst , truly unbelievable. The Magic is in where the bent lamination comes to meet the bottom how flawless it looks, melts right into the bottom. I would be proud to show off that show piece.

Saw your collab with Blacktail. I love the table and am not phased at all about the concerns you both had with the end result. I know makers are really hard on themselves; I'm a part-time photographer and am super exacting about my deliverables. Still, you both create beautiful and functional art. Keep doing it!
Sunburst all the way. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a beautiful slab done correctly, but I agree that well done veneer looks amazing and has been given a bad rap with cheap press board furniture. Great job on the base, you are one of the few makers that I love to watch grow in your craft.
No Patch … I love your bow tie inlays and enjoy watching the skill required to make them look sharpe. I think I would like the patch work with a different colour or a variety of exotics. But great video!

Radial match veneer top. I fell in love with Cam's design style and videos a while ago, and have made a few live edge epoxy table tops now. Very fun, and quite pleased with the result. Radial matched veneer though? Oh god. A bit out of my skill level to say the least. So much respect for those that attempt/succeed at that. That said, your channel has been awesome as its made me look at design in a different way. I've found a marriage between clean-lined mid-mod/modern design and elegant details that I didn't really think about before you. Thanks :)

SUNBURST - Love the table and I think the little wobble is totally livable for what it is. The whole art vs craft thing you were talking about. Definitely a mixture and therefor loses some utility. Anyways, great job I love it!
Slab. Have to say never thought much of veneer, but after being connected to Sawyer Design from Blacktail Studio’s channel my mind is starting to change. Both looked great; no matter what version it was.
Amazing craftsmanship and design from you both! You can try using a larger diameter steel pole and fill the lower half with concrete to add mass which would add stability. The top steel plate at least 75% of the finish top diameter will help with flexing. From one woodworker to another. Hope this helps, keep up the great work.
SUNBURST: I guess my choice comes down to what you asked about art vs craft. If I’m looking for utility I would choose the slap because it would hold up better to my life demands but esthetic reasons I would definitely take the sun burst. Knowing how rough my wife and son are on furniture, I worry about a thin veneer, but fuck it, I choose art, give me the sun burst! Great video! As cabinetry apprentice, I’ve reached the point of failure in my ability a few times, but it was nice to hear your positive take on it, I’ll try to remember that next time I mess something up.
SLAB! As much as I Love your channel, that slab top is absolutely breathtaking! I wouldn't care about the wobble, Cam is a genius. You are both at the top of my very short list of RU-vid subscriptions. I don''t comment very often, but I have watched every one of yours😊🤩☺ & Cam's videos.

SUNBURST: Cam's slab tables are absolutely gorgeous certainly, but I prefer that look for longer more rectangular tables. That sunburst pattern just screams out for a table like this. Excited to see the final table reveal either way though, glad there are people with a more creative eye like you and Cam out there making beautiful tables.
The contrast between the natural shapes in the table top, and your very structured base, is striking. You make gorgeous furniture and I enjoy watching your design and build processes. (I enjoy watching you, too: you're so cute and you have a lovely voice!) Version 2 is definitely better than Version 1, and I like the 'dove wings' pattern much more than the sunburst, which I've seen used in lots of places... Dove wings is more innovative 😎. Keep doing what you do, you'll go down in future furniture design books, I reckon!
Slab but the sunburst gives you the option to do some really cool stuff. Thank you for your great videos. It is very apparent that you put a lot of time and effort into your videos and they are so fun to watch. Your dedication to your videos is matched by your creativity and execution in making your pieces. Can't wait till the next one. And, it will be great to see what Cam comes up with.
