You two were really born to be Alaskans. Not only have you survived the difficulties imposed by Alaska on non Alaskans but you thrived and prospred dear Eric and Arielle. Highly improbable tasks and projects seem play to you now. So l will say again what l told you two before that you can do anything you set your hearts on. Salute.

Nothing more rewarding than sawing your own logs for your projects. And keep those used blades handy and be sure to give them a good wipe with some WD-40 lots of life left in those. Put the sharpener and setter on the Christmas wish list. You guy rock, and let’s hear a big Whoot Whoot for the tractor. Looking forward to the next video.
@johncollins719
@johncollins719 11 месяцев назад
Used motor oil on a rag to wipe the blades down. A couple felt wipes rubbing the blade with a drip of diesel mounted on the mill will prevent (minimize) the sap buildup on the blades. Woodmizer has a franchise in Anchorage. They may offer sharpening. Much cheaper than buying the equipment given the number of bands they are likely to use.

To save your back mount a 2000lb electric winch above the log deck with about 8' of chain on it. Wrap it twice around the log and it won't slip or put marks in a finished side. Worked a treat on the 120+ year old circular sawmill I had a chance to run. Also a leaf blower is your best friend after milling for cleanup before everything freezes. 👍

That opening sequence! 😍 Seriously, I feel if you two ever need a screen free break, just create a few 20 minute videos like that, schedule them to show while you're on your holiday, and I'd be happy. 😅 I can't speak for everyone, but pretty sure I'm not the only follower who gets a lot of joy and peace from your nature footage. I would miss your builds though. I can't believe how much you got done so far! Talk about not letting the short summers and longer winters stop you from getting things done.
