In this video I build a bookcase for a local clients media room. This project might look complicated but the assembly of this is very simple and easy.
Follow along to see how I use this 1 x 12 primed pine, a brad nailer and miter saw to make this 80" x 120" built in.

Fits well into my space, I painted the back green. It's very easy to customize just the back if that's something you want to do. I would suggest sanding it first before painting, I got a little impatient. The shelves ru-vid.comUgkxM8H4CjCb79vzeyvgaFMdzmLm88oVFPMkare pretty small so keep that in mind if you're going to have it horizontal that some books won't fit. I like the snug look that it has. Good small shelf if you don't have much space, but not too small. Simple to put together, though you'll need your own tools, a screwdriver and a mallet/hammer, it's easiest to do with another person.

This is a valuable addition to my woodwork collection ru-vid.comUgkxbnOKZBE4evMO5V2vroHeCjq6d_MV6wJO I still will rate this woodwork plan as the best in my reference library. It always seem to stand out from the rest whenever you go through the library. This is a masterpiece.

what i have noticed is that everyone complimented you on the craftsmanship and the tutorial. although those are wonderful and make the video enjoyable to watch, the thing that caught my attention was how you kept saying that you were making everything easier for the painter, as well as the extra details you paid attention to so that the customer was happy with the final product. in a world where customer service is practically obsolete, its nice to see someone who understands the value of it. well done, sir. well done.

Now THIS is how to make an effective RU-vid video - no annoying music, clearly articulated instruction, great video angles and clarity. Well done, Sir. As to the bookshelf; beautiful indeed. Looks way more 'expensive' with the wide vertical pillars. Would have loved to have seen it once installed and items on the shelves in your customers house. As to a comment below, yes, a bit of lighting would really add some dynamics to this unit. WELL DONE! Cheers from Canada......

Winner of a video, I have been researching "build your furniture" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Venoffison Wooden Exploration - (search on google ) ? Ive heard some amazing things about it and my cousin got excellent success with it.

Love it when someone says these types of shelves are really simple so anyone can build them; no they're not. It's only your good work ethic and attention to detail that makes it look easy. The hardest things to make and really look good are the simplest things, with no fancy molding to hide gaps and flaws. Great project. Total respect.

totally agree; he knows what he is doing and is very meticulous as you need to be for everything to line up. He makes it look simple, but until you try to make the cuts fit as his does, it is difficult to appreciate how challenging this can be.

my wife wants something similar to this, so thank you for showing how you did it. instead of middle shelving, we're going to get one of those electric heaters (*because they look cool*) with a TV above it. so this is very helpful!

Awesome job mate.. 👏 I made something similar that took about 7 working days but I sprayed it also and had bottom cabinets on each side with shaker glass doors. One thing I do with making shelves look thick is use 1/2 plywood for top and bottom and flush up a block to fill the void of whatever size shelf I'm making and edge band it. Comes out super clean no miter breaking and it's pretty quick and gives the appearance of one solid piece.

It is finish that decides how it looks. A good finish such filling spaces, getting good registration and being square makes all the difference. It can make a simple project look very high quality.

I made a wall-to-wall bookcase in my office/library. I used a Kreg jig and it made it so much easier to attach the shelves to the vertical panels. I was very happy with it considering I had never made a bookcase before. I really enjoyed your video. You showed all the steps and no annoying high-pitched woman singing in the background. You inspired me to make a similar unit for my living room to surround our TV!

It definitely makes like easier when doing something this large, i am very thankful for it. Usually I would do a project like this on site if I had the time. If you pick your dimensional lumber right you could basically do this with just a miter saw and brad nailer.
