Jesse, thanks for the video. Helped a lot. Customized 13’ for full sized built ins. Middle unit built specifically for the PS5, PS4, Switch, and my 4K player. Added 2 almost full height bookcases in each side for my wife’s million books. Your construction methods are spot on. Thanks again.

My husband is very handy and has built many things throughout the years but we are taking on a project like this in our home that is being built and I want it perfect. Your video is very helpful in highlighting things that might be forgotten or not considered for your everyday cabinet maker. Love it. Content much appreciated.

Looks awesome mate💯 I actually decided today to make a shelf for under the tv. So had some pine shelf really thick. About an inch and a half thick and 40 inches long. Just need to sand and remove the previous darker coat. And I have clear coat for pine which makes it more of an orange tone... Really looking nice. And triangles at the bottom for support

I like the alternating shelf colors -some wall color, some cabinet color. I also caught the heat register - I built a kitchen cabinet on wheels, I never did put the bottom front piece on but I’ve since moved it and it’s over a register so the heat filters out ... good thing I never put that piece on. I’d have made a piece to blend that in but it still looks great.
@JessedoesDIY
@JessedoesDIY 2 года назад
Thanks! Was just a little something to differentiate them a bit so it wasn't so bland, but didn't scream "look at me" also. Yeah the register was in the way but it was easy to get around, she didn't want anything crazy so just a decorative metal cover for it. Thanks for watching!

Love this - quick questions: 1. Did you attach the bookshelves to the butcher block or just that top piece? 2. Did you attach the base cabinets to the wall anywhere else than the top piece? 3. Out of curiosity, why didn't you go with a toekick?
@JessedoesDIY
@JessedoesDIY Год назад
Thanks! 1. I didn't attach them to the block top. I had the material to do it, was just going to be a dowel drilled into the top, and then up into the face frame. But it was already so solid with the face frame keeping the sides rigid, they decided it wasn't needed. 2. The base cabinets just got a couple pan head screws into a wall stud through the rear nailer plate in the cabinet like I showed. That's more than anough. They were also screwed to eachother once installed through the face frame. 3. Just a design choice. They went with a flat front, with the option to continue the baseboard across it at a later date if they wanted

I'm curious about the cabinet doors. Did you build the cabinets to match a door you could preorder and use? Or did you make the doors too? I would like to build a built in in my basement but I'm not sure how to handle cabinet doors or drawers. I'm not confident I can make a drawer or cabinet door. Any advice?
@JessedoesDIY
@JessedoesDIY Год назад
I built the doors myself. I have a video on my channel of how I make simple pocket doors and how to measure for them. I also have another video on how to measure and build pocket hole drawers. Check them out, I lay it all out as easily as I could!

Installed on top of the carpet? I’m getting ready to make already built shelves look built in - wondering if I should pull back the carpet.
@JessedoesDIY
@JessedoesDIY Год назад
We did her yup, but you could do either or. They were going to be replacing it in the future, didn't know with what. They also didn't know if they wanted to pull back the carpet so we just didn't. Up here anyway it'll help keep the floor warmer in the winter like a little insulation. If they want it removed later, the cabinets come out easy enough

Phenomenal job by the way. What is the size of the cabinets? Are they 12 inch deep or 16 inch?

looks amazing. what would the estimated cost (parts & labor) be for something like this?
@JessedoesDIY
@JessedoesDIY Год назад
Thanks! I can't remember parts cost on this note, it's been a few years. I think it was $7-800 and labor is all dependant on where you live

I’m confused if you routed a 1/4” rabbet into the back and then used 1/4” foot plywood wouldn’t it then just set flush with the wall causing the problem you were attempting to avoid?
@jss9847
@jss9847 Год назад
How to reach outlets from above the base cabinet? What were outlets used for?

The outlet is only available in the base cabinet, correct? What will be placed in the base cabinet that uses electric outlet?
@JessedoesDIY
@JessedoesDIY Год назад
The outlet on that wall is in the base now, yes. She uses it for charging things sometimes, I'm sure she uses it for more I'm just not sure what

HELP! I Have an important question for you. I'm building a house and I would like the do the craftman style door trim and window trim. How far should the top piece of trim hang over? Some say 1/2 inch some say 3/8. I need any advice i can get. Thank you so much in advance
@FoxFireFarm
@FoxFireFarm 2 года назад
Sorry! I just found your video on it. So you think 3/4 inch off each side. Our top piece of trim is a little bit wider then the rest of the trim
@JessedoesDIY
@JessedoesDIY 2 года назад
It's entirely up to you. Like I said, I did 3/4" when my top and bottom trim was wider then the sides. But when I did them all with the same trim I did 1/2". It's all what looks good to your eye, there is no code for it

Is building on carpet okay or should I rip the carpet first and build a box frame?
@JessedoesDIY
@JessedoesDIY Год назад
Right on the carpet is just fine in this case, nothing is hot. If I had an embedded fireplace or something I'd rip it up. Or if it was going to be replaced in the future, I'd rip it up first and the new carpet can go up to the cabinets

Regular Kreg pocket screws at the recommended lengths the call for based on material. In this case, 1 1/4"

What is that Long impact driver bit holder?😊 I mean I Can see it is a bit extender. But what brand and length is it?
@JessedoesDIY
@JessedoesDIY 7 месяцев назад
I don't like bit extenders usually because the bit always stays in the screw. It's just a 6" long bit the goes straight into the drill. You can find them at most places with all the bits
@ALJessica
@ALJessica 7 месяцев назад
@@JessedoesDIY okay thanks :) is it a standard bit or for an impact driver?☺️
@JessedoesDIY
@JessedoesDIY 7 месяцев назад
They are made for impact use, but it's a standard 1/4" chuck. It can fit in drills, impacts, screwdrivers. They all use the same connector
