I mean, the wheeljack in the 5 pack is just the earthrise one with some new paint but if we’re exclusively talking about making a skybound shelf you don’t need anyone else (except jazz) from the pack so just stick with earthrise
The artist for the comic, Daniel Warren Johnson, has his own RU-vid channel and has talked about which toys he used to base the characters on. Masterpieces, third party toys, you'd be surprised what the actual shelf consists of!
The funny thing is that, since the Ark didn´t fix Jazz, the origins vehicle mode makes more sense than the one he has in the comic. Btw, they didn´t say Titan class Devastator is coming, but SS86 listings now include Deluxes for Scavenger and Bonecrusher (both arms) and Voyagers of Scrapper and Mixmaster (both legs) so it might end that size. Also, I wonder if any of the TFOne figures will work for a Skybound shelf...
You know, I never thought of that! Cliff, Jazz, and Arcee should all still have their Cybertronian modes. I guess Ratchet just really got into car magazines. Someone else told me about the 86 Constructicons. I must have gotten things mixed up, but I honestly prefer it that way. It makes looking forward of future waves more exciting, and it wouldn’t hurt your wallet as much in the short term. Also, good point about TFOne figures! That Optimus from Studio Series looks really good, I could see it working out. At the end of the day, the only thing that matters about your personal shelf is if you like the figures or not. This vid is just my silly personal opinion.
Really appreciate you sticking with 1st party figures! 3rd party ones might be a bit more accurate, especially Prime since he's based off of one, but it's nice to keep this list assigned to toys that are actually easy to get.
That was a big deal to me in this video. I had someone point out that Masterpieces/3rd party would be the most accurate, but a collection of them could run hundreds, even thousands of dollars at this point. Besides, I’m more of a Mainline person anyway.
It's the same as the Netflix, but more accurate color way, and core class rumble thrown in. Also, you can get the nemesis bridge set, with the GORGEOUS ER Meg's, Netflix soundwave, and shockwave without the leader fluff. For that matter a similar autobot set, with ss86 jazz with no clear plastic, a beautiful earthrise prime, with white legs, and mainframe that turns into teletran, so all 3 of those fit, plus the bridge crew gives you everyone since shockwave just showed up, and megs will show up. Also, there's the ss86 constructions coming soon, ss86 bee and blaster are already in people's hands. Not to mention leader class ss86 megs coming next year, and commander class ss86 prime will be dropped next month.
It’s insane how fast stuff gets announce and comes out. When I made this video, we didn’t even have photos of SS86 Bumblebee yet! Also, you’re totally on point about the bridge three packs.
I can see it. I definitely prefer that Cliff due to not having translucent plastic, but the darker red hit my eye better for a comic shelf. At the same time, I think that’s a color choice that will change from person to person. Even still, Buzzworthy’s great.
I loved all the Transformers comics but IDW and DW are still my favorite Skybounds good but I'm just loved the Art an story's of IDW. Just fount the War for Cybertron comic prequel to the game was not aware how much it was worth I got it at a comic shop in the Transformers older comics bin. Also the Cybertron Graphic Novel all about Vector Prime pretty awesome.
IDW 1.0 is always going to be my favorite continuity, and Dreamwave was a delight. I forget about the WFC comics, but they were awesome! I remember the storyline where it was basically Ultra Magnus and the Dinobots going around fighting Shockwave.
I'm actually started building my own Skybound Autobot team recently. I'm also doing some mods (mostly cosmetics) to make them almost accurate to the comic. I'm using: -Earthrise Cliffjumper. I removed the emblem on the hood and placed a new one on on the rooftop/chest. I even made the arms more accurate by removing the paint on the shoulders and repaint the forearms. Would have saved me a lot of work if I have gotten Buzzworthy Cliffjumper instead. Oh well. -SS86 Ratchet. I erased the emblem on the shoulders entirely, making it very accurate to the comic. I'm considering painting over the windows on the side in white (except on the driver's side and the front passenger's side) to match his vehicle mode in the comic. -SS86 Jazz. I bought a knockoff ToyHax sticker sheet just to spice up the look so he'd be less boring. I even gave him a miniature shotgun because that's his main weapon in the comic. -SS86 Arcee. I originally wanted to use my MMC Reformatted Azalea as the team's Arcee, but then I decided to buy SS86 Arcee just because that Arcee is much more accurate in design. I did made some minor change on her face. I removed her lips and sculpted a new lips that more accurate to the comic. Unfortunately I have to remove the pink paint on her face. And since I don't have any matching paints, I have to wait at least by the end of the month to get the paints I need. -Netflix Wheeljack. Unfortunately I couldn't get either Earthrise OR Kingdom version of him as they're either out of stock OR marked up at a Leader class price, so I ended up with the Netflix version. For Optimus, I originally considering getting the Earthrise version since it's getting a reissue. But now I decided to cancel that as I've planned on waiting for SS86 Optimus that should be out by the end of this year or next year. And I might get Siege Jetfire since he's also getting a reissue this year alongside Earthrise Optimus. As for Decepticon, I have a great difficulty trying to build that team since most of the ones that I wanted to get are either too expensive or sold out.
That’s an awesome collection! I wouldn’t worry to much about your Decepticons, though! Aside from Reflector, all those guys are evergreen! You’ll get a chance to pick up a version of them before too much longer, I’m sure!
Hey, I remembered you talking about Decepticons. I was the Big Bad Toy Store today, and I saw a three pack called “Transformers Dramatic Capture Series Nemesis Bridge” The three pack has Earthrise Megatron, Siege Soundwave, and Netflix Soundwave (Laserbeak included) all bundled together with new paint jobs, and includes a throne for Megatron. If you were looking for those characters in particular or those molds, that might be an interesting set to look into!
Skywarp and Thundercracker are very hard to find as of right now because of the aftermarket. Worse they were Target exclusives. Hopefully they get re-released individually in Studio Series 86 .
That would be awesome! Maybe like a five pack so you can get the initial Autobot line-up with more comic-based paints jobs? I need Arcee to turn into a Lamborghini!
Buzzworthy Cliffjumper Autobot multipack Wheeljack Autobot multipack Jazz LG Arcee 86 Ratchet with Toyhax cel shaded window stickers Earthrise Optimus with Toyhax window stickers and Megatron’s cannon
0:19 man i got lucky that my lcs pulls a copy of all variants of each issue/month and gives them all to me for cover price which never happens with 1:10s 1:25s ect., Void rivials as well. I just dropped in the month before #1 came out and hes always had them all waiting for me no matter when i show up each month. Got very lucky it seems lol awesome story so far
It’s been an amazing book, and the best part of it is that it’s such a great introduction to Transformers. I have so many friends like you that were only Marvel or DC people, but this book was able to get on their radars.
I saw that! I intend to make an update of this video to include the newer characters, but that won’t be out for awhile. But still, in two months I now need to include Astrotrain, Shockwave, and the Combaticons! That’s not even getting into Void Rivals brining in Springer and Rodimus.
That is totally on point! The only reason I shied away from it is the figure doesn’t perfectly match with ER Skywarp and Thundercracker and doesn’t have a full trio of his own. That said, I think you’re completely right that Coronation Screamer is just an outright replacement for Earthrise Starscream.
I have found this series SO AMAZING!! I have been lucky enough to find the comics at my local comic store, and I have been reading them all, I sadly only have one figure that would work on a skybound shelf though (legacy Elita-1)
Hey, any figure you want works on your shelf. If you have an Optimus, you don’t have to match it to mine. All of this is my opinion, but your collection is whatever you want it to be. I’m just happy more people are enjoying the series.
I have Siege [as well as G2 and Reactivate] Optimus, Legacy G2 Jazz, Earthrise Arcee, Bumblebee [as well as 86] Ratchet, and Bumblebee Wheeljack. I am thinking about getting WFC Cliffjumper next. Is that a good Skybound lineup?
Any line-up you like is a good one! This video is just my opinion, but it’s by no means objective fact. Quite frankly, I think it sounds like you have an awesome shelf! The figures that make you happy are the ones that make your best collection.
Newage is putting out some of the best Transformers stuff ever, absolutely! The only issue with Newage is it can be price prohibitive. The figures are worth the money, absolutely, but they carry a high price tag.
Technically speaking, Studio Series 86 Jazz would be the best option. Personally I think it’s an alright toy, but feelings on the toy is besides the point. 86 Jazz looks the most accurate to the Skybound version, in both modes. That said, the only difference would be the black stripes added to Skybound Jazz, though if you’re skilled, you could add the stripes. To be honest, all of the alternate modes in Skybound are mostly original, with no exact equivalents in plastic form, so I’d go with the closest equivalents.
You’re on point, I guess I’m just not as good at removing my biases😂. Alongside that, the vehicles modes are all mostly going to be issues. I’d kill for an Arcee that turns into a Lamborghini, but that’s probably never going to happen.
I’ve been trying to figure out a new topic. I’m thinking about either doing one about IDW More than Meets the Eye, or G1 Season 1. Right now, though, I’m just doing more action figure histories for Transformer characters.
I actually got the Siege Megatron with the 35th Anniversary Cell-Shaded paint job. That’s been my definitive G1 Megatron so far. We’ll see how that SS86 version turns out, I guess.
I think that’s a question above my pay grade, I mostly just talk toys! Even still, I think what he’s doing now makes sense. They found the Decepticon base while the cons are low on energy and are pressing their advantage.
@@Overlord_of_Cacti Oh, I follow! Well, the Earthrise figure can put Megatron’s arm cannon on. I suppose you could paint it silver, but it wouldn’t match up in verticals mode, and putting on a different arm would make Optimus unable to transform. So the best option might still just be to paint it and just pretend his smokestack isn’t there.
@@ronbondujon9690 they might do a rerelease with all constructicons as a devastator set like they did with Menasor and Rotf devastator. But next year I think the leaks only have 4-5 of the constructicons so a box set won’t happen till 2026-2027
@@HolyCow0273That would make sense, and it would at least let Studio Series have a few planned figures for a year. Every year I think, “Surely, they must be running out of designs”, and each time, Hasbro decides to expand what the word “Studio” can mean!
optimus is pure badass in the comics with I think was a good idea because bumblebee movie optimus would beat 30 decepticons on his own cliffjumper getting some spotlight is nice because g1 is definitive for him arcee being in the main line up is clearly a callback to transformers prime wheeljack being there just like ROTB ratchet being there is consistent like the first three films
@@Kak37I said it in the video, but my three favorite Autobots are Ratchet, Arcee, and Optimus, so I’m obviously having a blast with them being front and center. Cliff is a pet favorite of mine going all the way back to his 2007 movie figure being one of my first ever transformers, while Wheeljack and Jazz are the definitions of Old Reliables. Needless to say, I’m loving the team so far!
@@Kak37Nothing wrong with that, Prime had a really solid line-up! I do think that it’s funny that Ratchet has been given the permanent upgrade to “Optimus’ Old War-Buddy”, and Arcee has become a mainstay of basically every autobot team. As for Cliff, Wheeljack, and Jazz, they’re just fun to see again.
What a great figure, and they released him a few times! They’re doing a Studio Series 86 Megs, and a small part of me is really hoping he turns into the gun since SS is all about screen-accuracy.
When I first recorded this, I forgot it was coming out this year and didn’t have a photo of the prototype. I actually recorded a spectate clip to mention it, but then never added it into the video😂
That would be a lot of fun. We already could add Hot Rod, Springer, Shockwave, and Astrotrain. I also made a video similar to this one yesterday. It’s all about Soundwave and the many different cool and weird toys he’s had over the years.
Issues 7 and 8. In issue 7, it’s her, Kup, Warpath, and Huffer fighting to get into Shockwave’s fortress. In issue 8, she trying to save Ultra Magnus, who Shockwave had been torturing. If you’d like to find out more about Elita-1, I actually just posted a video today about her and all of her toys/appearances in fiction!
That one is a really solid option, and I like the painted windshield more. My only issue with it is that it was hard to get for awhile, whereas Earthrise Cliff is still pretty easy to find.
@@billloney2567 You’re absolutely on point! I didn’t see that coming when I made this video, but it really has become the best option for Cliff nowadays.
@ronbondujon9690 Though one thing I should warn you about is that on my copy at least, he has some paint chipping issues, so just keep an eye out for that if you ever decide to get it
True, but that many Masterpieces is kinda, well, price prohibitive. Then again, characters like Optimus, Arcee, and Starscream have a lot of options even with Masterpiece.
