That covering is looking perfect Scott, your patience, professionalism and attention to detail is the key. Try drinking only decaf coffee in the last hour before you knock off, that should tone down the ""getitdoneitus" syndrone creeping in, happens to me often with Model Aeroplanes 🙂Seriously.... it's all looking excellent 👍👍👍👍and I find your ongoing progress videos fascinating. cheers Paul

I’m fascinated to see you using the same iron as I did building RC models back in the 80s. I’m thoroughly enjoying watching your process especially now you’re covering. To my eye your workmanship is awesome and it’s probably worth not being too pedantic with the finish given it’s a flying piece of WWI artistry that’ll get splattered with bugs the first flight. Thankfully you’re not going the full Clerget 9B and avoiding having to contend with polymerizing castor oil from the exhaust.

Really appreciate your work Scott. Intelligent approaches to worthwhile passions on the internet are a breath of fresh air. They should have taught this stuff in schools but I fear it's too late. I visited a High School wood shop years ago where they had just installed a $35000 dust extraction system (probably 2 Sopwith Camels worth) but they explained it was never going to be used because they found it was so loud the students couldn't hear the teachers.. Sorry to see your supplier problems. It seems to be the unfortunate standard now that businesses knowingly supply inferior quality materials while proudly exclaiming they "cheerfully refund or replace if not satisfied". To adapt an old phrase - "All it takes for stupid to triumph is for intelligent men to do nothing". It's a glorious quest you're on Scott ! Good luck and best wishes mate 👍

Ha! I bought the exact same stand (Harbor Freight) to hold smaller flying surfaces upright while applying perimeter tapes, it works great! It's looking good, Scott! John SE5a

From a layman's perspective, the irregularities in the covering, thick and thin edges etc, and perhaps a rougher brush finish, would add to the character of the aircraft. A little more like the original? Slow and steady. Looking good 👍 Enjoy your long weekend

Coming along well 🙂 I'm enjoying watching the build, including the occasional frustration! What's the rough cost of the Stuart Systems covering for your Camel?

Fabric, adhesive, primer and exterior house paint. Not to sure until it’s all finished.

Adding layers will not hide that which is beneath it when using such thin material, especially when it is shrink fit. In fact it will only apply the blemishes. It seems to me you are being as careful as you can on each stage. Sometimes our lack of experience will show until we get enough practice in performing that task
