Our garden is beginning to take shape after 4 grueling days of setting posts and notching the corner supports. With 3 - 1/2 inch used drill pipe as the backbone we can rest assured we built a fence to last.
We appreciate you tagging along for our Alaskan adventure 😀
Thank you for watching and supporting our channel! 💙

A MID WEEK VIDEO!!!!! YAY!!!!WOW! THAT'S ALL I CAN SAY IS WOW! You two never cease to amaze me!!! Ariel, I see you deciding you want the post all painted black, lol. I know it's work, but I love the idea of straining all your dirt. It looks like your dirt will have a lot of sand in it. That is going to be great for your root veggies. Carrots love sandy soil. They can stretch out and go deep. I am excited to watch you both accomplish this all. I have been watching since you started off to Alaska on your journey, I believe about 4 or 5 years ago. I have never been disappointed!! "Extreme Living Alaska" certainly fits you two. Nothing you do is "simple." Eric, you drive that tractor like it's part of you, lol. Can't wait to see the next video! Both just amaze me... What it would be, to be young again and watching you. I could of been so inspired by you. God's protection as you build your future.

We feel your pain! We're in the process of building an 8 foot wood fence in Hawaii. Metal doesn't last her, so it's pressure treated posts, through lava rock, which is solid in some areas. I can't help anymore, so it's a lot more work for my 74 year old husband. Love what you're doing. It's amazing how common sense and hard work can make such wonderful projects.

I know there are a bunch of people like me that offer unwanted advice, but you need (and LOVE) an inexpensive plasma cutter. Using those fiber cutoffs can be a bit dangerous if you're cutting at an angle unless you're careful. They can shatter and they are sharp as heck when the pieces are flying through the air at 100 MPH. I had one go completely through a sheet of drywall in my garage. The plate that goes next to the disc on the grinder stabilizes the disc and helps keep it from bending when you're using it.

The jobs you pair accomplish are quite extraordinary. I want to say Bravo, but that seems paltry given what you achieve. Just amazing. I love the fact that you show us the problems you meet as well, and how you solve them. (When the helicopter went across at 27:02 I thought the govt. had come to investigate exactly what kind of security encampment you were constructing). Plus…. I just love the bird intro this time, though many of the birds are unfamiliar to me as a Brit. I say “this time” - I always do, so beautiful and never the same twice.

I’d be interested to know about your formal background in gardening. Ariel seems legit albeit her husband may seem humble. I’ve work for almost every garden center in Maine and yet it humiliates me when people see dirt on my fingers they assume I just fell off the turnip truck and ask me to mow their lawn for a quarter. My co worker had a great saying ‘ you only have so many seasons to get it right. ‘ You guys are all in. And that’s why I respect you more so than any horticulturalists with a degree. You plan, you think, and you execute. Bravo.

I learned the other day that you want older pipe because, After they decommission the pipe they treat it with something that starts with a N. It is a radio active material that can contaminate your soil and water table. I leaned this because I mentioned I wanted to use the pipe to make a perimeter fence around our property. The person I was telling this to said make sure the pipe is a couple years old. He is a safety supervisor in the oilfield up North. Your pipe looks old, I think I am going to look into getting used water drilling pipe and hopefully they don't treat it the same way. The saying is the first thing you plant in a Alaskan garden is an 8 foot fence. You are both very hard workers .
