sounds good.. i am tempted to do it with mine. currently giving a full overhaul as its highish miles at 180k. replaced the starter and alternator. cleaned out the manifold and egr, also "repaired" the swirl flaps and replaced all of the vacuum lines. now all i need is to run some sacrificial oil through the engine to try and flush it out and replace the filters and PCB filter. pretty sure its going to end up being a nice car. keep us updated on the middle box delete. i will be interested in a before and after video!
Nice work! Mines on 191k now!! Done most of what you have done along with glow plugs! Just need to change my oil breather filter soon! Shall do! I have a plan to twin pipe it 335d style with no middle box that will happen next summer when my mx5 is back on the road
@@benhawkes111 sounds nice.. or i will haha. recently bought it, cheapest one on auto trader and was dead local! its rough but i think i can get it nice. had loads of work to get it through the last 2 MOTs. most of the suspension changed. think i need the injectors replacing it sometimes idles really rough. got the full Delphi kit so i should be able to program them up. just had the oil breather come through the post and done the glow plugs. also replaced all of my vacuum lines as most of them was snapped clean off! its been the only car i have not yet made a youtube video of yet but thats mostly because my video editing software hates windows 10. damn Vegas pro.
Not difficult, I used a exhaust cutting tool, like a chain whip with little cutting wheels on it, took about 20 minutes for a nice clean cut. You could use a reciprocating saw or angle grinder and be a through in a few minutes with a little more mess!
I didn't use any angles, just cut straight lengths of pipe at angles to make the bends, I'll be honest though I never really measured anything! Just offered it up and made it fit 👍
does anyone know why it does that blue smoke and rough idle? my father has a diesel volvo doing the same even tho it took "repacked" injectors... cames... all sorts of filters and still does it... bad tuning?
Just getting rid of the muffler in the exhaust! The less restrictions you have in the exhaust the more noise you get! I do want to get rid of one of the catalytic Converters too which will make it louder!
No not at all! With the windows up and music on you can hardly hear it! With windows down it's not too loud, I may remove the mid box aswell at some point! I'll do another video at some point with some interior audio of the sound!
Assume so! All I did was the backbox delete! Mine was a manual though. Don't know if it makes a difference as my auto E39 doesn't sound like this with the same mods!
thank you for your answer bmw e 320D 136 horse power manual 5 steps I hope that if I do the same as you I will put the pipe at the end so that it sounds like this I love this sound
@@KylesCarsYT you are correct, I had two glow plug errors on this, replaced the glow plugs and it doesn't smoke at all now. Never used any oil since I've had it, hardly even worth bothering checking it, it is that good!
nope no idea im afraid, I am about to scan the car tonight with an INPA so shall see if anything comes up! Assume its just and old diesel thing, it has nearly 200k miles on the clock!
I have just cleaned out the intake, done the swirl flap delete, and changed the glow plugs and now get no smoke on start up! I assume it was the glow plugs as I had three errors and they all looked pretty bad
