In this video I build a stand for my Myford ML7 metal lathe. This design could also be used to build a very sturdy work bench. I know this video is quite different from my usual content but I thought it would be fun to share this project with you. Thanks for watching :)

Hey everyone! I know this video is quite different from my regular uploads. Thought it would be fun to put this together while working on my other projects. More exciting content on the way :)

Hi, dear, I can't help admiring your efficiency. As you are beautiful young man as your creative work is. Dear I have some ambiguities about conversion of car generator into bldc motor. Can you share your whatsapp no for guidance? Your reply shall be awaited. Thanks

Welcome to a very addicting future (precision machining), we have our first lathe bought near 28 years ago and it was around 40 years old then, we love machining and are happy for your move into your fine lathe. You built a great table we buy our tables because we did not do welding in-house until about 4 years ago. We enjoyed watching and both the lathe and the table look great, from the California high-desert, Lance & Patrick.

Long time machinist safety tip. Always cut towards the chuck whenever possible. It's better to push the work into the chuck instead of pulling it out if the work becomes loose for some reason.

A good job. However just a thought: the table might flex and wobble under heavy cutting. You could put diagonal braces to stiffen it up lots.

I could have used a lathe like this only yesterday. Instead I spun the metal in a drill chuck and used an angle grinder to shape it. (PS Hey Austin, I'd love to see your videos on Odysee)

I've been doing the same.. I'm converting a drill press into a mill set up with a crossslide table and I'm going to be milling optic cuts into pistols. Just waiting on a few more parts at the moment.
@OriginalAirsoftGasser
@OriginalAirsoftGasser 3 года назад
Good luck with that, it's nearly impossible to mill using a drill press due to the morse taper that holds the chuck in place, your chuck will just fall out of the drill press hence why milling machines exist.
@calholli
@calholli 3 года назад
@@OriginalAirsoftGasser Yeah, I know.. I'm gonna modify it. I have 3 drill presses that I got for basically free. I'm either going to weld on a bolt to the end of the taper, so that I can put a nut on it-- or I'm Just going to weld the chuck in there permanently and it will be a one trick pony mill for awhile... I have an older press that looks quite a bit different than these newer/ smaller chinese drill presses/ bench presses that are common now... This older one might be built a little different, I'm not sure. Either way, I NEED to get into milling lol.. I've already got some bits and a dovetail cutter and an X/Y table that's pretty sturdy... I'm in no real hurry, I'm basically waiting on it to stop being hot outside and then I'll put some hours in the shop.. If I absolutely have to, I can build my own head with some cheap tapered wheel bearings and swing it to the side of the drill press so I can use it's motor--- or even tear down a cheap $30 tread mill and use that motor/ variable controller for a home set up.. I see those tread mills on Facebook all the time --- I've actually bought two of them myself; and for whatever reason, there tends to be 3 or 4 of them on there at all times for dirt cheap... Not sure of the exact path yet, but one of these things is coming. haha

@@calholli If I were you I would look at getting a 3d printer and learning it, it's a great start to get into CNC as there are many similarities, my plan is to build my own CNC milling machine starting off small and then scaling it up into something bigger using what I learn on the way to improve my machine.
