In this video I focus on how to get a very tight neck pocket. Sounds are being generated using the Vox Mini5. If you would like me to build you a 3 string Cigar Box Guitar you can email me at the address at 16:38
You could also try rubbing a pencil in the lid side. When you close it there should be transfer marks on the high spots. Then you could erase or lightly sand them off.
Del, I enjoy your Video and Teachings, I've been watching for several years now, and I have 3 electric CBG's I'm working on the Neck, electronics and Strings to put on. One of them I forgot to put on 2nd part of the Bridge, but I'll work with it. Thank you so much!!
You craftsmanship and enthusiasm is crazy amazing. How can someone purchase a 3 string cigar box guitar like the one you use in the video? That guitfiddle sounds awesome!!
11:25 Wwooouu! I get it that 3-str CBG is a thing but I would now love to see you slam a full weight guitar, sir 👍 I mean, those Pink Floyd's guitar solos still can't be played on CBGs, no?
I've noticed that since you've got it you've been using the vox amp almost exclusively. Do you like it better than the microcube? I can say the delay seems better. As far as an idea on the 2way volume pot. What about a single coil and a humbucker both in the same position and being able to blend or choose which sound fits the song better.
super.. i got one of those cigar boxe one time... but it's hard for me to get cigar boxes here in italy.. i have to pay 20Eu for each one.. that makes me hard to build my CBG .. i'm thinking of building the boxes by myself out of scrap wood ..
I am in the UK and i have a couple of cigar box guitars but neither of them anything like as good as yours. Please do you sell to the UK. Kind regards Tim
Im requesting your help i want to make me a cbg. Here is the catch because I'm handicap in my left hand up to the shoulder I need a neck that can pivot and lock in place so I can find my comfortable spot. If you have any ideas I would appreciate your input
Hey Del, great tip with fret saw. Quick question buddy, what's the name of file/ rasp are you using. I have a variety of Stanley sure forms, but I've never seen a file like yours. Davy.
Just in case Del doesn't see your question, I think you're asking about the Shinto rasp. Rough cut on one side and fine on the other. I'm into woodcarving as well as building CBG's, and this rasp works great. Not expensive and easy to find online. I bought mine from Lee Valley here in Canada but I think Amazon has them as well.
