Some improvements you've probably already thought of: Weigh the trailer down some. Remove a leaf from either side. Add more cutting blades to the cross beam to cut the canopy away. Give yourself a pat on the back for a great idea and execution.
@ECEV
@ECEV 2 года назад
Agreed. I think it would be nice to have it slightly offset to one side as well.
@jimthesoundman8641
@jimthesoundman8641 2 года назад
I also think it would have been better to have the cutting frame all the way to the back so when it cuts the limbs, they hopefully would fall on the ground instead of piling up on the trailer.

Suggested additions: 1) Cable draped and tucked down the rear side of each blade tower so you can do a mass-extract of trapped materials. 2) some added mass in the trailer to reduce heaving.

When I was a kid, my dad and his friend made something like this (but not nearly as finished looking as yours) for clearing trails on the friends property. Most of yours and their design was very similar but with a couple major differences. The cutting teeth of theirs they found out was to make longer (projecting more forward) cutting blades ( like 2’) and then have those blade teeth angle downward so cut foliage could fall easier to clear the blades. Also, LESS suspension was more advantageous because the bouncing/shaking of the trailer aided to the clearing of the cutting blades. When the trailer wasn’t called to doing its purpose, then the ATV like tires pressure was lowered to soften traveling… but rock hard when cutting. Wish I had pictures of it.

Young man, you want to be a bit more safety minded about the ultraviolet rays produced by arc welding. I speak from experience that it does cause skin cancer, the same as too much exposure from direct sunlight. I was a welder for more than 58 yrs and have had my arms and face burned many times from being flash burned from the arc while I had a helper that was doing the tacking for me and now my face and arms are developing skin cancer faster than I can have it removed, there is a place on my nose that is eating a hole all the way through it about the size of a dime and doctors can't control it also several places on my forehead and sides of my neck. There are other places on my arms as well. Ultraviolet rays are to be avoided as much as possible. I don't want to sound like a Safety Sally, but I hope to make you aware of this fact so that you or others can avoid the outcome later in life.

Hey Andrew, what about setting a couple suitcase weights over the wheels on top of the frame to give it a lower center of gravity? That should also help with getting the leaf springs to absorb some of the bumps, instead of them causing the whole rig to hop with every little rock or hole. With all that weight of the arms outside the width of the wheels, she teetered a little, but was still a super design. "Trail Blazer 2.0" Nice work!

@@AndrewCamarata It is to create a tunnel, so the top bar should more like A? Stability in higher speed is another problem. Maybe create central of gravity a bit forward and let the tail has a bit more material for momentum stability? Another idea is tri-wheeled single on the back as platform, should be more stable but not sure about weight.

Andrew is the man. He makes it happen no matter what the project or obstacle is.

I love how well it worked... and how quickly it got destroyed. That's quality content.

First, I need you to come and run this around all my fields. Second, a set of walking tandems would help with the bouncing, though it does make for some classic Camarata action.

This was so satisfying. How quickly and simply you designed and built it to taking it out to work. I hate overgrown trails.

That is so cool to see something made from scratch. Simple straight forward, practical and definitely tough. One trip in and one out quickly takes care of quite a bit of overhanging branches... great concept, and recycling metal!

Wasn't sure but now I'm glad I stuck with it. Andrew never disappoints. It really looks like something out of Mad Max.
