Top notch job! It looks really professional! Brilliant solution to achieve the proper viewing height. Thank you for sharing your design:)

This is the best implementation of the tv hiding design I have seen. Very creative.

Man, you are a great engineer! Thanks for this video- great solution to a modern problem!

Wow, this is excellent. I love it. I’m just a bit confused on how the string will work to lift the upper part down. Do you have any documents or clarification on that?

This is an awesome project! Really well documented and done. The only thing I'd have changed is leaving gaps between the slats, and then potentially allowing the TV to create a glow effect from behind them (perhaps with a layer of semi-opaque plexiglass).

Thank you! I toyed with the idea in one of the designs (at 2:01), but I wasn't sure about the structural strength and it might have been a bit too see-through.

Curious if maybe bike chains and gears with adjustable mounting can be used for the moving cover to reduce the growing gap from paracord. Thank you for sharing the awesome build, that's a very nice TV lift cabinet!!
@dliu.creates
@dliu.creates Год назад
Thanks! Bike chain is a bit messy with the grease, but I think switching to a non-stretch cord would have helped too. Adjustability was definitely key.

@@dliu.creates Yes, the non-stretch cord seems like it would have the best of both worlds!

You built this all in an apartment? That's super impressive
@dliu.creates
@dliu.creates Год назад
Thanks! Besides cutting the plywood pieces to size, almost everything else was done in the apartment. I actually 3d printed a fan duct to properly ventilate the room for wood sanding/finishing... a bit of yak shaving in this project.

It's nice looking, a bit overengineered and still a big tall thing in the room. The idea for me is to be a bit more minimalist.

Do you put your design files available online? It would be neat to try and replicate this. Also what software were you using?

I would buy this! Where can I order one?

Having a TV placed at a normal height for an average seating person seems logical but exceptionally rare! I liked the clever box in the box moving in the opposite direction to the TV-set but wouldn't it be simpler to use separate linear actuators for the box instead of pulleys? Also, plywood is not the best material for designer cabinetry. Try bamboo board!

If I want to buy one, will you able to make me one for a 65 inches tv?

Fantastic result, from concept, fastidious design to implementation, well done. You could have put a small lip around the top panel to deal with hiding the gap as well as adding rigidity. An led strip could have also been hidden there to provide a cool ambient glow! Also i will add a switch that will turn on the TV as it raises and turns off the TV when it closes to save energy by not being on standby. I also want to figure a way of operating it via an Alexa command. I have lots of ideas, its just implementing them that takes time and effort! A very interesting, informative and inspiring video.

Wow! Well done! Any chance you can share the cut list on a PDF?

Thanks, happy to share but the cut list is more of an intermediate doc. It's far from being a build plan. Shoot me an email - david (at) dcliu (dot) com - and I'll send it to you.

Anyone knows how powerful the NEMA motor needs to be, to lift up a 75” TV with the swivel mount included?
@dliu.creates
@dliu.creates Год назад
I recommend looking for a linear actuator, which will usually have a rated load. The one I used lifts 155 lbs. My TV is 55 lbs, plus the top lid and speaker, minus the counterweight of the moving cover. Designing your own actuator is of course possible but I don't have experience with that.
