I missed a bristlenose fry when emptying a tank two years ago. There was just a centimeter of muck left at the bottom. And I also stored it outside for a night when it almost went to freezing temperatures. Then I put the sand and hardscape in, and suddenly I saw her swimming around in there. Still living strong today! Hardy fish, that's for sure. :P

Just recently started watching your channel and its made me want to get back into fish keeping, gonna try planted tanks for the first time as previously kept reef tanks.

The irony here is that (depending on personal taste), is that mbuna rock tank is spot on 😝.. and not a plant in it !

I think a sand + gravel + pebbles pathway in the middle void will look really good. The floating branches actually looks really good though, try to keep them like this.

4:00 - Hellanthium are related to Echinodorus, still under one plant family in some languages, but not in Latin classification. They just need little more light being short.

A warning to anyone else breaking down a tank with sand or gravel base. If you have Bristlenose or Corries in the tank they will bury themselves in the gravel. It happened to me with a large Bristlenose and a big female Corrie. I didn't find them until I started to scoop out the gravel :) They were fine when I got them into the holding tubs and they are still going strong back in the repaired tank none the worse for wear :) I also found a Kuhli Loach I hadn't seen in five years and thought it had died. It is back in the tank and I haven't seen it since :)

He's an over planter like it or leave it. Hahaha. However I do like the tanks @Mdfishtanks that have more hardscape with a smaller balance of plants that are not overgrown. I personally love some of the ones that you've done that way. Looks real. I love to see the details of the hardscapes, but that's my opinion.

Sorry MD - that bristlenose was probably in a piece of wood, not in the tank. All of the pleco family can survive out of water for a bit. But the tank - looking very promising,

it depends where you Look in the water... there are clear parts, dirty parts and Blackwater parts

If I had a tank looking that good the urge to chuck so many congo tetras in it would be unbearable

Looking good. I wonder why yo don't use (Red) mangroves (Rhizophora mangle) in your open scapes as filtration plants. they look good, are good water filters and the young plants are easily available, even in the UK.

Overplanting only occur when fish can't swim because plants covering every inch of the substrate, every other case is normal and healthy.

Hi Im cycling my fishtank right now and my fish has ich. I have Imagitarium Parisite Remedy it says I need to remove carbon from my filter but since most of the benefical bacteria bacteria is in filter and on the cartridges what should I do.

Keeping the used, grown in, "Wabi-Sabi" sand and substrate was an actual masterstroke. The tank now has a feel to it you simply can't create, you have to let become.

bristlenose can supposedly survive 20 hours out of water when theyre fully grown so he could have hitched onto some wood?
