I think some full enclosed boxes in lower section of the rear center would be badass. Cut a section out that’s covered by Plexiglass and RGB lights to illuminate the subs. I was gonna do it in my 14 Single Cab but never had the confidence to do so but your attitude of “You can do anything, It’s just work” is amazing and I am starting to live by it

Dan, helpful trick. Use a light colored sharpie for your sketching, then use the black sharpie for when you clean up your lines. Helps seeing your lines better while cutting

What you’re doing with the straight pieces is very common. If you end up doing a lot of work with the router I would suggest making a handful of jigs with different radius bends and shapes that you can always trace over onto something else using the same method. I’m excited to see how this turns out!

Doubled Sided Tape for your router template Dan!!!!.. Screws are permanent. Nice black-and-yellow grinder on your table.. I have one similar.

Dan you should mount the monitors on the ceiling it seems easier than to mess with the ceiling and headliner, could make it where they can be angled down to where they’re perfect to see, it be easier to hide the cables in the headliner too

Those sonic saws are the shit! Used one to install a stove/oven and a microwave. They’re awesome for tight spots and give great straight cuts.

The only difference between this router setup Dan, and how a wood worker would do, is they would have a dust collection system to pull the saw dust away as you worked. Oh, and also the piece of scrap as a fence, as long as the wood wasn't going to be naked, they would do the same.

Dan, with all the extra space, and I have not finished the video yet, but you could fit a sub for sure in there!

The technique you used on the table top router is the exact technique we us in the car audio industry. The only advice I have is to use double stick tape to stick the pieces together NOT THE FOAM STUFF the super thin double stick tape. The foam moves and doesn't provide the straightest edges. Also it may benefit you to look into mobile solutions router templates! Stay awesome though feel free to shoot me a message if you have any questions

You might try attaching the shop vac to a spot somehow like a donut around the table lathe to clear the debris from any work you do which would help alot with the heavily dusty and dangerous materials...

Dan love the learning mid way through the video respecting tools is a must, well done mate small suggestion extraction for the router in particular possibly an overhead solution would help, much love my guy love seeing the shit your doing very cool

This is making me want to build a custom console for my Tahoe !!!! Don’t forget to put a wireless charger in yours. That’s one thing I’m going to add to mine😀

You design around the fastener so basically if you think about being able to take it apart you hide the fasteners under moveable bits that way they are accessible but not an eyesore(think like plugs on those cheap toilet paper holders and towel bars as bad examples) so I say make a snap in type panel thats moveable and held in with screw joints from the inside of the box. Or basically make the structure a skeleton and the pretty bits hold onto that structure from inside like ar15 accessories on rails and stuff

I had a thought for the inside of the center console you could do an epoxy based internal to make it have the resiliency of the original plastic

Integrate a spot for your ccw on the side of the console man! It would be dope to have a spot specific for your daily carry

dubble sided tape with blue painters tape on the pieces, sticks better then screwing it, and removes really easyly thats how stacking when flush trimming is usualy done

Dan, you could try to use a RaspberryPi for the "gaming console". They're pretty capable, especially the newer models.

I'm going to try to build my own. Lets see if I just put the original back in.

Make a mount for the vaccum whilst you use the router it should pick up most of the dust and reduce the clean up

You could get your logo or something related to you like a quote, etc CNC'd. Attach it to the center console. Then upholster over it. Make it a'real Do It With Dan custom.

Attach the shop vac hose to a hole flus near the bit and use it in tandem to suck that shit up while cutting!
