If you make bluebird houses make sure you put them on the perimeter of your property they're very territorial don't want to be attacked while working in your beds
I will say I'm still very new to this, so I won't offer specific advise. I think there would be better videos / websites on that. BUT I try to get out and clear out old nesting material from the birdhouses late winter so they are ready for when the birds arrive. The mason bee homes need to be renovated every year or two. Take out all old tubes, with bees or not, and put them in a cardboard box with a little hole in it. That goes somewhere out of the rain so they can hatch and fly out. In the home you replace with fresh bamboo and japanese knotweed. I'll put a video out on that soon enough...
Biting them? You mean destroying them or just chewing around the entrance hole? If just chewing around the hole, that seems normal. Most of mine get 'modified' by the birds to suit their own needs.
Thanks for asking, I added a link in the description to one that I've used before. Searching for 'common bird house dimensions' is a great way to go, or searching for the bird you want will get you right there. Thanks!
We have bats at the main nursery, but I haven't seen them at our smaller space. A friend just gifted me a bat house, I need to set it up and learn about them!
