Excellent work, don’t hold back on the details, nothing in the process of model making is boring, always an opportunity to learn

Dear Jason, I'd like you to send you a kit I bought recently, for your kind "review". I'd be happy to receive it back fully built and weathered to your usual standard, to ensure you don't run out space. :-) Your are such an artist, that building turned out absolutely fantastic! The gutter ends make a small but important difference to the final product, they are well worth the few minutes. And thanks for the tip with the photo-etch sprue recycling for hinges!

Looks good on the diorama and who knows, maybe one day it will make it onto a layout...

Thanks Ewan, I've left it removable so the BMR guys can use it on a layout if they wish.

Sir. You say a budget railway, but what about this idea. I use it all the time and it seems to work. 1 sheet of 1mm clear plastic, 1 sheet of sandpaper. Cut the plastic to the dimensions of the shed then draw the outer surface of these shed on the sandpaper. After cutting out windows and doors ECT paint the panels then attach them to the clear plastic panels. Maybe even enhance the structure with offcuts of embossed brick around the base then for the roof ,more plastic and sandpaper this time painted humbrol 79 to represent tar

Great value kit, you've done a cracking job too. The doors etc, look superbly scale. Im not so sure about the sides, how they're rendered/what material theyre supposed to represent (as with the roof, sometimes digital footage plays tricks during playback)? But over all a charming model, superb price point too. Your diorama shows it all off well. Often the inside of engine sheds were painted white (in reality shades of grey/black) to provide some light, that of course highlights that aspect of a model, so modeller beware.

Thank you. I guess the moulding is representing corrugation, which is quite deep in its rendering but it took the paint and weathering well and looks scale enough. Had the corrugation been repeated on the inside I'd have gone with a lighter interior but as it is very plain I opted to darken the inside walls so as not to make a feature of them. I really wanted to make this kit as much 'out of the box' as possible but there is plenty of scope to add more detail. Maybe I'll have to build an OO9 micro layout inside something unusual and have a go at another one, as if a cake wasn't unusual enough! lol

Hi Jason, a man after my own heart, I think that your methodology is spot on, in all aspects. Looking forward to the 009 micro layout lol! Keep em coming.

Hi Jason, excellent job of building and weathering the engine shed. How did you make the interior floor that it sits on?

Thanks Andy. It’s foam board and styrene sheet (plastikard)

You did a super job, may I ask what brand of Matt varnish do you use, and spray or brush on? My only minor criticism would be the roof. You'd normally see a corrugated iron roof in the original grey with rusty edges to the sheets. The brown roof almost looks like oriental bamboo! But I'm being a bit harsh I know lol great job as always Jason

Thank you. I’ve experimented with many different matt varnishes with mixed results. In most cases these days I use Humbrol 49 acrylic matt varnish in a rattle can. It’s pricey but easy and quick. Lots of people don’t get on with it but It works okay as long as you give it a good long shake before use and use light coats. The base colour of the roof is in fact grey but perhaps it hasn’t shown up so well in the video. I did use some heavy washes on it though!

@@jasonpierce-newmodelbarmy3394 thanks for quick reply Jason. It's for a friend who insists on using acrylics that often leave a slight sheen whereas I tend to stick with enamels...more of a pain with brush washing but coverage is better, and most of all the Matt really is Matt. I think she was using Matt varnish by Vallejo, but anyway it was brush on and really wasn't very Matt. I wish auto correct wouldn't keep thinking I'm typing my son's name hahahaha. Many thanks Gary
