OO9 Gauge Exhibition Layout - Part 1 - Initial Concept 

Great take on narrow gauge. Although it can be quite expensive, thanks to your resourcefulness and the Kato chassis people can see this hobby can be fun for your purse too. And narrow gauge has endless possibilities too. All kinds of wagons can be used so you needn't worry about rivet counters. Anyway, thankfully fairs seem to be coming along soon too, might also be a boost for the hobby.

Cracking video as always that bridge adds a load of detail and verticality maybe I'll attempt kne myself.

Great little lay out again, love the idea of using second hand doors for baseboard, another budget saving idea by you, well done again. Good luck with displaying this at Model Show.

The Bo-Bo diesel looks great and the dock area has sooo much potential! 😎 Once the back scene trees etc are installed, the rest will fall into place so quickly I am sure! 👍 I really like the fact you have kept it light in construction as well as again recycling things, not least the door! 😜 Great stuff as ever mate 👍🍻🍀

i really love it...was thinking about becoming a purist,but it was the thought that counted lol....or not as the case may be....the show should be great..i asked Mathew to send some footage of it,so hopefully will look forward to seeing something from the exhibition...Down to 333 days now !!!! The fantastic bridge and superbly modelled supports are the stars of this layout. Since watching Madison County I have loved US covered bridges and one day hope to build one for my Kato layout on which I am running a shortened version of the Super Chief. I built my 009 layout around the Bachmann model of a ruined Cornish mine engine house, everything followed from that. I also use standard N gauge track as relible running is more important to me than authenticity. My heart lifts when I see you have posted a film. Your view of model railways fits my outlook perfectly. Thank you.

Toying with the idea of mixing gauges on one layout as well . For me that would mean Master scale in N, with Z scale track 🔬 ... shall we say i have my TREPIDATIONS

Hi Mike. WOW, that bridge is something else. I'd build one myself but I honestly don't think I have either the patience or ability to pull it off. Building kits is one thing, but it takes something on a higher level to scratch-build a structure with so many intricate features. It slightly reminds me of Japanese structures that you find in prisoner-of-war camps in some of the Hollywood films, or maybe my imagination is getting too carried away. I'll certainly try and get down to Sompting Village which I believe is not far from Worthing. I think that is where they hold Morris dancing to celebrate certain festivals as their local Morris dancing group also perform all over West Sussex. I'm probably side-tracking myself here by deviating from the main subject, so I look forward to the next 009 upload. Please let everyone know the exact location of the exhibition nearer the time. New layout is looking great. Was at the Spa Valley railway at the weekend and popped into classic rail on the way back. What a treasure trove that shop is 😀. Will hopefully see you guys at the Sompting show as it's just up the road from me

Use straws cut and painted for pipes along side wharfs and old cotton reels painted look like electric cable winds..

Nice concept Mike. What you need is a nice engine shed on there lol! I never worry about the sleeper spacings either. I'll endeavour to pop along and see it in the flesh in May. I'm booked into the 7mm SWING show the following week at Durrington with the Brewery layout. I look forward to seeing your progress with this in the meantime. J

Absolutely love that bridge. "Proper" OO9 track is expensive for sleeper spacing not many would even notice! My OO9 line, on my otherwise OO layout, is N gauge track too. Anyone offended by that is probably going to have a heart attack at the wrong number of rivets on your rolling stock! ;-) More power to you. Cheers

If you have spare n scale track you can cut every other sleeper on the rails and make 009 track for cheap

Great bridge, I love it ! One thing you cant do, is trying to give your layout a middle-Europa look by putting it in a country like Slovenia or Croatia. Slovakia and Czech Republic qualifies too, as south of Poland, or even Hungary, where you can find local trains on 750mm tracks. Especially in Slovenia, you can use austrian-looking buildings while still being "on the mood", just add inscriptions in Slovenian, thanks Google trad for this ! I'm an Easter Europe buff in case, just for the bias... Related and important, you idea to use roofing felt as ballast is one of the best you ever had about modelling, I guess that's what you've done here. Just one question : do you tried to paint it in other colors, like dark or light brown, to have something else than just black ? I will try it and let you know. Thanks a lot for the video !

I watch your vids on a regular basis and think they are really helpful in building a layout. I have a question and hope you can help. What I want to know, is it possible to wire a Hornby 8014 point motor in tandem with a Peco Pl 10 point motor. Hope you can help. Regards David
