Thanks for this series Aman, not only have you helped improve my game, but you have also allowed me to get rid of any of the chess anxiety I have struggled with and just enjoy the game for what it is.
One of the most important hurdles to overcome is to realise that an opponent's attack is not scary at all, can catapult your rating just by having trust in yourself
@@saymoes I was stuck at 600/900 for ages until I decided on a break. Came back calmer and less intimidated and shot to 1400 in a matter of weeks. Just take it slow and look at the board for what it it.
Chess anxiety is the worst. I'm just starting to get over that after coming back to the game. Knowing that you used to be better and playing worse...is the worst. 😁
@@brett444 IMO Gotham is kinda toxic, this and Danyas are far more valuable. Chessbrah and Danya walk you through the logic of their moves and use “x” level tactics to beat X level players. Gotham on the other hand crushes new players with IM level tactics and insults their intelligence. Not to mention he clearly gets hella butthurt anytime a troll criticizes him and he would suck a fart out of hikarus arse.
@@TheSkatersk8terskate I agree Levy's videos are educational in a different kind of way but are still educational. He isn't toxic, it's a sense of humor. It's like a friend calling his other friend an idiot. People aren't meant to take it seriously and he never intends for it to be that way. He isn't afraid to stand for himself, idk what you mean he gets butthurt(example plz?)
You have a pretty unique concept here! I'm rated ~1450 but found all of the earlier videos in the series informative too. Usually when GMs/IMs do these "climbing the rating ladder" videos they play at their top level all the time, this way seems more helpful.
@@damiester1 there is no competition, I don't know anyone doing it better or close, the combination of humour, being a dick and chess is pure dynamite XD
Yokednando after losing to the big brain habits: "Your shoulders must be very powerful to hold that brain. Where do you work out?" Us: *In the Chessbrah library*
@@damiester1 I feel for the guy. Maybe I hold myself in too high a regard, but that's how I feel most of my games go. Playing like a genius until suddenly boom, queen's gone, and back down I go into the low 1200s. No matter how smart on anything else chess related I just can't seem to stop myself from making the dumbest blind plays every other game.
I don't really have any specific thing to say but I want your engagement rate to go up so that more people get to see this amazing channel run by two fantastic creators. This series feels really dumb at first but it's actually insanely helpful. Just beginning with not making one-move blunders and THEN moving on to tactics or positional chess is such a vital part that seems obvious to do but in reality isn't done much at all.
I love this series. I know you mentioned once on stream these videos get the lowest views of basically anything you upload and I'm wondering if that's just because it can only be targeted to such narrow elo audiences for them to make sense. Either way this stuff has helped me a lot and I think it's exactly what I needed. Hoping to need to watch all the other ones too, successively, in the future.
holy sh*t that 2 knights Caro-Kann at the start of the video is savage! it is my new favorite CK line as white, and something to beware of as a black Caro-Kann player myself
Tal played like that against Botvinnik in their world championship match in 1960 (game 3, if I remember correctly). It was an interesting game, that ended in a draw
This series and chess fundamentals are the only two that actually helped me increase. After I watched the last episode. I won every new game since. Jumped over 100 points in a couple days.
I started playing in January and I’m now almost an 1000 rated player, and honestly I feel like I’ve improved more since watching your videos in the last week than the past like 2 months of just playing games. Also I just beat my 1300 roommate for the first time!! Love this series man you’re doing a great job
Top tier chess learning content. The procedural improvements make so much sense with the rules, and it really is the closest thing to a "colour by numbers" approach to getting better at chess I've ever seen. Keep it up!
I just started playing chess and I went from 800 to 1000 in a week from watching this, last night I beat a 1500 and mid 1300 handily in casual blitz. Amazing work, keep it up.

Hey Aman thanks for the great series. It's really helping me improve. Literally just watched this last night and had this game this morning 1. e4 c6 2. Nf3 d5 3. Nc3 dxe4 4. Nxe4 Bf5 5. Ng3 Bg6 6. h4 h6 7. Ne5 Bh7 8. Bc4 e6 9. Qe2 Bc5 10. Nxf7 Kxf7 11. Qxe6+ Kf8 12. Qf7# { White wins by checkmate. } 1-0
I'm a big fan of Gotham, but your instruction series far surpasses his. Your videos helped raise my elo from 1000 to 1300 within a month. I watched his and now i need to rewatch these! Not tryina dog my man but just wanted to express how helpful your series is and how well it's structured. Thanks!
this is by far the funniest part of the series :D had to stop and lol one out. and also I found out that there are the full length versions available. Great stuff. Thanks Aman for this gem.
Grandmaster Aman Hambleton continues his educational series: Building Habits! In this series, he goes over rules for you to follow as a beginner. By eliminating the use of any advanced themes that beginners would not be familiar with, he makes principles easier to understand as a new chess player!
Brah, u can't imagine how much I enjoy this series. OMG I can't thanks u enough for the happiness that you're bringing to the board. A few minutes ago I've lost like 5 Caro-Kann games in a row, I mean they haven't just won they just literally beat me up, I was about to throw the phone away XD. But after seeing the first 7 minutes of this video I feel like a bullied kid beating the SHT out of the bullies. So thank you so much, keep creating amazing content you and your chess brah, God bless u and your families. Saludos from Panamá.
I'm rated in the upper 1100s, and this is the first video I have watched and I loved it! Will I derive greater benefits if I watch your preceding lower ELO videos or would that be redundant given my present rating?
every now and then when i start playing badly (gambiting, not playing using the principles) I come back to this video to remind myself of how to play solidly, thanks for the video guys :^)
hahahaha YOKED nando was fucking hilarious! I've only laughed out loud twice watching Chess videos... once was Yoked Nando and the other time was Aman Jerome gambit video....
Truely amazing content! @Chessbrah Thanks so much for making all the habits series conveniently available on twitch! some gold in the full episodes yall
