Yeah I know right. Came out much better than I expected too. I have to give credit where credit is due, I actually saw it on ru-vid.com and decided to try it too
The red seemed not to go on all that well, try adding a bit of thinner to the paint. this helps it flow out of the airbrush better, and creates a smoother overal finish. same goes for the blue and clearcoat. Looks good man!
@@autostradamacchina wanted to comment the same. Also, try a different thinner like Mr. Color levelling thinner. It should result in much less wrinkles.
Thanks Thomas, I actually started using more thinner 50:50, as well as got a new airbrush and proper compressor and the issue I think has resolved. I also had a lot of “spitting” but I think that might have neen from low compression (shitty Chinese compressor from before) and a bent airbrush needle.
Tamiya's decal formula didn't work with standard decal solutions and it used to say so in their kit instruction. They then released their own solutions. I don't know about the Mr Mark products.
Got to love the Group C cars! Really good build with the 3 tone paint job and all, excelent result. I'll have to try what you did with te tyres, they look great! Congratulations!
Interesting to say it doesn't have an engine. I have the 91 version from Hasegawa in my stash so maybe I should have a closer look at mine. It's still more detailed than the XJR9 which I made. Great start! The livery is pretty much the same as mine so I will definitely watch this again when I finally make mine. 👍
@@autostradamacchina ah thanks. Hasegawa have a reputation for reboxing a kit several times with minor changes. My XJR9 even said XJR8 on some of the sprues!
Thanks Kevin, yeah the masking on this kit was a pain in the ass. There were some “guidelines” on the body which made it a little easier but one mistake would have you start all over again..

Very professional man. I’m exited to see the final results. By the colors and design it really looks like an interesting and fun build. How did the 2k worked out when spraying? I bought a set and I’m exited to try it, something new for me.
thanks man, yeah I've been using 2K for a while but my airbrush isn't the best, so I do tend to get inconsistencies after applying 2k which I then need to sand down etc etc. But just be patient with the layers and I think you'll be fine. What brand did you get?
Great thanks Paolo! For the detail work I have 4x Tamiya brushes I mainly use, see 87153, 87154, 87155 & 87156. I think for the dashboard I used the 87154
Do you find the 2K clear coat you used poses less damages to the decal when applying the wet coat? Because even applying first and second the mist coat with the Gunze UV cut clear, the last wet coat still makes the decal wrinkled up, especially with the Tamiya Cartograf decals. Appreciate if you can share some tips thanks !!
To be honest I don’t really have experience with 2k other than the zeropaints 2k pack, however I’ve never had any issues with decals getting damaged from any of the kits I’ve build with the zp stuff. Maybe best to switch and trying something else?
If you cant get access to that easily I’ve seen a lot of guys use Mr Hobby GX100 Super clear III, that is definitely on my list of clear products to try out
