In recent times a garage is not a necessity. With a spacious compound, I don’t think you need a garage. Moreover there a other structures you can put up to provide shade for your vehicle.
In the cold, you need one, because of winter. In a hot place like ghana, your compound is open, why waste space? I live in the cold have one and still park outside in my driveway. Ghana 🇬🇭 you are always on the move, in and out it's too much!
I believe it’s a personal choice. It is ok not to have a garage if there is space for one / two cars in your compound. You can cover the area with a canopy

It's the same when I heard a developer remarked how some one could put a washing machine in their kitchen. One has to have a laundry room
