Hi, I no longer have this boat. If you want to build a kit. Jamie at Minijet inc. sells one of the best kits on the market. He can have one assembled for you as well but being so far away a kit would probably be the most economical to ship. He is on Facebook so he is easy to find. Hope this helps. Cheers

We never built our new designs this winter, instead we did some serious modifications to the ones we have. We managed to gain 9 MPH out of the ones we have and have changed the characteristics of handling and overall performance. My little rig has a worn out impeller and we GPS'd it at 46 MPH. I have a new impeller and am hoping to be very close to the 50 mark. I have a fresh SeaDoo supercharged 4 stroke that I am planning a build for, hoping for 60 MPH +. We will see, I believe it is very possible. Thought you all deserved a bit of an update. I have no fresh video's as of yet but we are planning a couple new runs this season, probably sooner than later because it is turning out to be a low water year and already some of my regular early trips are out of water and unless we have a crazy wet spell, will have to wait for a new wetter season. Well I need to go play boats and water, so Cheers and Happy Trails!!!

Very nice! I got an email from you asking where I'm from 9th September, just checked and my reply didn't work so I'm from hawkesbay in New Zealand. I've got a 1100 cc seadoo ski, trying to find better hull configuration than my last one. I know your hull designs are not for sale but I also know the feeling of these too and wouldn't rip nothing of yours off. I wish there was a jetboat racing On the jetboat courses for a class like these! Be epic fun. I have a jetboat course 5 mins from my home.

Thanks for the response. We have built a few boats since this one. They all work as good or better and we have learned a pile about how to build them. I am presently designing a new hull. I am not sure when fabrication will start as the layout and design takes time and I never rush this part as it is a process that involves ideas and change. I hope the design will be complete in another week and the layout in another month. Once that is done it won't take me long to fabricate. The new design will be for a boat ranging in length from 12 feet to 15 feet. This is due to the fact that I want a mini style boat that is a more usable without being a full size boat. Once the layout is complete we will build a few and decide which length is the most sensible. The rivers we run range from large rivers with pressure swells to the tiniest of streams so it is going to be a challenge. Cheers, Happy Trails!!!

Hi Andrew. Sorry it took so long to get back to you. I hope your project went well. The boat is a 9 ft hull, 14 degrees and is running a 650 cc Seadoo Rotax engine and pump. It runs in 3" of water. I sold this one and built a new one that is running more power and a bunch of different upgrades. Both have 3/8" UHMW on the bottom. The new one has 3/16" steel around the intake as well and an 11/16" thick keel. Cheers!!!

Hello world: I have commented on this vid before but at this point I would like to tell the world WHY this vid is worth viewing and why everyone even thinking about a jet ski into a river boat NEEDS TO watch and study this vid. IT IS ALL ABOUT THE INTAKE. Every jet boat is built from the pump intake up. All good ones anyway. With out proper flow characteristics no matter how much power you put to it it is not going to perform well. To see this for ones own self one has to get several jets side by side and study them. If after looking at a Scott 751 (7.5 inch impeller) and a sport jet ( 7.25 inch impeller) you can not understand why the sport jet cavitates like hell then you are in the wrong field. Big intakes equal slow water flow rates. This means it sucks up very little crap because the flow rate is slow. HIGH volume... but slow rate. How do make your shop vac suck up the finest dust? put a 1/2 hose in the end and tape it there. Now listen to how hard the motor works to 'SUCK' up the dust. Sure it sucks dust but the volume is greatly reduce. So go the other way.... Make the intake big then use 10mm bars on 10mm spacing to screen off the pump. The pump should not ever "work" to suck in the water. When stationary in the water it is submerged and once you get it moving there is almost a ram effect to fill the intake. Fast boats have tiny intakes and slow boats have big ones. A big intake on a fast boat (120km/h plus) can actually become such a scoop that it will over stuff the pump and push the boat right off the water. A jet boat is jump mounted in a boat. Start with the pump. Crazed jetter

Everything has through hull fittings. Steering cable is drilled and tapped into the 1/2" alum plate I used to mount the pump. The mechanical seal on the drive shaft is the one that can cause problems if it is not snug.

What is that black material used on the bottom? and is it used to help protect the hull or to help skid over rocks and logs or both protection + help skids. Awesome boat!
@smwizzz
@smwizzz 6 лет назад
Hi Noah. It is UHMW. We use it to add strength to the bottom as well as allow the boat to slip over rocks, logs etc. It adds weight. We are still playing with different amounts as well as steel and even trying none at all to compare. So far the best protection is adding a thick keel and some UHMW on the part of the bottom that will contact the bottom. I run a piece of 3/16 steel plate around the intake on my boat. I've had good luck so far. 1/8 steel was to thin.

How much did this cost to build just in materials
@smwizzz
@smwizzz 7 лет назад
Hi Patrick. I actually never added it up but I used 1 sheet of 3/16 aluminum for the bottom (4' x 10' sheet), approximately 4 - 4 x 10 sheets of 0.100 aluminum for the rest of the hull c/w bracking and brackets. The 3/16 would have been about $300 and the 0.100 would have been about $200 per sheet when it was built. The donor machine was $3500 ish, I can't remember exact dollars but that would be close. I used as much of the machine as possible ie: cables, fuel cell, etc to save on costs. There were switches and electrical wiring and I added a spare battery and battery switch along with marker lights and such to keep it legal. I used a couple cylinders of argon and a box or two of rod to weld it. The UHMW was a 4 x 8 sheet of 3/8. I am guessing at the cost of $250. I don't remember and I haven't purchased any for a long time. I would estimate between $7000 and $8000 total no labor included. My last one was a tad more as I purchased the guages, steering wheel, custom length steering cable along with a bunch of other parts. I also purchased 2 dry cells instead of lead/acid batteries which were about 3 times the cost but 1/4 the weight and I haven't taken them out of the boat in off season's since I put them in. They are awesome!!! The one I have plans for will be more yet but it will be the best in between boat I can have. I also have a 22 ft Outlaw Clearwater. All of my boats have a different purpose. I am hoping the next one will still be light, be faster yet, run in the same amount or less water than the 9 ft boats we built and get the fuel mileage of the little boat. It is going to be a bit bigger (haven't figured material coverage yet) and a bit wider with a full windshield and a canopy... maybe even a heater!!! Hope this helps. Cheers!!!

Nice job! I have an old '97 seadoo speedster with twin jets. It does close to 60 mph and its quite a bit bigger and heavier than the one here. I wonder how fast yours would go with twin jets? I cant remember the numbers. It's actually been a while since ive launched it , but I think the 2 rotax motors are 720cc each, producing 85 hp. Does that sound right? I just know it performs way better than the model that came out later with a merc motor producing 210 hp(?). The single mercury motor may have been maybe 1mph faster but nowhere near as fun to drive. ..way too stable. About the supercharged 4 stroke, I read your comment about obtaining one. Do you have any experience driving one? ..it's my understanding that it had to be supercharged to get close to the top end results you get from the stock 2 stroke. It would be great if you were planning to do any kneeboarding or maybe wakeboarding, something where you need more control on the low end but idk if you'll get much of an improved hole shot out of it, or even one equal to what you get from the 2 stroke. You'll get better gas consumption and be a lot friendlier to the environment with the 4 stroke tho. ..but maybe not so much better fuel consumption with the supercharger. Hey! Have you seen the jet ski video of the guy who put a kawasaki hayabusa motor in it? it's insane! That's something that might be worth looking onto as a 4 stroke alternative..

Lol, it would be interesting. The one I am running now has 165 hp and the fastest run I've had is 53.4 mph. twins may do better with the torque. I do want to build a twin on e of these days for kicks and giggles but for now I have what I have. I don't think twins would be very fun to shoe horn into one this size and the weight would be significantly more. Take care, if you build a twin, I want to see it!!!

@@smwizzz yea. I can see it getting cramped real quick. But the way you hoist yours up by the bow like that would make working on them very easy, especially since they won't sit as deep in your boat. It may be only a 5 hp advantage between mine and yours, but when you compare 2 strokes vs 4, the gap gets way bigger plus the redundancy is nice when you have to fall back on it. Ive made many trips back to the dock on one screw (impeller)

Legal. Felicidades, trilhas felizes !!!

That's awesome. First thing, your a true artist and engineer. Next, that's what the 92 XP with the Rotax 582 did top speed 46mph. As I watched you build I was hoping you had a 95 XP somewhere we couldn't see and you matched the Jet and intake volume of the 95 or 96 XP. I thought you were using the just the 92 XP's hull for a blueprint. The Rotax 650 and 720cc would have dropped right in. Same motor different mounts. 85HP for the 720 and with a Factory Pipe a 25HP upgrade and adjusted right meaning the computer for the Pipe it is very reliable. Those 720's are everywhere and cheap and with Factory pipe (not stock pipe) it's 110HP. That combination would have been a force to reckon with. Vanilla Ice the rapper raced that 92 XP hull until the 785cc class dissolved. At the end many of my customers and I'm sure Vanilla Ice too was running the (95 XP limited Production) 96 XP 785 Rotax Rave engines in the 92 XP Hulls and in the Seadoo HX's. The 95 XP's have an extended pump that all the rest of the ski's did not and for some reason would not bolt onto the 96 XP Raves. It really helped get the hull out of the water. There's some other physics involved too but that would take time to discuss and I already wrote to much. Excellent Idea though I love what you did. Can't due the Aluminum where I'm from the electrolysis would have ate the hull and rivets in one season. Drop in a 720 for all us fans. 55MPH on GPS in our 95 XP stock and 52MPH on GPS in our 96 GTI. With an empty gas tank the GTI sits next to the XP, I'm 90 Pounds lighter than my brother though.

I sold the one in the video but I have an idea for a boat running twin rotax's. The boat I have presently is one refined from this one and runs a rotax 951 with twin pipes at 165hp. It has a Skat trak pump and runs 51 mph or about 80kmh. It is the modified hull and works extremely well. My next project is on the shelf, a 215 hp supercharged Seadoo setup... one thing at a time!!! LOL. Cheers!!!

Hey look into the skidoo snowmobile 800cc Rave E-tec two stroke. When I found out about that powerplant in the snowmobiles it aggravated me because over here in the USA two strokes were made illegal in 2006. That motor is more efficient in EPA standards then the four strokes. These big heavy 4strokes are not the choice of a performer. On a jetski jumping in the ocean having a 900 pound machine looping out and landing on top of u over a sandbar is my nightmare. _lh3.googleusercontent.com/BgUfX3MJ9Hv-mLzo-9nmKkFfFLlsG7YvDfodAHwzaRQZAtk01pd3WHD_O3ci3e2xWSRLrPLpTA_

I cant open it. I am going to be testing one with a supercharged 4 stroke soon. I'll keep you all posted. I think it will really work well. Agreed there is added weight but there are some good options and I am hoping it is much quieter.

I don't own this on anymore. I have a much better one running just over 50 mph. My next setup is sitting on a pallet rack waiting for a boat to go in. Its a 215 hp supercahrged setup. I'm running 165hp right now at about 51.5 mph. I can't wait to see how fast this will go.

I've got twin 720's in my 97 speedster. They're only rated at 85hp each. That factory pipe really makes a 25 hp difference?? Or is there something specific about the '95 year 720? With all the advantages in my favor. The fastest I ever got to was in the high 50's. ..like 58/59 mph. The only skis that were ever able to pass me with ease were Polaris, especially if they zip over to the shallows, out of the chop and away from my bubbles lol ..But I left mine bone stock because I didn't want to chase out any kind of mechanical advantages or burn up gas any faster than the stock consumption rate of 25 gallons every 2 hours. The only advantage i run with is the loose nut behind the wheel. ,;^/

How much did it cost you for the material not including the motor or anything like that?
@smwizzz
@smwizzz 5 лет назад
Good Day! I can't answer that. It is a long time ago now however I can give you an idea of todays value. The sides were 1 - 4 x 10 x 0.100. The bottom was 1 - 4 x 8 x 3/16. There is approximately 2 more sheets of 4 x 10 x 0.100 in bow covers, engine cover and fire wall, windshield and brackets and stringers. Present value of 0.100" - 4 x 10 - $260.00, 3/16" 4 x 8 - $340.00. I just got pricing for a 4 x 8 sheet of 1/2" UHMW and it was $560.00. We used 3/8" but I would recommend 1/2" if you crash hard. There are cables, steering and throttle controls as well as wiring and fuel lines on top of that which will cost what you want it to. I made the steering wheel in this one and used the Seadoo steering post modified to work with the wheel. I used as many cables as possible as well as fuel and electrical but there was still a need to add to it all. I used the factory tanks as well for this build. I don't have up to date pricing for the pipe I used for the roll bar and swim grid but it is probably the cheapest part of the boat. I used a piece of aluminum checker plate on the swim deck which will be close to the price of 0.100" per square foot. Hope this helps. If you build one make sure you post it!!!

Lol, no problem. 1 sheet - 4 ft x 10 ft. This boat is 9 ft long. It is a foot or two to short. I will never build one less than 10 feet long again.

@JDog72MC 5 лет назад
smwizzz do you have plans of a 10 or 11 footer? I went and got a few of aluminum sheets today.. I know I don’t have enough yet but I got them given to me so I have a big head start already. I got a 1/4” x 4ft x 8ft sheet, a 1/4 x 4ft x 6 ft sheet, a 1/4 x 4 ft x 4 ft sheet and 2 sheets of 1/8” x 4ft x 8 ft!

There are a couple guys selling plans for bigger ones. I believe one of them is out of Vancouver , BC. There is another guy I heard of in Alaska. There is mini jet out of Austrailia as well I believe. I only have my 9 ft boat plans which is too small I think. @@JDog72MC
