Building my DIY Camper's Interior - then Testing It Out

Instead of a 2 burner stove, consider a folding backpacking stove for the occasional second burner. It takes less cupboard space and can be brought on hikes. It works in our camper van.

Videos this good deserve to be pushed by the algorithm.

The footage of you cooking, eating, and washing dishes was KEY. Throughout the build process I was like, "This is fascinating! I wonder if I could do this?" Then seeing you actually using it all I was like, "THIS SPEAKS TO MY SOUL!"

This camper build is the definition of the K.I.S.S. principle, nicely done and very grateful for you to share this with the rest of the world.

Cad is a great way to make a template. "cardboard aided design".

That access to the cutlery and gas cooker from inside is genius.

My go to pancake setup is definitely maple syrup (or honey if I'm out), berries, and butter. Can't forget the butter, a little salty and fatty with your sweet is great.

I'm totally invested in this. I am about to do something like this with my wife, once we find a decently priced truck that isn't just rolling junk

I have a kitchen towel roll on a dowel above my lathe... it unrolls in the wind... GUESS WHAT I'LL BE DOING! Thanks for another neat video, you really are the complete package! 😜

I removed the tub liner because there was so much extra space behind and around the plastic liner. There was also a couple of rectangular hole at the back of the tub which I covered with some aluminium sheet and pop riveted into place after sealing it in place. Around the floor were also some gaps which I sealed with no-more gaps. Now after some river crossings, no more water ingress. I also installed rubber seals around the tail gate. Cheers

I'm building a pop up for a trailer, and your kitchen is working very well for some solutions to my inside/out dilemma. I live up in Canada and we pride ourselves on having one of the best backyards on the planet, so I've been studying up on plenty of ideas for a DIY camper myself, as money is expensive, I love to have stuff I built myself, and my wife isn't a huge fan of roughing it like this old country boy is used to. So i got your plans from your website. Was super excited to look into building this because it looks pretty simple and supplies looked cheaper than most plans ive seen from others. Your plans called for a specific amount of aluminum tubing and you stated 260$ for 20m of RHS, just for the first item on this list of supplies. I have no idea where you were able to pay that but here in America ~65ft (20m) is over $2000. So this build is expensive. You stated it would cost ~$1500 to build this, but unfortunately thats not so here in America. I will have to modify this without aluminum hopefully…..On a side note i appreciate this build and you did an awesome job. Great craftsmanship. Thanks.

Normally I use the raspberry flavored lumber. The opening visualization graphics were great. The drawer slides flat was a good idea. The area near the river is an absolutely BEAUTIFUL location. I think a zig zag light inside on the roof of the pop-top would be nice for in bed, and maybe some LED RGB accent strips, hidden along the roofline for ambiance would be cool. Where did the camper van conversion go? (I liked it)

I was going to comment about the bungee cord to pull the fabric in on your last video. Now you have added it, you need 2 tension wires running inside from the top of the lid down to the adjacent camper base corner. These wires will stop the bungee cord pulling in the fabric with the roof up, and prevent the roof from over extending in extreme winds.

At the end when you were cooking inside and the fabric kept blowing inside, just put a small strip of velcro on the outside and it will stick ! :)

That thing looks fantastic. Makes me want to get a pickup truck next time around. I’m really curious to know how the tent fabric holds up when it gets rainy and windy. But no matter what, being able to stay inside the shell and stand up fully on a crappy day must be magical.

awesome series building and finishing the interior of the camper, love it! definitely sparks some ideas, your construction methods are clearly based on some hard earned experience & skills. the only thing that comes to mind that i could really critique is i would have put a 100ah lifepo4 battery in that battery box, put more solar on the roof ( though im sure weight was a consideration ) as there's plenty of room, and then put a slightly larger iceco vl35proS 12v fridge instead. with a larger battery & extra solar + 1000w inverter, you would have more capability to run things like an electric cook top / instant pot, maybe an electric blanket, fan(s) or charge up power tools, etc.. thanks for sharing your awesome build!

27:38 I'm a strawberry waffle guy myself but nutella and banana on pancakes. Also, adding a ratan rod (like the green ones from any garden section) would keep the mesh from blowing over the side and might make rolling up the edge a little easier. Or heck, a foam dowel to save the weight.

Your attention to detail is good, always thinking ahead to better your build!

Add magnets to your tailgate flatscreen so it seals and self closets. Like those made for pets etc on home doors in place of a solid screen door. Also, you do great work! Love the channel.

My favorite pancake fillings/toppings: savoury: * Bolognese sauce / hash sauce (usually leftovers) * leek in heavy cream * asparagus and ham (when it's in season) sweet: * jam (strawberry / raspberry, but any jam will do) * banana and hazelnut spread (Nutella) * sugar and cinnamon

Okay, for my go-to high energy breakfast, I like fried peanut butter sandwiches. Cooked similar to a grilled cheese sandwich, but with peanut butter, cinnamon and sugar on the inside (instead of cheese). Then syrup on top. It's definitely tasty 😎👍

I think you found the perfect balance of luxury and minimalism with your camping gear and method. Aside, my Vote for best topping for pancakes: Strawberry Preserves! Not Jelly nor Jam; Preserves have more solid chunks of fruit with some added sugar. Yum indeed. Cheers. Steve, Utah, USA

Cool build! Thanks! For oancakes: Strawberry jam. Peanut butter, banana, chocolate sauce, but I cook them in bacon grease. Dark maple syrup and crunchy bacon.

Very well thought out interior. Great attention to detail. I personally like adding some bacon to my peanut butter and banana crepes. Sometimes a little siracha to add that hot sweet if you're using maple syrup

Dude, the vlog style close out of your build video show casing all your work in action is super different and satisfying.

I think the next project for this is building/sewing a back screen that lets you still access the pull out kitchen somehow with maybe a center zip for you to be able to climb in and out without all the bugs getting inside. As for what I put on my pancakes, I have a family recipe for Brown Sugar sauce that’s super rich and super yummy. My friends and boyfriend call it liquid crack because of how good it is. I have been loving this build and really want to get a truck to build one myself now!

OMG, I've had that Y drill bit thing on my kit for YEARS and while I consider myself pretty handy on the tools I never knew what it was for. That alone gets a "Like" from me mate. :D Love the build! Just FYI, the screw is on the solar panel shouldn't be necessary. VHB tape is often used to stick windows onto skyscrapers, so it's pretty good stuff.

To melt that plastic American cheese properly we like to put the cheese on the burger spray a little water in the pan and put the lid on for a few minutes just a steam it creates a nice melted coating around that burger

I always top my pancakes with peanut butter and some sugar, makes for a great savory and sweet combo without getting too unhealthy. We eat pancakes for dinner here in the Netherlands so we usually don't put too many sugars on it as that's just going to keep your body active until late at night, but raw sugar doesn't have that effect for me.
