Raised garden bed weed prevention tip: cut the fabric INSIDE of the bed and keep it lining the walls in the bed, that way you prevent the gap around the base on the outside where weeds can grow around the fabric. Neat and tidy! 😊

Hello from London dear Nicole 😃 How fab to finally get a chance to catch up with you now that things have calmed down a bit at the nursery and a very well done to all involved in this season's success. You do look so well and refreshed and quite literally "full of beans" ! Loving your raised beds and everything growing in them especially the eggplants. It is so good to see you back in top shape with this energy and positive vibe we love so much. First I heard of the white marble beads and that will indeed be quite expensive to use as a ground cover but it will complement beautifully your raised beds for a contemporary look. You will smile but I first spotted the frog, I first thought that you creating a Japanese style mini garden in a rather odd place 😅 Those mini melons tasting of lemon are new to me. Your cabbages are looking so pretty. You really had me smiling with your "son of a gun" cabbage worms. Well done Inspector Nicole ! The cherry peppers are looking good. Loving the orange coloured u shape beds. I like that you keep it real for us to see things are they truly are. I can really recommend the Bernini battery powered fountain as made of Firmastone and available in 4 colours, terracotta being my favourite. What amazes me is that it did not look that much when we first discovered your raised bed garden but now that you are creating a sense of perspective and design and when the white marble beads soil will be in place, it will be rather spectacular and such a happy place for you to enjoy. Your adventurous little petunia reminds on a little guy who seeded itself in a gutter below my planters in France and bloomed so nicely like a real little trooper. Yes, Life always does find a way ! Oh that is a real bummer that the compost you purchased from the city is full of weeds ! Thanks God that only 5 beds were affected. In terms of solar lighting, I am a big fan of Luxform lights and Garden Reflections lights. Aren't we all like kids when it comes our lights coming to life in the evening ! You have made my day as always 😊💚

That’s a lot of beds! My raised beds are wood and because I built them 3 years apart, the wood color/aging is slightly different and it gives me anxiety😵‍💫! Kudos to you for being able to work with all the different colors/styles/shapes. Curious if all the lights attract more unwanted insects and also I assume you’re watering it all by hand for now? Happy gardening🌸

I love your excitement about the lights turning on! My mom and I do that too. She has a bunch of lights in her garden and I only have a couple so far but it makes both of us so happy. My mom has 2 of the firework ones and I adore them!

If you run the cucumber vines up the trellis, your cucumbers will hang down and you won’t miss any.

You certainly go all in when you do something. We only have built 16 raised beds and thought that was a project. We fabricated all our own which was a bit more work. When it comes to filling them we fill the bottom third to half with rotting wood fiber and then some form of soil and top off with 2-3 inches of compost. We have 28 acres mixed fields and woods, so we can access all this ourselves. I make compost from raking up hay and wood fiber I buy from sawmills or get free. One tip, if you go to your Lowes, TSC, or other ag stores and ask a manager about purchasing damaged bags you can often get a huge discount. I made a deal with a local big box that I wold take all their damaged mulches and soils. They palletize them and when they get 3-4 skids I go pick it up. I pay pennies on the dollar for these, but you end up with all kinds of product. We use it all in some form or another. To get the best deal you have to be willing to take large quantities, but you can use them.

I don't know about your blueberry bushes but my information that I was given is that you need to have two different kinds of blueberry bushes. So grab that other herb round bed and put another blueberry bush in it and put them next to each other for the best pollination. Like I said that's just what I was told. I'm right outside of Cincinnati zone 6B. But I love how your garden is shaping up. Maybe at my next property I'll have as much room. My goal is to move here soon. been dreaming about getting out of this little Urban Homestead. I have to secretly keep my chickens. Nothing is allowed in this city. so.... I must go! But I love what you're doing! It's just gorgeous! That's how I'm going to flip my whole backyard Garden! Since 2019 my space has just been a mixture of all kinds of methods. It's only about 1,000 square feet, and I'm trying all the things so, it's more of a potager classroom Garden. Anyway, I'm flipping mine over to exactly this as well. I learned about the wood chips. The best part of my garden is the original first to raised beds that I built and they are on top of only fabric. I just keep it leaf blower cleaned. Love walking out there with my bare feet. Of course I tried the grass in some of the areas and that is horrid. Now I call that spot the hay field Lol😅 By Spring next year my little garden will looks so huge and bountiful, in all containers on fabric! It's going to look stunning when I go to sell. 😁 I'm already a night light princess so there's all kinds of color changing and twinkling warm lights back there now.❤ I'm anxious to see by the end of this video what you think about the Amazon beds. I was so so excited to get some myself that look like they were wood textured. That was going to be great the look of wood but the strength of steel... But I opened the box and was disappointed to see that the printed wrap design could simply be scratched off with my fingernail. I taped it right back up and sent them back. What a bummer!! Oh and by the way, Living Traditions Homestead did the same thing. They chose to do a fabric covered raised bed area and I looked at all the beds and they chose the hard to pronounce one. But they love what they've done as well! I don't know if Kevin is pronouncing it right but he says "VEJ-JAY-GO" WHEN I FIRST HEARD HIM I THOUGHT HE SAID VAJAYJAY!! 😂😂

Living Traditions homestead don’t put ANYTHING down on top of their weed fabric. Weed seed will sprout even in rock….

Decomposed granite is what a lot of people use in their gardens. It’s what I’m going to use for the ease of walking on and it’s available in bulk and it’s economical. Do you use BT to control your cabbage worms? I have 5 4x20 ft raised beds and I’d love to have more. Your garden is beautiful!!

I bought the lights that looks like fireworks after seeing your video. Mine all flash. Yours don't look like they flash. I would rather mine didn't. How do you keep yhem from flashing? I would rather they just stay on all the time..

i got ohuhu raised beds 6ft x 3ft at 2 for 130$ canadian... 3 yrs ago...i bought 6 more. i dont regret my purchase. i just ordered some solar lights similar to you... 😂

Love the fairy lights. I have the same lights in my garden, I find the firework lights last forever but the round white ones have been a disappointment. When filling deep beds I like to use the Hugelkulter method. I use stumps, sticks, leaves, and other organic matter. No rot-resistant woods like cedar or black walnut. I've been doing this for years and topping it off with nice soil, works great!

I SO REGRET putting my blueberry bushes in my raised beds. They get too big and you will just want more blueberry bushes. Might as well start out right with a row of them somewhere. Waste of bed space. I am going to try to pull mine out this Fall and they are just now getting productive so probably will set me back a year or two.

Ordered the firework lights (4) only three work. I can not get mine to just be solid, they will only blink. Very disappointing 😞

My deck is lit right up, yet still bears, foxes and coyotes have been recorded on my deck at night……so….probably not sorry.

I’m so sorry you have bindweed in some of your beds, that’s a disaster. You will not get rid of it unless you use glyphosate, I’m afraid. I have it all over my acre. I beat it back, but can’t get rid of it.

Temu must love you. Sadly some of the little round lights don't last very long. The dandelions lasted me for 3 years. And they are wonderful at Christmas. I bought some wonderful butterfly lights that I think you would like

Love your videos, happy you are smiling big again! Be careful with all bright white rock. It will reflect the heat up to the metal beds and anything that is growing over the edges. I find it burns plants that touch it. I use a mix of gray and cream and love it.

You'll have to give us an update if the Tophat survives in your raised container next summer. Mine did not that I had in a 25 gallon pot, zone 4b.

You should be able to source the rock in bulk. We used the small stone in our raised garden after removing the awful mulch and buying it in bulk was perfect and affordable

Hey Nicole, you should try cabbage moth decoys! They are really effective at deterring moths from laying eggs on your brassicas.

Mulch mulch and more mulch! Pull and drop those weeds as well. That will help too! Leaving the beds bare soil will just be more headache.

Municipal green waste never has long enough to reach the high temperatures needed to kill weed seeds. If you have access to a farm, could you get horse or cow manure?

That green is known as British racing green. I'd love a little vintage MG in that colour.
