Loving the workshop Dan, plenty of space. Enough room for a little mini ramp at one end for a little down time 🤘🏼

Hi Dan, have you thought about having your personnel door sprayed instead of wrapped? It’s what I do for a living, Anthracite Grey (Ral 7016) in satin Matt would look great. I’m sure we could sort something out, give me a shout if you’ve invested. Been watching the build from the start, you’re going a great job. 👌

Dont do levelling compound Dan, as soon as you drop a hammer on it it will crack. We did it on our workshop and then painted it. Most of it is cracked and looks terrible. Just paint what you have there. It will stop you from raising dust put still give you a bit of grip when the floors are oily and that.
@paulhancock8914
@paulhancock8914 Год назад
Also, it will need an epoxy DPM as the building doesn’t have one and the levelling compound will blow otherwise so will be very costly
@joe3points864

Couldn't agree more, run the machine over it again, and then epoxy paint it with a few coats
@RonaldMedia
@RonaldMedia Год назад
@@joe3points864 Is that the stuff that you can pour out and spread out. And add stuff like flakes to it? Or just a strong paint?
@joe3points864
@joe3points864 Год назад
@RonaldMedia I would just use strong industrial floor paint. You are either building a garage/workshop or you're building a showroom. Garages always get banged about.

Yep, exactly that….. levelling compound will just crack. Concrete will flatten out over time with use.

Great work buddy, Resin floor would be the way to go, can adjust the finish to suit your budget. As far as your pedestrian door colour dilemma, just spray it pretty sure you’ve got all the prep and spray kit, so all you need is a 500ml tin of RAL 7016 and a bit of thinners, job done.

I had a similar issue, not as deap as yours. I used a two part epoxi floor paint. I used more paint then if it had been flat but the total cost was less than other options. The end result seemed hard wearing and was ok still when i.moved out 12yrs later. I put the epoxi on really thick and gave it plenty of drying / hardening time between coats until I was satisfied. 4 coats...

@Dan Chambers I'm a spread and lay the odd room with my workmate, never massive sections, however it's the similar but scaled up... prep is key, clean dust free, grease free surface... then priming, you'll need a good primer, each compound brand recommends their own, but you'll find it looks like SBR, smells like SBR and works like sbr, it'll reduce suction and allow the compound to flow and bond.. some brands send 1ltr or so of fluid per bag as part of a unfuckupable 2 part system , or mixing needs to be repeatable and fast with a pre planned water level.. you can't do it alone or with someone having a go, they won't mix it fast enough or get it to you in time, you gotta hustle and the gear likes to settle in the bucket as soon as you stop spinning.. pouring it has to be spread about like a snake, dump it in one spot and you'll have a sand castle to move as the material will stay as the water seperates.. floor blades on a pole are awesome, just help the compound along and it'll be lovely and smooth.. Spike rollers pop bubbles, spike shoes let you work the area.. hopefully that give you an idea that you need to research your plan and execute it.. like with all plastering/wet trades, youre on a stop watch, these materials wait for no man.. you should be able to find more information and some advice from someone who does it more than myself, my work only sees tile and foot traffic.. look at some Refina tools, they do floor blades and stuff.. Good luck..

Don’t waste your money on a grinder mate, it’ll take so long to get that to a flat smooth surface and leveling compound just isn’t durable enough for what you are going to be doing in there
@DanChambersDAC
@DanChambersDAC Год назад
Yeah not going to bother with the grinder again. Got a friend who used the bagged levelling compound in a fabrication workshop, been down over a year has taken a beating and still looks good.

Make a few more passes with the concrete grindertn get it resin finished , it's easy enough to do, next time you concrete make yourself a float with some wood and some smooth yoga mating to pull over the concrete to smooth it off after you tamp it level

Spoken to a few people that may be able to help with levelling compound. Hopefully that will sort it. Yeah will make sure it is smoothed when we pour for the lift area.

Should have used black pvc conduit on the roof!

I did look into it but it would do my head in changing in colour form white to black.

I would think if the pro's are going to take 5 days on the grinding, you could just hire one for a few days with a couple of heads

why don't you just get an epoxy floor resin poured that will level out the rough floor the first epoxy coating is a leveling compound the second is a finish floor coating that way your not spending money getting the floor smooth then spending money putting a coating on the floor its doing the job in one go.
@DanChambersDAC
@DanChambersDAC Год назад
Ideally we would go this route but the budget is about gone now!

@@DanChambersDAC ah i seen well the quickest and cheapest would be leveling compound and a floor paint then

I'm shocked at the price of levelling compound. I used screwfix compound couple years back and it was £7 a bag. Just check the prices now. Wtf
