Chassis number one which is still alive was built from a actual production metro, red and had similar wheels. Really good build, really good it see people still love these cars. ATB....
Awesome job mate, love the 6r4's . I would be very proud of yourself, especially building it on your drive, well done mate, hope you enjoy the upcoming events.
This Is what I was working on with my Fiero with the 3.0 Litre SHO in it If the Bolt pattern is the same and the SHO engine would fit. I strongly suggest using that engine for this application Reminds me of the SHOGUN, but that setup if the transverse FWD setup stuffed right in the back Realy cool Job here my friend! Would bee cool to meet you and stay in touch to share ideas Brad
Listen some of us can only dream of doing shit like this. Man, I take my hat off to you. This project looks damned amazing. Absolutely fascinating to see this build and I hope I can get around to doing something this real soon. Great work! 👍👍👍
@Ross Armstrong....couldn't agree more. A LOT of planning went into this besides skill. That it took just 7 months was pretty amazing AND on the driveway too!!
Gareth Burrows I think they have only just finished the wiring. Can’t imagine how long it’s going to take to break it back down, rebuild the motor and box and paint it.😆
A very high quality high spec build that will immediately put this Man into a very well respected group of engineering genius. I also applaud the final finish on the trim and paintwork. He can almost name his own price if ever selling I think..
My father was a test driver for the original 6R4. He also had to record for smashing the most cars in British Leyland - whilst taking a mini around the factory for a test, the steering wheel came off going round a corner he then smashed straight into a metal fire escape on the side of a building which then fell onto a shed load of new cars. He did limp for a while but he carried on. Great vid, you have great skill and determination.
CaptainKrimson you are right my friend. Hence I called this one 6r2. It’s a v6 2wd version. So I called it an original 6r2 not a replica 6r4. Does that make sense
There is a bloke in gloucester with two!!! original 6r4's in bits, says he is going to rebuild them and has been saying that for at least 20 years from what i hear.
Brings back memories of painting the computer vision 6r4s back in the day , amongst other privateer cars .. Nice project well done In fact yours looks a better build than the originals 👍
You prolly dont give a shit but does any of you know of a trick to log back into an Instagram account?? I was dumb lost my account password. I would appreciate any help you can give me.
@Wesson Martin i really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and I'm trying it out now. Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
To do that ON YOUR DRIVE is absolute genius. Very well done, looks superb. I can only wonder at the time and trouble it took. The video is great, but can't do it real justice. Top build! 😎
What an amazing car you have created. the 6R4 is my dream car. you have gone and created a replica that is in my eye just as special. I have had the luck to sit in a few 6R4's and look round them and i hope one day to be able to see yours in the flesh too, many thanks for sharing this
Fantastic!!! @8:00 - who wouldn't want a Metro that sounded like that. The 6R4 was my favorite Group B rally car, both in rallying and rallycross back in the day. Fair play to you mate, you've created an amazing replica of an absolute legend - in your driveway! Thanks for posting and well done on some truly awesome back yard engineering. Stunning!!!
That's friggin awesome dude! A big project to take on, but you pulled it off a treat. The wheels aren't my personal preference but that's your preference and your car, so do what you want eh 😉 Sounds as good as the real ones too 👍 I remember them back in Group B days, sounded the business, not as poppy and bangy as the turbo cars but you could tell it was a 6R4 coming even before you could see it 👍👍👍
Fantastic build, and the fact this was all done on your driveway, just goes to show your skill and commitment even more. The end product looks truly amazing!
I guess as soon as i win the lotto i WILL BE KNOCKING on your door with a blank cheque. You did ALL that work on your driveway can you imagine if you had a big unit and some CNC machines , THANK YOU VERY MUCH for bringing back the memories of my youth because the Metro 6R4 was and still is my fav Group B rally car cheers man SCOOBS UK [Wales].
@@patlucas8227 Er, yeah. It's perfectly legal to drive a 6R4 on the road, if it's a road legal 6R4. There are umpteen videos of them legally on the road... Dumbo...
@@brianmurphy8790 oh right...so if,by road legal, you mean the homologated version of the 6R4,only 200 were ever made...so good luck finding one of those for sale..and to be fair they dont really look anywhere near as good as the group B spec 6R4's which are not road legal at all otherwise there would have been no need to build road legal versions in the first place....would there..?
Incredible job on that! Looks the business as well. I bet you can't stop grinning driving that around? I should imagine it attracts quite a crowd of appreciation when you park up as well? 😁👍😎😷
Car looks amazing, I can remember when the 6R4 was outlawed and there was a field full of them at Cowley all unsold and in white I think the asking price was around £16,000, In the late 90s I was lucky enough to be passenger in one around the Silverstone rally cross circuit, what a great car made from something so humble.
The only 6R4 with a sunroof, Class build a lot better than some of the crap people try to cobble together and I'll bet you never had to sell your kidney!!!!!!
Fantastic, I just found your channel looking for metros I’m rebuilding a metro city back to standard, I have also been lucky with not to much rust, subscribed
This popped up on my homepage and i started watching it then realised its the one that overtook me a year or so ago when it was white near eddy pub. It sounded brilliant 👍 my lad who was with me has liked them since and i recon hes been searching 6R4’s as hes got on on forza o xbox. I also remember your Kitten from a few years ago 👍
It was really great having a look around it in person tonight, so well built and attention to detail. Can't wait to see the little mods you've got planned. I hope to come up and see it again sometime. Cheers for showing me around.
@@bigjohnfury5662 You certainly take a hell of a lot from a short sentence, well a lot apart from what is actually being stated. You understand what it meant by 'looks better built' don't you, as oppose to 'being better built'? Away you go you self righteous tool. 'Don't deserve my knowledge' lol. Nobody deserves your bitching either but you're going to do it anyway.
I hope you don't mind swearing fella because that is f, no I won't swear but that is absolutely gorgeous, all of my friends that were into group B cars loved and yearned for a 6R4 and I covet your car tremendously 💯👍
Amazing Job mate built at home take my hat off to you. I rallied a lot of years ago MK1 Escort. I was a home build at home mechanic. But not to this Scale well done just brilliant.
I’m about to do this with a Lancia Delta from 1992. Its stock, bought it in Italy for €5500. Ordered the HF EvoII kit. Engine will probably be Audi or VW not sure at this point. Will be white with the martini logo’s on it. I’ve got recaro seats and roll cage. Don’t know if I will make it full race car or a weekend driver with a lot more comfort and gadgets needed for long distance trips through Europe.
Mate that is seriously impressive, I love the 6R4 myself and your build of a replica like this is next level stuff. I’d love to see it in person if possible at some point.
Used a Mitsubishi 3000GT twin turbo motor in mine but with Ford Sierra transmission to keep it 4WD. Using it for hillclimbs but plenty of teething issues :-)
Sounds good :-) , since this video i've rebuilt/modified the engine, with forged rods/pistons a turbo and currently running up to 1.5 bar boost with more to come lol. I looked at 4wd options when building mine but for what i use the car for (just fun on the road/track days/rwyb) the extra costs/complexity/reliability i went with 2wd.
Just watched a video about how to go obtain a new model Stratos by cutting up an Ferarri 430 and your wallet to the tune of $800K. Much smarter use of time and money here!
Thats an awesome car to have self built, it looked very much like you applied engineering know how and ability combined with the possibilities rc car racing for years opens the eyes to.
Oh my god I want that so much! Absolutely stunning job dude! As an owner of an F reg 1.3 Gta as a youngster the 6r4 has a huge place in my heart. Firstly congrats on a top job and secondly for saving a metro from the scrappers!
