Hello, Gerard, thank for your videos, I really like them. Could I ask if you have a clue why my linux VM use only a fraction of the disk space that I assign to it? I ran out of space one time and I just deleted it and I'm installing it again but I see the same results, even if I select "use the entire disk". Btw I'm using ubuntu server but the process it's the same. Ty!
You showed your new server but didn’t talk about the hardware especs. In your first video for the lab setup you gave a good amount of memory RAM and disk space for the VMs. So what you got it? A server with 96gb of RAM?
great job you thank you.. but please for new bie the server web interface can't be reach what can be the issue have try searching the forum for solution can't find
@@gerardobrien Thank you so much for your reply and hard work, I did put the port not working, I want to ask I bought a mini pc to use for the Proxmox do I need to get ethernet cable for it because I was setting it up with the wifi adapter that came with the mini pc ..I can ping the gateway but not the server and can't access the server web interface also .. and have tried to change the ip many times ..any help should I just buy the ethernet cable?
@@babybossshark6625 just make sure the Proxmox server is connected to the wifi, configured with the correct IP address details, default gateway etc and you should be able to connect ok over wifi. Obviously make sure the server and your laptop are on the same wi-fi too 👍
Hey there, this is the spec :) Lenovo ThinkSystem SE350 Intel(R) Xeon(R) D-2183IT CPU @ 2.20GHz 256GB RAM 2 x NVMe mirrored drives - proxmox installed here 4 x 2TB Disks
in the proxmox initial setup why did you change the ip address (cidr) from what was already there to "192.168.0,14" ? is that only for your setup or is that necessary for the lab ? are you changing it so that you use a different block of IPs than the one your local network is on ? if so how are you still able to connect to the gui ? i tried it and i couldnt connect to the gui . so i went back to the ip that was already filled in when i was setting up at first and it works again. is that fine for the next lab building videos or does it need to be in the 192.168,0.14 ip block ?
Hey sorry this comment was held for review and I just seen it. I rebuilt the server and simply used a different IP :) you dont need to do this to follow the lab series. Just access on whatever IP address you have it set up with
What kind of specs does a system need to run this lab? I have been thinking of starting a lab with a system that can host something similar but, don't want to spend whole lot of money...@@gerardobrien
You can find some decent servers on Ebay actually..then buy some additional parts to increase RAM and storage. Or you can purchase some Intel Nucs which would make a nice Proxmox cluster. My server is maxed out with RAM (256gb) and 6TB storage, its small enough but the fans are a little too loud. All depends on what you want to run in your lab really, and if you want it turned on full time. Hope that helps :)
