The most carriages a train in the UK runs with is 12 carriages, however the Eurostar, which you can't use for journeys within the UK, has trains of up to 16-18 carriages. Also, the Virgin+Avanti consist isn't too unrealistic as when the franchise was transferred from Virgin to Avanti, it took time for all the trains to be repainted.

there are, however, intermediate stops in the UK for Eurostars so that's wrong. second thing to call it wrong are heritage trains running on mainline every month, I've seen some going up to 14 carriages!

Limit is 12 coaches in br with 3 coupled together but irl is only 12 carriages but sometimes broken down trains make 15/20 etc. even a 23 coach has been made before

Also only trains that have the same coupler can couple together (BSI couplers can couple to only other BSI’s)😊

I would advise thinking of every 0.1 miles as 10mph deceleration, and aim to reach the platform (when the distance is 0 miles) at about 30-40mph.

Seniac for a long train like that you should have a second locomotive instead of a driving trailer for more acceleration and braking power. Also the max units is 3, however there is also max coaches too which I do not know.

The most is 12 but sometime on a tracking system has said 15 coaches for no reason 8:16 also what you said about leaving a station you will have more power to leave.

@Seniac, there is a limit of 3 units for trains 4 coaches and under, and trains 5 coaches and over have a limit of 2 units, trains 7 coaches and over have a limit of 1 unit.

Usually it would be 5,9 or 10 coaches for intercity so that would be realistic also stay in the cab as it is easier to see and is less laggy

In the UK the longest train that is just 1 unit is the class 700/1 which has a length of 12 coaches and a top speed of 100mph, and trains that go in the UK but also international is the class 373/0 with a length of 18 carriages and has a top speed of 186mph.
