My perfect series? Jon Pertwee season 7

In my perfect season, I have full control over the BBC and have demanded that two-parters are given a ninety minute slot wherever they occur during the run. And the BBC said, “Whatever you say, sir.” I also deliberately scheduled the season so that the Christmas special would fall within the thirteen-episode run as a special extra episode, and added that it didn’t have to be about Christmas, to which the BBC said, “What an excellent idea, sir. Would you like a massage?” I also decided that the episodes should run in the order in which they were originally broadcast, and I didn’t care that Heaven Sent was in the middle of another pair of linked episodes, since it’s phenomenal, whereas the other two are just really good, and the public has enough intelligence to cope with a bit of displacement. 1 - The Empty Child / The Doctor Dances 2 - The Impossible Planet / The Satan Pit 3 - The Girl in the Fireplace 4 - Human Nature / The Family of Blood 5 - Silence in the Library / Forest of the Dead 6 - Turn Left 7 - The Time of Angels / Flesh and Stone 8 - The Doctor’s Wife 9 - The Impossible Astronaut / The Day of the Moon 10 - Vincent and the Doctor XMAS SPECIAL: The Day of the Doctor 11 - The Magician’s Apprentice / The Witch’s Familiar 12 - Heaven Sent 13 - World Enough and Time / The Doctor Falls Stories that fought hard, but lost out in the final round were: Utopia A Christmas Carol Asylum of the Daleks The Name of the Doctor Flatline Several BBC executives argued that I couldn’t make the season twenty episodes long, and they won the battle. I did fire them all, though. Some other executives started to say that they wanted episodes from season eleven in the list. I fired them before they finished speaking.

Agree that Eleventh Hour is best post regeneration episode.

Granted, Heaven Sent follows on from Face the Raven and leads into Hell Bent (why, oh why?!) but it's a self-contained episode, exemplified by its lack of similarity to any other episode

Here is mine: Episode 1: Asylum of the Daleks - I love that they decided the Daleks needed a Prime Minister, my favourite moment was either when the entire episode was bogged down by a couple divorcing, introducing a version of the greatest companion in the history of Doctor Who, or when Theresa ExtermiMayt's Skaxit vote was rejected by the Dalek House of Commons. Episode 2: Smile - Emojis are cool! 😍😍😍 Episode 3: Robot of Sherwood - For once, we get a pure historical in New Who! Not only that, it's 100% accurate and true to real life events. Quite frankly, 'The Aztecs' or 'The Massacre of St. Bartholomew's Ever' don't even compare. Episode 4 and 5: Daleks in Manhattan/Evolution of the Daleks - After the frankly generic and boring use of the Daleks in series 1, we FINALLY get an interesting Dalek story! My favourite moment was either the Oscar-worthy performance of thaaah Humaaahn Daaaaahlek, or one of the Hooverville members being the absolute best Spider-Man we've ever had. Episode 6: The Bells of St. John - After weeks of buildup from episode 1, the greatest companion in the history of the show finally appears for real! What a better way of doing this than yet another genius example of Moffat making real-life objects scary - both Wi-Fi and spoons, in one fell swoop. Episode 7: Kill the Moon - What, you think the moon being an egg is stupid? Go watch David Attenborough or something if you want realistic boring stuff, Doctor Who is all about the bizarre. Episode 8: The Witchfinders - I like how the ending is paced extremely well and there's no rushing to the conclusion. Such a shame that Alan Cumming's hammy performance ruins the episode a little. Episode 9: Sleep No More - One of Mark Gatiss's best scripts. Killer eye gunk, wow, I definitely won't be sleeping tonight! Episode 10: The Battle of Ranskoor Av Kolos - Perfect mid-to-late series filler. Nothing too exciting so we can build to the last episode, it works perfectly as that. Good job it's not the finale or anything. Episode 11: The Lodger - Quite frankly, I can't get enough of the comedy genius of James Corden. Hence... Episode 12: Closing Time - Even more Corden, except this time it's also the best Cyberman story since Silver Nemesis! Episode 13: Hell Bent - Sadly I only had room for one more episode so I had to cut one part out, so I needed a two-part finale with one terrible part and one amazing part. Where else to look, it's perfect! Cut out that overlong boring wall-breaking trash and just stick the greatest piece of dramatic writing ever conceived as your grand finale! Thank God they recast Rasillon, he shouldn't be played by the worst James Bond ever.

Having just rewatched the Eleventh Hour- I 110% agree. From the first second of his appearance, Matt just *IS* the Doctor! School Reunion; one of my all time favourites; though I’ve never been able to watch it without turning into an emotional wreck. From Sarah’s first appearance was a huge thrill of emotion like a tidal wave! Then K9! Oh god-he’s a scene stealer for me! Under the Lake/Before the Flood-so this! Fantastic story-all the cogs work well to male a fascinating whole and Capaldi’s explanation of the boot strap paradox at the start of part 2 is excellent! Should also win the prizes for 1. Killing off a character that you really didn’t want to go in part 2. And 2. Having a diverse cast (as this is all that’s important nowadays 😜🤣) without making a song and dance about being progressive. The deaf character is excellent and I LOVE the sequence with the axe; I was SCREAMING at the screen when I first saw that! Shock. Horror. Someone doesn’t like *the best series since time began* 😜 Will expect your Who fandom pass to be returned to the BBC, and your TARDIS key to be returned 🤣🤣🤣 Ace video again, mate!

David Tennant and Matt Smith are some of my favorite Doctors and I think they had some of the best companions as well. That's not even mentioning some of the monsters that came out during that time! Honorable mentions to my list are the Silence in the Library and Forest of the Dead episodes (the Vashta Nerada made me double-take on all shadows for ages after seeing it for the first time) and every other episode of particularly series 4 and 5. These two series are my absolute favorite series of Doctor Who.

I tried to follow your guidelines and this is what I came up with! 1. *Asylum of the Daleks* - Best series opener by far, and my favourite Matt Smith story 2. *Smile* - Most underrated episode and very Black-Mirror-esque 3. *The Waters of Mars* - As close as being a perfect horror story as Doctor Who gets 4/5. *Daleks in Manhattan* / *Evolution of the Daleks* - Somehow explores the psychology of both the Doctor and the Daleks even better than Dalek did (and I love Dalek) 6. *Extremis* - A deep and perplexing mystery story 7/8. *The Impossible Planet* / *The Satan Pit* - Favourite Tennant story, favourite New-Who aliens (the Ood) and favourite soundtrack 9. *Flatline* - Mind-bending and bizarre 10/11. *The Empty Child* / *The Doctor Dances* - Favourite ever New-Who story, shows Eccleston's Doctor, Rose, Captain Jack, creepy aliens AND Moffat's script writing ability at their best 12/13. *The Sound of Drums* / *Last of the Time Lords* - Because John Simm's Master pretty much just steals the show Christmas special. *Last Christmas* - All other Christmas specials are essentially meant to be just a bit of light family entertainment, but this gets a shoutout for being something more

Really good list mate and hard to argue with those episodes! If I had to comprise a series it’d probably be a sort of mish mash of mine and Jack’s top 10 lists: 1. 11th Hour 2. Into the Dalek 3. Mummy on the Orient Express 4/5. Impossible Astronaut/Day of the Moon (I know it was a series opener but not quite as good as 11th Hour) 6. Dalek 7. Listen 8/9: Human Nature/Family of Blood 10: Cold War 11. Blink 12. Heaven Sent (I refuse to associate it with the dogshite that followed, call it denial haha) 13/14 (I cheated and threw in an extra episode lol) Bad Wolf/POTW. Wasn’t in our top 10s but in hindsight and for finale purposes it is rightly the best of the new series

I love the empty child. The doctor isn't all knowing, he's compassionate, and reaching out to touch the child unaware of the risk of nanite infection. It just links up beautifully with Capaldi's closing arc comments, _Run Fast, Laugh Hard, _*_Be Kind._*

11 series. Everyone of them have mora than 10 episodes (+specials). That mean there are something like 120 episodes. In your dream series you can use only 13 episodes. You take 5 from first series (which one was accually the best :P)

I put 3 the same as you and I don't actually count Heaven Sent as a 2 parter with Hell Bent. Heaven Sent doesn't make it in because of Series 5 episodes. I love Vincent and the Doctor and all of those stories you mentioned. However as a special I would inclued Day of the Doctor Waters of Mars. As an episode 8 I would inclued Mummy on the oreient express. Any Captain Jack story is welcome though.

I love the empty child the scene with Richard Wilson (Dr. Constantine) morphs the gas mask on his face 👌such a memorable moment , but I have got to say even though this is probably the second best Moffat story I don't like the title of the second part "The doctor Dances". Other than that a really awesome and creepy story.

I would have added impossible planet and Satan pit instead of before the flood two parter. Those two episodes are really good imo

I think of you’re going to make a dream series in order to make it seem like an actual series would be to have each episode contain the same doctor as otherwise it would just seem like you’re watching random episodes.
