My Thoughts On The Jodie Whittaker Era 

The Doctor being the timeless child was so disheartening to me for exactly what you said; The Doctor was a nobody who made themself a somebody, someboday great and good who helps people because they're kind, and it was all their doing. I really looked up to that, but I guess now I'd have to born special to be like The Doctor. It felt like they killed every Doctor at once. I've gotten passed it some, but... I don't know, I just hope next series gives me The Doctor I've been looking up to.

To be honest I’m just happy we are moving on . In my honest opinion I think the chibnall era has failed I gave it too many chances and I personally was let down every time. I have been appalled by what the fandom has become a toxic hive mind where your not allowed a different opinion or to express it without being bullied harassed doxed Shamed sent inappropriate pictures or threats . This is a tv show at the end of the day and no one deserves to be treated so disgustingly. I pray When they are officially gone everyone takes a step back catches their breaths and chill so the healing can start . The Doctor wouldn’t be happy with how this fandom is right now .

I think that, unironically, the only really good thing about this era of the show is how well everyone seems to be getting along behind the scenes. Whatever may be said about Chibnall he has steered a happy ship and when it comes to cast and crew being looked after it's been impeccable, they all genuinely seem as tight-knit as the Unit Family in the 70s behind the lens and there's something in that. On-screen though, yeah... I'm just looking forward to see what can be done to sort things out and hopefully the show can get some relevancy again. Squid Game, Stranger things etc have been recently making the waves in Pop Culture that Doctor Who USED to be making only a few years ago, and it's going to be a huge mountain to climb back up, if it can even be done.

At the moment I am re-watchng David Tennants and Matt Smiths series and Oh my gosh compared to this era they feel like Heaven. I must admit the acting wasn't to terrible but what the actors had to work with to act as there characters gave them a hard job and the end only said the lines because it was what Chinball wrote for them to say. I am very excited for the next era. Hopefully some improvement.

I'd like if it were revealed that this entire line from the timeless child to Whittaker took place in e-space or alternate universe

The most ironic thing about this era if how Jodie is so focused on making it for a kids and setting a great example yet she is the poster child for how it turned a character that is exponentially a good force in the universe that could be anyone into a "Chosen One" archetype, pretty much saying to kids everywhere "U have to be special in order to do good" and yet she stands by what she has done. Bloody mind boggling

To be honest I've really tried with this era and I've gotten very little out of it. There's so little going on here in terms of imagination or storytelling, despite the actors all trying their best and some really great production design and effects. It's just felt like Who on autopilot, giving us simply what we expect instead of daring to be creative or challenging which even the worst of Moffat's era managed to achieve (I'm looking at you Series 7 and 9)

I'm glad to see the end of the Chibnall era. I'm looking forward to the return of RTD, who is someone that loves and cares about the show and can write a good story.

Talking about the lack of development of Ryan and how so much which could have been done with his character, it occurred to me that the companions in the "Sarah Jane Adventures" were far better developed than Yaz, Graham, or Ryan put together and multiplied by 10.

I gave it a try, but outside of all the aforementioned issues, I just couldn't get past the utilitarian writing. You touched on it with the remark about how the viewer needs to be told outright that Yaz is an amazing person, but those kinds of scenes were just so jarring. It was very immersion-breaking to have such a clearly defined 'Character moment now' scene. It's said that good writing is like good puppeteering: You can't see the strings. I couldn't see the show for all the strings that were blatantly in my face.

As a girl i am embarrassed to have 13 as the first female doctor. She's genuinely stupid and tries so hard to be quirky but it always falls flat on its face. She's always scared or stressed, and doesn't know what to do. That's not very #girlboss of her. Don't even get me started on the "socially awkward" fiasco

I really recommend reading some of the Thirteenth Doctor era books if you ever have time, especially for Yaz, she has so much more to do and her being a police officer actually gets brought up and is relevant to her character, main recommendations are the books by David Solomons and also The Wonderful Doctor of Oz

Chris Chibnall did the impossible and made Doctor Who not fun for me. Today is the last day of this 5 year torture, may that clown never, fucking ever, touch Doctor Who again.

I completely agree! After Jodie's first season, my family stopped watching and that is so sad. I was actually hoping DW would just get dropped and better writers would pick it up again in 10 or 20 years and make it all new again.

There was once a RU-vidr called CentreLeft who did a video stating his opinions about the 13th Doctor's era where stated that he didn't want to watch the show anymore (which is how I feel) and that people who said they didn't like it would be accused of being sexist or racist when they're not. I also never watched The Chase before the 13th Doctor's time and only did because I had seen bits of a Celebrity episode (though you're right that it's kind of hard to separate Graham from Walsh).

I've quite enjoyed it personally. I have, however, found myself revisiting Classic Who and the RTD Era more often, which is a good thing really. I've been able to find enjoyment in most of this era's stories but I am looking forward to hopefully some better storytelling in RTD's next era.

I agree with everything he said. I don't have a problem with a female Doctor, I have a problem with the motivation. The motivation was obvious in the writing. I also don't see a person that has regenerating for thousands of years into a male after male after male to all the sudden jump to a female, needs a good writer to make that make sense.

To be fair, they tried the "The Doctor is much more that a Timelord" thing in Sylvester McCoy's run. It's probably for the best the cancellation happened before they could get that fully cooked.

I like the ideas Chibnal brought to Doctor Who tbh. People don't talk enough about how bad of a place Moffat left the show. He had tried to up the stakes and outdo himself every season, while jamming in so many old enemies and tired tropes that the show stagnated. I like a lot from Moffat's era (Capaldi is my favorite Doctor) but he didn't leave the show any room to grow. Chibnal saw that and tried to take the show in a distinctly different direction, which was the only way to keep it alive. Unfortunately he was just really bad at executing any of the ideas he had and we were left with a mess.

The fandom is toxic from either side, it seems to be implied that you think it's mainly the people who are defensive about the show who are toxic but I might've just gotten the wrong end of the stick there. Also while I don't think people who dislike this era should automatically be called bigots, there are a lot of genuine bigots like Bowlestrek and Nerdrotic etc who taint the fandom with their gross views.

Completely agree. After being a fan of the show my entire life, I switched off. Similarly I very rarely share my opinion publicly because of the labels that you get given - bigot etc (which isn’t the case). The lore changes are horrifying - someone really should’ve said “no” and stopped them at the ideas stage for me. I’ve been struggling to enjoy Who during this time, and my interest arguably rocketed during the wilderness years. My other social media Who page makes zero reference to the current era, but again keep opinions about it to myself - I don’t need that kind of cr*p tbh. Always great and balanced vid though Wingy! Always love your explanations, as you can back up with your reasons. Keep up the cracking work 🤩😎

For the most part I feel like this era is very much going through the motions, stuff that we'd typically see in the past few seasons though is done more out of obligation than creative intent, specifically Chibnall's scripts in s11/12. There aren't any stories I'd call bad, mostly just frustratingly mediocre, stories we've seen before without much new. It's a shame as the guest writers have otherwise given us some pretty good stories, especially the historicals. Also, while Flux was a bit of a mess, it does feel like Chibnall seems to be having more fun I'll take a fun mess over a decent but dull story like Arachnids in the UK.

IMO the main highs and lows of the era: *PROS* - It proved within minutes that the Doctor can be female; I had my doubts but they were quickly disspelled by Whittaker's talents - It brought back a level of accessibility that Moffat had somewhat hindered with his emphasis on heavy story arcs - Historical episodes were consistent highlights - It did try one or two interesting things that the rebooted show hadn't done before, e.g. a fully-serialised series (Flux) - It had fun with classic characters and monsters, and not just the big three villains; I loved how huge the Sontarans were in S13 and that someone finally did something with the goddamn Sea Devils *CONS* - I just don't feel like Chibnall is a good fit for sci-fi, at least not in such a big capacity; he either didn't have enough imagination, or when he did it just felt like he was tossing ideas at the wall without properly developing them - Pretty much none of the characters were particularly well-written, which I find weird because Chibnall's characters were always a strong point in his previous works (e.g. Broadchurch) - It didn't really respect anything the show had done since the reboot; destroying Gallifrey was such an anti-climactic idea considering the journey it took to bring it back to begin with - On a similar note, Thirteen herself felt shallow after Doctors Nine through Twelve were all so well-developed and went through so much growth (I actually think she would've fit in better during the classic series) - I was a little disappointed by Akinola's work on the score; aside from the Doctor's and Master's themes there were only one or two memorable pieces, and his variation on the main theme wasn't strong enough to warrant keeping it for the entire era

In regards to the storytelling, most of the writers in this era never work in a sci-fi/fantasy genre. And most of the writers were not fans or following Doctor Who. Some of the writer also wrote plays which is a different way to storytell a screenplay. It takes a special kind of imagination to tell a sci-fi story. It takes years of honing that craft to do it at a high level. I think it was unfair to ask these people to write on a show that they were not following in a medium that they weren't accustom and expect them to tell a good story on the international scene. It's particularly tragic for them when all eyes was tuning in to see the 1st female Doctor in franchise history. The writing need to be spot on and it failed. I get why they chose these people. But there should have been someone who was a fan of the show at the very least or Sci-fi.

I have always said that Series 11 should have just been The Doctor and Yaz, and Ryan and Graham should have been like Jackie and Mickey in Series 1 and 2.

I maintain the Renegade Doctor should have been a villain, and her pre Hartnell ones as well. It would have created a new theme that played with how the Doctor is this monster with so many rules to keep it from destroying everything. It would have made the Master mind breaking her feel so much more powerful, with her seeing her atrocities she doesn’t remember, and then the ones she does. Replay the burning of Galifrey, the talk down from Good Man Goes to War, Timelord Victorious, torturing the Dalek, trying to kill the caveman as 1. Then the story becomes about becoming better, which btw was the first doctor’s story arc. It all culminates when during the finale, yeah she doesn’t find her arch till her regeneration story, she has to choose from stifling her guilt by finding out the why to what she did, or rushing to save the world. She chooses to save the world, and the chameleon arch is destroyed. We cut off her past, while still giving the screenwriters an out on how to give the doctor more regenerations.

My abiding impression of this era is that the lead writer and the lead actress were never trying. It just came across as so passionless. There was no dotting of the "I"s and crossing of the "T"s. Stuff was put on screen and no one cared about any of it except the crew who mostly tried their best with shit material, shit performances and mostly shit directors.

in the case of the doctor not comforting graham when he needed it there was no time left in the episode to do it and plus there really are no words to properly allay his fears. it might have been better if they would have had the next episode be where graham learned that what he expected of the doctor is almost an impossible thing to do.

I wouldn't be surprised if they deliberately made Doctor Who bland so they could claim the "You hate Doctor Who because they're a woman, ohmygogyoursexist!!!!", ala "Ghostbusters" 2016.

The biggest enemy of any Doctor is bad writing.

I agree with your criticisms, in particular the way that the Doctor is written to be the opposite of what the character should be. My pet hate is the bad science. This may seem odd because the central character has a machine that can go backwards in time and is larger on the inside. But Doctor Who used to pretend to be sci-fi. Now it doesn't bother, it is pure fantasy: the sonic screwdriver as magic wand is particularly irritating. The technobabble is gobbledygook, which doesn't advance the plot and the actor can't deliver convincingly. Why do the Sea Devils want to flip the magnetic poles? This happens naturally and has no effect. Why do they want to flood the planet? The Earth wasn't more watery in their age. How do they get the stars to move? Why doesn't the Doctor use Time Lord technology to cure Graham's cancer? The history is bad too. Why are early 19th century Chinese pirates wearing trainers? The writers of the awful scene where the Doctor changes the Master's colour seem to be unaware that the Third Reich had an Indian legion. Because Chibnall's Who is awful across the board, it is easier to pick out the bits that were good - the cinematography and some of the design (but not the Doctor's costume or the Tardis interior).

I've also been bashed somewhat about my dislike of it, by both my mum and sister (who also has Dyspraxia, like Ryan). My dad also tried to get me to like the Timeless Child, seeing that it changes everything that we know about The Doctor, but I knew what it actually was. By the way, the episode you were thinking of was Can You Hear Me? and I agree that it was completely out of character for The Doctor to act that way in that episode and Arachnids in the UK. I also agree on what you said about Chibnall not bringing back any old enemies of The Doctor for Series 11 (Seasons 7, 13 and 16 A.K.A. the Key to Time season didn't do so and introduced some notable enemies), but it also didn't bring back any familiar faces to the show (not just enemies but former companions, old friends like Kate and Osgood or neutral races like the Ood) and we instead got a few meagre references. Also, we got the Skithra from Nikola Tesla's Night of Terror (which is an episode considered good by fans) but that's still a long way away from original antagonists as opposed to returning ones. We could also count Zellin, but there's most definitely a 100% chance he was an Eternal (the race The Fifth Doctor met in Enlightenment, so a possible old enemy but not confirmed). I also really hate the Timeless Child since it was The Doctor (maybe Rassilon was a more worthy candidate than that if a non-original character is going to be used). Also, that story you were thinking of was The Ribos Operation and what Romana said was that he scraped at 51% on his second try. That Time Lord messenger from Terror of the Autons also said about how much better The Master did than The Doctor in Cosmic Science, while The Doctor claimed he was a late developer.

I’m not too critical of this era, but mainly because I don’t think I’m a critical person. This era has been a vibe, but I completely understand where you’re coming from. It had a very promising start, but seemed to peter out after a few episodes in series 11. I turned off after that point. Chibnall improved with every series IMO, lore changes aside, which I think does deserve highlighting.

Arachnids in the UK and I'm like 'where is Capaldi?' S12 had episodes 5-7 be co-written by Chris Chibnall. No, the stories would have been better if he didn't co-write those episodes. Sacha should have been the Doctor, end of. Chibs just made Doctor Who feel like a kid's show with the you-are-awesome-but-you-did-nothing, show don't tell, heavy dialogue, chosen people etc. It didn't feel like a family show.

You made some good points with some great supporting details. I have enjoyed Jodi’s era, but some of the missteps have definitely plagued it. The scene were she blows off Graham’s cancer conversation is beyond jarring. Socially awkward does not mean rude and apathetic. Unfortunately, classic who left a lot on the table with companion development such as not really exploring Nyssa’s trauma over the Master wearing her dad’s body or mourning Adria, but it did touchnonnTefan’s trauma or after effects of being possessed& Ace was the first to really be developed (Leela grew some). I agree that the series could’ve benefited from an arc of searching for the Tardis which may have allowe for more character moments. I really wish themes such as the Time Lords are back & out there somewhere, the Fugitive Doctor, and the Timeless child we’re giving more gravity and not just picked back up randomly. If thenDoctor is the Timeless child or curious about what the Timeless Child is, this is a being who has the time and resources as well as networks with enough myriad beings to figure this out without waiting for the answers to simply find him/her.

Excellent video, and I agree with much of what you say. The only thing I don't see is the old chestnut of Jodie basing her Doctor on Smith and Tennant, but for me she has none of Ten's confidence, nor the adolescent swagger of Eleven. I think the issue isn't so much in Jodie's interpretation, but in the fact that Thirteen being a hare-brained chatterbox is baked into her (often badly-written) dialogue. This Doctor is self-consciously written as "dippy", and there are only so many ways for an actor to play that, so I don't blame Jodie. What characterisation she _does_ manage to bring to the role strikes me as pure Jodie Whittaker, judging by her real-life persona in interviews and panels. Rather than copying anyone in particular, my take on it is that she's largely playing the role as herself, albeit within the severe constraints of Thirteen's character as written on the page.

I think this era has been a mixed bag. On the positive note: The Master, the historical episodes and making the Daleks scary again. On the negative note: Mixed messages in the writing, trying to do big story plots that doesn't hold together and finally, deliver so few episodes in such a long time.

One word to sum up the Whittaker era: Consistency It never got better than itself, but it could have gone in worse directions. It's enjoyably flawed

While I understand (and even agree) with a lot of your points, I can’t bring myself to dislike the era, I have enjoyed close to every episode (with 2 major exceptions being “Orphan 55” & “The Legend Of The Sea Devils”). My main gripe with the era (and, to an extent, fandom in general) is that it’s become popular to hate people for not liking something that you do. With Doctor Who, Thasmin was something created by the fandom with very little basis other than the fact that anyone can get two characters and say “The way they look at each other…” and believe that they’re in love. I somewhat believe that “The Legend Of The Sea Devils” would have been a more fleshed out story had Chris Chibnall ignored the fandom’s desperation for Thasmin.

There are so many things I dislike of this era apart from the ones you mention: - There are two kind of resolutions for every threat or cliffhanger: A) Somebody else helps (the spaceship appears when they are stranded in space, Captain Jack rescued her for the spacd jail, the weeping angels decided to turn her back to herself, etc.) Or B) she points out her sonic screwdriver to a machine and that's it, she changes that weapon, or return the enemy to its spaceship, etc. There is no clever solution like Eleven using the moon landing video to defeat the Silence. Not even remotely closed. - All the companions not only lack personality, they all agree with The Doctor. Except that time Graham wanted to kill the Teeth alien for killing his wife, 99% of the dialogue is basicaly the companions pointing out something weird, The Doctor explaining it and all of them trying to solve it. Interesting and complex relationships like Rose and Nine, The Ponds and Eleven, Ten and Donna, Twelve and Clara? Nothing like that at all. - The TARDIS is not longer a magical and mysterious place where good drama happens. It's just al elevator for this Doctor that uses to go from one place to the next one. - Chibnall was more focused in delivering the social message that he hired writers that were activists in that matter. He didn't give a fuck about hiring great scifi writers. He was more interested in giving us stories so superfitial about racism, mental health, homophobia, capitalism... than a good fun and creative scifi adventure.

Writers use returning villains and nostalgia when the new stuff they're attempting isn't working, the reason it gets boring is because they generally don't write better stuff when they are using established characters than they do when they're trying to be original; a bad writer is a bad writer.

I did not nor will I watch a single episode. When a gender swap or race swap occurs in a show I refuse to watch, because it is always in the name of inclusion, that means that in the mind of the people making the swap it was not ment for anyone but the people who looked like the protagonist , so there for the changes are purposely made to exclude people. Because you can't swap for inclusion with out exclusion, only adding will ever truly represent inclusion.

There has been only one episode that I enjoyed, Fugitive of the Judoon. It’s the only episode I can actually remember. The rest, nothing.

Thanks for this Wingy. I watched every episode as scheduled as I have been a fan since 1975. This era has been very poor. I have not enjoyed it as it was too political , badly written and in parts, badly acted. I agree with what Wingy said about the real problem being the writing. Jodie would have been a brilliant Doctor with good writing. Fingers crossed for Sunday.

Just one more thing. I love missy, she is a my favourite version of master, Michele Gomez did a astounding job. It really hurts how they just don’t even bother to explain this version. Is it pre-missy or post-missy? Both makes no sense. And it is sad to see canceling of huge character development to do “timeless child”…😢😢😢

I really appreciate your channel. While I’m a fan of the Chibnall era myself, I understand that you’re not, and instead of you going on and on about how much you hate it and just fuelling the negativity of the fandom, you instead talk about the parts of the show that you do like. I’ve just started the video so I’m sure it might be more negative than usual, but I think that at least one video with your thoughts on this era are deserved, and I’d certainly be interested into seeing what parts I enjoyed that you didn’t, and maybe vice versa.

I hated the Graham/ doctor cancer scene, no other doctor would act like that, the doctor is called the doctor because she helps people ,and knows what to say if her friends are feeling down

Personally feel there were positives and negatives in this era too. Some storylines had me intrigued but some left me feel so bored that I just switched off. Don’t hate Jodie either, I just feel that it is just wasted potential. I hope she gets a chance to explore big finish and really show her character but again it’s too little too late.

The Graham scene where he confides in the doctor and then she just goes "ah I'm socially awkward" pissed me off so much. I can't think of a single previous doctor who wouldn't have say there and comforted their companion. I started to kinda like Graham and so this really made me mad.

It's been five years of absolute Hell. Jodie stans wishing death on people, trolling, othering, calling anyone critical every name under the sun, it's been insufferable. Now they're going after Tennant and RTD. It's really tedious. I do not blame you at all for steering clear.

That scene between the Doctor and Graham bugs the heck out of me... even now. The Chibnall/Whittaker era changed "Companion" to "Fam"... which I have always assumed was short for "Family". But when Graham confesses to the Doctor that he's afraid his cancer might be coming back, she can't spare a comforting, reassuring or sympathetic word for him??? For a member of her "Fam"? Come on.

I hated the 13th Doctor era.....until I saw the 60th anniversary specials! I'll hand it to this show, they find so many ways to disappoint.

I remember being so excited about a female doctor. The intro of Jodi in the woods gave me chills. Now self disclaimer I tend to love the current doctor and I do start to warm up to the new one gradually. The first episode came and the villain I felt was transparent and not a villain at all. To not show the new Tardis in the first episode gave me a glimpse of what’s to come. I was so angered. How can you make us wait like that? Then a few episodes down the line I was so displeased. Making her own sonic was hard to digest but ok go with the flow. Then came the frog and I was done. Jodi I feel like you could had been (in my opinion) the best doctor out there and was handed bad stories. Now the new era. I love David Tennant and I am glad he’s back however am I the only one who feels a little awkward? This is Ncuti’s era and I feel like that in away is now taken from him. I know we at this time don’t know what direction this is taking but I feel like it would’ve been better if we had Ncuti first.

Twitter will always be a cesspool of shit regardless, but yeah Doctor Who fandom toxicity has really peaked in this era. There are people who are just hating on the show because they are bigoted and hate women and so on, they absolutely do exist, but that doesn't mean the show is exempt from criticism

I did reviews on Jody's first season. By the end of it I just didn't care. It didn't feel like the same character or the same show to me so I stopped. But in the earlier video I made when the announcement came out of Jodi Whitaker taking over the role the very thing I said was as long as we get good stories I don't care. And I just kind of disagree on your idea that if Jodi had been given the same material that David Tennant had she would be just as popular because I don't think she has the charisma or the acting ability that David Tennant has.

I have watched Dr Who since John Pertwee, I loved the reboot Dr Who but when it got to 13 I just couldn't do it, and not because they changed the sex, it was just because it was not done for the story, it was done for political correctness and feminism, It went exactly where I thought it would, a feminist lecture man hater every week

With the lack of promotion and trailers they may aswell boot them out the door literally.

i think it’s an ok era, i don’t like the lore changes that you mentioned, they go against everything that makes the character special, and the exposition at times can be way too much. but i do think they’re is more to Graham than just ‘Bradley Walsh’ losing the woman he loves and trying to win over Ryan in opinion was an interesting arc, and I do think Jodie did try her best in the role, but it must hard for her to deliver lines that sound like a child wrote them.

As glad as I am to see the back of Jodie I can't say I'm overjoyed at the new era hoving into view,to be blunt I'm not sure I can be bothered to watch Gatwa given what the show and fandom has become. Spot on with your observations lsd !!!

I can’t disagree about the writing, acting and lore changes in this era but I can’t say I haven’t enjoyed it all the same as I’ve still found a lot of it entertaining. I’m looking forward to seeing what comes next… “Still, the future lies this way” ⬆️

Personally, I like this era. I like the 13th Doctor. I like her child like wonder and excitement. Whenever she meets a historical figure or a race she's always wanted to meet or even something like an antimatter drive she gets all excited and giddy and I really like that about her. The rest of her personality however are aspects from previous Doctors with some aspects being done better but most of them are just the same as or worse. She could've been great, I was hoping that with the Doctor being a woman they'd take the character in a completely new and fresh direction but we just got another Doctor, not a different Doctor. The historicals are the highlights. When I came away from episodes like 'Tooth and Claw' or 'Victory of the Daleks' I didn't learn anything about Queen Victoria or Winston Churchill. When I watched 'Rosa' and 'Nikola Tesla's Night of Terror' I came away know who they were and why they're a famous historical figure. Even in ' The Witchfinders' which is the worst episode of the era (Orphan 55 isn't the worst because it's a 'so bad it's good' episode. It's basically the Sharknado of Doctor Who) I still cane away from that episode knowing about King James. The Timeless Child I think is a really good idea. There's so much potential with that idea and you can do a lot with it. I don't mind that it's the Doctor because it gives her a journey to go on but it doesn't really go anywhere and in all honesty I just wish it was the Master. It at least explains why the Master was so angry and the fandom wouldn't be as aggresively angry about it. Overall, I really liked this era, but even though I enjoyed it, I can't deny the Doctor being morally flippant and being inconsistant (which most of the inconsistances could easily be changed by changing one line of dialogue e.g. Arachnids in the UK "I love a conspiracy" Kerblam! "Don't like conspiracies" when she should've said "Normally I like conspiracies, but something about this feels off" instead) and the boring companions and bland tone of it. I liked it, but Steven Moffat and RTD did a much better job

Honestly Jodie was the only thing I liked about her era, that being said shes pretty low in my rankings overall so its not saying much. Overall I found that this era had stories that were either predictable where I could see where its gonna go after the first 10-15 min, or makes no fucking sense where I leave thinking "yes I just watched actors move around sets whilst speaking words". I think its a shame as going in I thought the characters could be really interesting and as someone whose favorite era is Hartnells having a more packed Tardis wasn't as big a turn off for me, however I found that with Whittaker the crowded Tardis just left all the characters feeling under developed. I'd have personally made it just Graham and Ryan at first let them resolve the whole dead wife/gran and personal tension and have Yaz be a side character who helps Ryan through it and eventually swaps out Graham as a new member. Also a small thing but I found that a lot of comedy in the show felt very forced where they were trying to make a joke land and be that joke everyone quotes but they end up falling flat and making me wince. When I look back in the era its hard to find an episode I actually liked which is a great shame. And needless to say not happy with the timeless child lore change for the same reasons stated in this video. I think Jodie deserved better, the human race is full of shitty people and no doubt she'll be pestered in person and on social media about how awful she was for years to come.

In my opinion it started going downhill after Matt Smith left. Peter Capaldi and Jodie Whittaker are both great actors. It's the writing and supporting characters that ultimately fail. I'm so glad the show is getting new life and seems to be returning to form.

I found it to be awful as an era but me and my dad still watched it laughing how bad it was after each episode. Like the visuals do look good as you can see the budget. Will be glad this era will be swept under the rug of a dumpster fire

I feel like jo Martin was a prime example on why Jodie didn’t work.. Jo was in 3 episode and felt more like the doctor and clicked, like yeah that’s the doctor and I never felt like that with Jodie.
