OK. Now we’ve waited two or three years for this. You’ve done a superb job of building the suspense, let’s get rolling. Can we have the engine built by, let’s say, Friday of next week?

I have been watching your videos for the last two years. You are doing incredible work here which I am excited to eventually see at the mile. You are the reason I heard about the Texas Mile and why my brother and I raced there this past March. We are also going to be back in October targeting 180 in my NA 5th gen Camaro.

many ways to make a 2,000+ LS stay together for a very long time. Nelson Racing Engines has been shipping 2500 HP LS engines out their doors for like 8 years now...total daily driver engines. You can drive across country with them. With 2 yr/24,000 mile warranties if you don't change their tune. A couple guys here in Lauderdale have them.....they're like 5+ years old and driven every weekend and roll raced weekly. No issues yet. You just have to figure out the secret recipe for success. ------ But being able to built it yourself is AWESOME....... I just built my first 390ci 6.0L iron LS with the guidance every second of the way from an LS guru builder teaching me. Its a pretty rewarding feeling.

Hello young man I know you are young in this type of work but I want to congratulate you because you are one of the first people that made the correct choice on your rod and piston combination I see so many people all consumed with how long the connecting rod is when in fact what they should be consumed with is piston stability because that is far more important. Also us Old-Timers in the the business we don't call them hoops we call them o-rings It's called o-ringing with a receiver groove and that was an excellent choice for this application Anyways congratulations and good luck with your future endeavors. Getting compliments from professional engine builders like myself are hard to come by most of the time they won't say anything but I really appreciate young people coming up in this type of work and trying to make something of themselves If I can ever help you with advice just send me a message but looks like you're on your way to a successful future. BTW I might have ran a little different camshaft but we'll see after you test it. Good luck from Brian @ Salter Racing Engines.

I need to play the lottery more often, when he asked at the end of his video how much it costs to build an engine like his, I looked at the table and 40 grand came to mind and when he said $40,000 I knew I needed to buy lottery tickets this weekend.. I will watch every video in this series as I am a hp junky and am like sponge when it comes to eng building knowledge.. Great video, keep em coming. Cant wait to hear it run. I do have 1 question, I always thought one needed to know head flow before choosing a camshaft. Correct me if I'm wrong..

I do top fuel hoops on my kitchen table. There is a $2600 tool that makes it easy. I think its made by BHJ. I order the hoops from Visner Racing. I pretty much top fuel hoop everything I build for boost. And you want to use Hylomar as a sealant on copper gaskets according to Clark Gaskets.

So just to give y’all some context, those aren’t top fuel hoops they are called flame hoops, or referenced as o-ringing the block and head. Also he isn’t running a Cleveland design crankshaft he is running a ls crankshaft designed with Cleveland main sizes. Changing main and rod journal sizes has been done for ages. The crank was not machined on the outer surface of the bobs, it is side drilled instead of end drilled for weights. That cam with a 116 lobe separation will make grunt down low but it gonna not be good up top. That cast iron block is not going to last at his projected rpm and hp levels the harmonics are going to destroy it with cracks. At the power levels and rpm he is planning on and also planning on methanol he should be running aluminum rods they help cushion combustion blows and harmonics in the crank, and are more forgiving than steel rods when pushed to the limit. He talks about long engine life but runs wrist pin buttons on what is going to be a drag and drive motor. Wants to spin the motor to 9500 but runs link bar lifters and not keyed lifters to increase valve train weight. Could this make 3,000 hp at 9500 yeah I can make 2000 out of a stock 6.0 ls with enough fuel and air from a giant turbo for a dyno run then pick up all the pieces after which is what I think he is going to be doing.

Cast iron is not as malleable as aluminum: He probably has a point. Those are insane rpms for a V engine for the non dragster folk...but it seems like he had a lot of good tech support with the parts hopefully. Definitely not a daily
@ihavethedocuments2580
@ihavethedocuments2580 3 месяца назад
As far as copper gaskets: that will create electrolysis in contact with cast iron, or any dissimilar metal. Not a big deal to the top fuel techs because they rebuild the engine after less than a bakers dozen of runs.

Side loading with short rods offset any by the tall skirts? Also, formula 1 guys found power in burning oil in the combustion process to the extent that the FIA issued a rule limiting oil consumption per race I believe.
