Not sure on the new displacement. If you only bored 20 over and nothing else it didn’t change much. Maybe 2.6l but that’s just a guess

Yeah they work, but def want to have a machine shop check them before install.

I dont think he's using Toyota 2jz rods. They are rods from a website called 2j-racing. They sell parts for the qr25 engines and other stuff.

That was all done at the machine shop.

Typically the groves go on the block side where there is an oil passage for oil to get the the bearing surface .

@@chrisbuildsitall I think you're talking about the grooves on the bearings? I meant the mounting slots in the engine block. As you can see in 7:00 and onwards, there are machined grooves both on the upper block part and also on the lower, however the lower block grooves are very tiny, so it would hardly hold any thrust bearing. You installed the bearing halves only on the top block, which I think is correct, but why there is slots also on the lower part if none bearings are going to be placed there? Also an exploded view of QR25 engine shows how there should be 1pcs upper bearing and 1 pcs lower bearing (even partnumbers mentions upper and lower) which confuses even more, as there certainly is slots for 2 upper bearings, and the lower ones are only a slight notch so I doubt any bearing could be assembled there.

The car ran amazing without needed any type of tune. I wound up selling it to another b15 enthusiast so I could move onto other projects.

I spent around 3k all said and done. No turbo but you can if you wanted do light boost.

High compression is a little more tricky to boost but it can be done. I could of ran probably up to 9 psi with my setup.

The B16 engine is a little different, bolt up the same but the B16 Spec V engine has better internals and intake.

where would i find the service manuals does nissan still sell them or do you have buy a third party pdf ?

No, boring over won’t make it faster. Allows for a larger variety of aftermarket pistons though. If you want the best possible option have the block sleeved, then you can up the compression or turbo it

They are pretty much the same engine, I believe the qr20 has a shorter stroke. Check out a B15 Sentra forum they have all the information. I’m pretty sure the qr25 has a bigger aftermarket.

@@chrisbuildsitall ya 2jracing and DNA motoring have a descent amount for the qr25 according to the dudes at 2j the qr20 accepts most of the qr25 aftermarket parts. So ima jus do trial and error that's the best way to find out thanks for your reply

The engine block and enternals are the same yes from 2001-2006, starting in 2007 the Spec V Sentra has a much better 2.5 than all other models. Obviously intakes and exhaust are different from car to car.

@@chrisbuildsitall so, i have a 2012 frontier. And the used engines are going for close to $2k.. but the 2.5 for cars are going for like $600... but I keep hearing that it will not fit the truck. Of course, i would use all the accessories, intake, etc from the truck

@@JCortes001 don’t get the engine from a 06 or older they have pre cat failure that ruins the motor symptoms are :burning 1qt ever1000 miles or less and low compression

Never got around to tuning. Just ran it in stock ECM and ran fine

Internally I believe they are the same as the one in the Sentra or Altima 01-06. If I were you I would get it all from Nissanpartsdeal.com or all least get all the part numbers from there to order off Amazon or eBay. You can get a whole kit from 2JRacing but it’s literally just all the Nissan parts pulled together and sold for more.

My first engine build from a couple years ago shows all the part numbers also I believe.

QR25DER Crank. Just as good as the discontinued B16 fully counterweighted crank but ALOT cheaper

They told me that I couldn't put a 6-speed transmission in my car mine is 5 speed

No, it’s a first gen. 2006 motor, 2nd gen started in 2007 I believe.

@@chrisbuildsitall yes it did, just curious to see if the 2nd gens are a better starting point since they addressed a few of the 1st gen's flaws. I forget if the 2nd gen still has the balancing shaft setup.

It was around $1500 for everything.
