Hello everyone and welcome to a new video!
I thought it might be useful to do a little intro (I ended up rambling, I'm sorry) about my next few projects. They are all bound under one theme and that is MY WARDROBE. I have decided to make more items for my day-to-day wardrobe. This is due to a lot of different things: I'm tired of making things I never get to wear, I feel better in historically inspired items and I can work on bettering fit and finish through these projects.
I already have two 1940s dresses, both made following vintage patterns.I have my 1890s skirt and an early Edwardian long skirt. I have plans to make two shorter mid-century inspired skirts, and four blouses, all from different decades. I have plans to make one more fantasy/witchy dress and maybe a couple of vintage dresses using other vintage patterns I have.
Overall I am really excited for this! I want to wear more 'me-made' things. I want to wear the things I've already made more.

I'm doing the exact same thing this year! I had gastric sleeve surgery and have lost over 106 lbs in four months so I'm starting by modifying existing pieces and making a few more skirts

Don't forget scarves and shawls and jackets! Jackets can be upcycled from men's stuff, too.

I’ve found loads of fabric prowling the thrift shops by looking for curtains made with fabrics I like. I deconstruct them, wash the stuff and prep for use.

The struggle with expensive vintage wear is real! I love dressing vintage, but I have to make everything it is just way cheaper . I am looking forward to the pretty things you will make ^^

Looking forward to your future projects. I made a skirt of an 18th century style pattern, and petticoats and I wear it with ordinary modern tops/jumpers. Seriously the best skirt I own, and I made myself some tie-around pockets to wear underneath, big enough for my mobile phone and purse, leaving me hands free with allllll the pockets, and swishy comfortable skirts.

I can't believe I'm just finding your channel just now, but I'm really excited to see your journey for your new wardrobe! I actually am doing the exact same thing for myself! I too am very inspired by Rachel Maksy-shes so creative! I'm sure I will also be even more inspired by your journey as well ☺️

Vests feel very vintage to me and I've got several patterns waiting for me to see if I like them! Extra pockets, you don't need a lot of fabric, versatile, which could be a good fit for the wardrobe project. Also a prevalent staple in Rachel Maksy's wardrobe!

I enjoyed the video. I too am looking to make some vintage style clothes this year. I am drawn right now to quite a few 40’s clothes. I understand what you mean not finding my size. I am a plus size lady. Not 40’s plus size but now American plus size. I never like the way store bought fits so I’ll make my own that will fit perfectly.

I have no idea what may be the problem or how it could be fixed, but fixing the loose grate could be as simple as duct taping it down around the edges or something, for your own sanity and the relief of your viewers. We would be ever in your debt.

It's on a busy high street so there are cars constantly - I've reported it to the council and am hoping it gets fixed soon! It is right outside my window and constant every few seconds every day, it drives me nuts 😩

Really looking forward to see what you make. I am also working on making more vintage clothes for my wardrobe because as much as I love the hunt, it's nice to be able to make exactly what I want AND knew that it is going to fit.

I've planned a wardrobe with bare minimum for a week use. Take in acount 3 baths a day, 2 outwear/day and 3 rewear for bottoms and 2 for tops (whith slips and removable dress guards thats quite achivable even in hot weather). Slips should be changed every 12 hours. 14 slips Shapewear (bras, bum roll, petticoats as needed) 7 Tops 5 Bottoms 2 Outerwear (24 hours rest before rewear) 2 Shoes (24 hours rest before rewear) 28 pieces + Shoes. Looks achievable. For an easy and cheap version you couls buy jersey knit 100% cotton camisole slips + cotton flanel and cotton crepe and sew you cheap and beautiful wardrobe. If you are going extra go for: Linen bias-cut slips Tops and bottons on quality fabric. My examples are for a summer country: 7 Blouses in combed cotton 300 threads percal or 400 threads egypcian cotton. Four short sleeves, two 3/4 lenght and one full lenght. 5 Skirts made out of linen or cotton. Deep zippered inseam pockets. Sew in interface at the bottoms. 1 Gauze wool overshirt 1 Cotton trench coat Maybe add a silk house robe to suit your fancy. Aprons are a good idea. A very minimalist wardrobe, double the amounts for two weeks. Realistically you would be doing laudry every 3 days. If you want to laundry every week have 2 weeks worth of clothing. It is very important that every piece is of utmost quality in order to ensure long lasting. Even if possible I wouldn't go any less than that since it would put each garment in toi much stress.

Great idea. With your weather you can wear the 1920's to 1940's in spring and summer and the Victorian and Edwardian in autumn and winter. Can't wait for the videos.

Simplicity Jiffy series (1970s) was my Mom's go to patterns. On one purchase she would make slight adjustments every time: Sleeve length or no sleeves, Chambray with embroidered daises Red bandana fabric with men's shirt buttons Hippie flowery fabric Suit lining fabric under lace material, etc. Patterns cost 0.85¢ and she wanted her money's worth ♥️

There is also a easy Victorian walking skirt pattern I found on line, from a book, that is like a panel ( across the hips and wide at the bottom) in front and a half circle in the back with a thin waist band. So it seems like a very quick sewing project for a walking skirt!

That's exciting news, that's how I got into sewing. I could never find vintage pieces in my size-so I started sewing my own👏. I mostly make 40's & 50's styles & incorp. Them into my modern lifestyle....you can follow along with me on Instagram if you want. I have a ton of vintage reproduction & true vintage patterns! I find while thrifting.
