Bless your heart for letting that adorable little guy “help”you with the construction. Little people want to be included and even when it slows us down it’s worth the effort to let them feel they are part of the process. As a mom, grandmother, and former teacher for 30 years, it just melted my heart to see his face as he got involved. You’re doing a great job. Remember, “Good enough IS good enough.”
Thank you! It’s so easy to just want to just get the job done. And there were definitely more areas I could have had him involved but I’m grateful for the moments we’ve had so far 😊
I think you did a great job., this isn’t something that’s suppose to be done in a day or even a month. It’s a meditation project , kinda like playing chess. I’m glad you didn’t quit 🙌🏾
Thank you for making a what not to do when putting together a dollhouse kit. Sometimes seeing someone doing the mistakes is better then seeing someone doing it the best way 😂 Because let's be honest most of us would do it exactly like you did it😂
Thank you for showing the reality of putting these kids together. I bought the Orchid one and it is still sitting half together on my desk. I too get frustrated easily and have a lot going on, demanding my attention. These are the videos I enjoy, where you show the realistic aspect of it and not an edited version of everything fitting together perfectly and it looking like a showroom finished product. That's what makes this special and your children will cherish it forever. Subbed.😊
I have an Orchid that is half-finished, too, lol. Gretchen, on Little Gretchen's Workshop, encourages us to enjoy the 'journey' of creating a dollhouse. My best recommendation is not to buy lots of furniture or other pieces because during our 'journey' we are likely to change our minds about styles. When I was younger, I would have died for a grand Victorian filled with every miniature imaginable. But now I like simple, 'faded' glory. :)
@@kelliepatrick519I bought the orchid before buying the Vermont farmhouse jr and I had a terrible time with the orchid. Green leaf dollhouses like the orchid just aren’t worth the money, I found it to be just a waste of money, the quality of the material is terrible. The Vermont farmhouse went together for me in a day and was such a better quality, Real Good Toys like the Vermont are such a better quality and I can see it lasting many many years and even generations to come.
I bought small 4 room kit decades ago. Opened the box snd got overwhelmed. So i tried to design my own roombox. Cut out the pieces of plywood I got and never got any further One day i was in a consignment shop with my husband and we saw the same house aiready built. It was marked down half of what they originally listed it for so hubby bought it for me. It's painted, wallpapered, has flooring, all windows are there. The colors aren't that bad and the hardwood floors they put in show some designs, not all the same direction. Whoever built it put in a fireplace. The spiral staircase was missing, but there's one in my kit. I do admire people like yuu who are brave enough to plow through. I'd be so distracted with kids there. Bentley House Minis channel has a dollhouse planning journal or binder or something where she plans out a project before she starts, colors, theme etc. There are so many great channels. I also really like Little Gretchen's Workshop because she somehow films up close to really show how she's doing something up close.
I can definitely understand the overwhelm! It is extremely daunting but it did get easier as I went. I will have to check out those channels also really enjoy @thesquaretospare she does amazing miniatures
Thank you for not being perfect and showing the mistakes. Some of the videos maked it look so easy. I have a dollhouse partially done when I bought it. Too scared to go into it. I have bought already made just need a makeover. Thx for sharing.
Honestly, I have NO regrets. It’s just the right size, not too overwhelming and very forgiving. Plus you can customize the rooms to your liking which is nice. I’m excited for you and your granddaughter! The memories will be priceless!
Great job! I know the frustration...I started my miniatures journey by building the RGT Victoria's farmhouse. I was more than a little shocked at how many pieces there were in that kit. However, it only intensified my interest in dollhouses. My Instagram feed is about 75% miniaturists and there are so many great channels on YT to follow. I really, really love that your little boy helped so much with the build. Maybe one day both he and your daughter will be master miniaturists. I look forward to more installments of your dollhouse venture.
He is having such a blast with it, right now we are working on the furniture and he’s been helping me paint all while playing with the characters it’s been fun to see that perspective
I think you are such a great mom.. I miss my mom.. what you are doing for your daughter and your descendants,, some of whom you will never meet, is so wonderful.. they all will be truly blessed.
Oh goodness, thank you! My mother started projects like this with me when I was little and they are so deeply ingrained in my brain that I can’t help the want to do the same for my kids if not 20 times more. I truly hope this dollhouse will make it multiple generations, but if it doesn’t, I have hope that the experience with my kids will last generations on its own.
It was FAR easier than I expected and I did it a very complicated way 😆 If you really wanted to you could always just put it together and then add details later so it’s not so intimidating of a project.
I’m building the same house right now and currently working on building the porch. I feel the same way - the porch has been the hardest part so far (and that’s after I decided I never wanted to see another shingle in my life after completing the roofs 🥴).
Hi you have done a great job fantastic…with little people around also.. I am in process of building the farmhouse purchased 3weeks ago…impressive how you found some place to get the job done ..house looks great . Girl power! Have a great day
Goodnight. Thank you for sharing your interest in making something for your baby. I am trying to make a house for my granddaughter, however due to being disabled I have difficulties. I would like to ask you a favor, if you could give me the measurements of the house from the outside and the height between floors. I will be eternally grateful. I wish you all the best. Thank you.
I really wish your commentary and tone was more upbeat, positive and fun. Dolls houses are supposed to be fun and you mention “having such a blast” right at the end, but the commentary was so depressing throughout 😅
