A little of our story:
Carissa, Iwan & Frankie decided one night over a bottle of wine that moving from North Wales to Portugal would be a good idea. Within a month they were on the road to Portugal to find the perfect piece of land to call their new home. We picked up Albi the cat along the way. Subscribe to follow our journey as we turn an old stone barn into our home, and learn the ropes of looking after a piece of land to make an abundant garden and one day, our very own winery.

Your figs will comeback next year. They need a really good hard prune every few years so they come back big, fat, juicy little balls of deliciousness! Your grapes are looking soooooo healthy. I used to make wine, stomped by virgins (my little children and their friends) we used to have a fab day with other parents of little children, bbq and lots of laughter, then the same all over again when we bottled the wine! The children have grown up and I miss the fun, I am waiting for grandies. I love your vlogs, you have it all ahead of you!! What fun 😀 !!

I would suggest digging up your mint & putting it in a pot. It will take over your ground only if you can't keep up with maintaining it. If you don't already know bunny poo can be used in your garden right away but chicken poo you have to compost it first. Donkey poo is great and they will help with some weeding. It would help if everyone living around you that you know who are youtubers should constantly support each other by putting their info down in your info and talking about them. Do you have a list of what you need too help you live a better life.

I wanted to give you my coleslaw dressing recipe. Mix equal parts yoghurt and mayonnaise, small can drained diced pineapple, a diced apple, and 1/4th teaspoon onion powder. I think it's 2 cups each on yogurt and mayo? Anyway, it fits in a regular canning jar when done. I keep it on fridge door. Hopefully that makes sense, my pills are kicking in...

Hi Iwan & Carissa. I am glad that you are going to matriculate the van so that you can use it for transport. Am pleased you had some much needed rain too because your plants needed it. Loved the wonky carrots - they always taste nicer than perfectly straight ones (that is most likely not true because they will taste the same).

Try using nail polish to write on the broken tile. It should last much longer. Brad Lancaster is an excellent resource for water conservation ideas on YT. Forgot to say...if you remove all the thick cabbage stems and slice the cabbage leaf really fine...dry it very well..use a Wok...lots of olive oil..heat. stir frying till crisp...put on kitchen paper role. Season with sea salt etc..That is how you can make fried "SeaWeed". Great decision about the van 👍

Yes, a very lovely vlog. It is a challenge to grow and garden in your soil but you are doing so well with it. Your little babies are adorable. The rain must be a welcome sight to water your garden. Those wild flowers are beautiful. Maybe you can keep a patch of it. Fires and heat waves are terrible here too in summer. I am impressed by the variety of veggies you have.

Hi, I throughly enjoyed your video, interesting and enjoyable. Your both on a great adventure....your veg are looking good and it's nice to try something new. I'd move your fig closer to your kitchen, even grow it up the wall, shade the roots once you transplant it. Tie it in to a espallier shape and enjoy the lovely fruits later in the year. I do love your grass flowers, it seems a shame to cut, they will come again. Stay safe, good news about your van.

You might want to try putting cardboard down instead of digging the weeds out Carissa. So much easier. Just pile all your compost and soil on top and the weeds disappear within a couple of weeks and don't come back. You could even rake up some of your strimming grass and use that as compost. Also chip your prunnings green so lots of nitrogen goes into the garden.

Shade, and Water conservation also is only part. Yes bugs, Bird shooting and heat exhaustion. I had to purchase a freestanding water cooler/heater. Have to buy purified drinking water,as main supply is too chlorinated. As I was watching this I was peeling 20 Mangos ready to freeze the pulp for blending Mango and Ginger drinks. I have given away dozens. 😅🥭🥭🥭🥭sure you could grow them. Love sleeping to the sound of Summer rain.

Have you read or seen any Utube video's about Jadam Organic garden food before.??? I mention this because every time I see you using the weed wacker on your grass it reminds me of all that nitrogen and carbon you have .. Hope you look it up. make a structure and maybe a back wall so when your paddling in it ( your water storage tank ) no one will sneak up on you's. Also make the roof over it connected to the corners but so you can lower the middle for collecting water when it rains.

Good that you are realising shade as a basic permaculture design point and are attempting to put it into practise.Suggestion: weigh your outside hanging curtains down with a beam - old tree stems or the like inside the bottom hem, then tie them down to a large rock or some stable fixture. Have you ever seen the RU-vid videos of Geoff Lawton ,"Greening the Desert." or an older video from the now deceased, Bill Mollison on Housing. These may give you ideas and be of assistence.

I wouldn’t encourage caterpillars in the garden, they can strip a plant of all its leaves in a matter of hours if there are dozens of them. I had a gooseberry bush stripped in a few hours. I had to cut it right back virtually to the ground. It took 12 months to grow back reasonably.

Funny to see the eucalyptus so far from where we are in Australia. While you’re on your walks collect the bits that fall on the ground for kindling if you have a fire. The natural oils, combined with the way it drops branches and bark all year round gives you access to plenty of fuel to start a fire.

Use a tiny bit of black food safe dye in the tank - it will significantly slow down the growth of algae, and is completely safe for wildlife & plants. You can also use a tiny bit of pool chlorine, as long as you wait 48 h to use the water for irrigation.

Looking at your outside pool/bathing tub would a chlorine pool tablet, not work to keep your algae growth down, would be fine for reuse into garden, we drain our splash pool into our garden to water the grass and flowers, we use a very mild chlorine floater for small pools in it and we do cover it with black round tarp type material, when not in use, we change the chlorine floater every 6 to 8 weeks, but tablets or granules work as well. If you do want to go complete chemical free, coarse salt also stops algae growth
