I like the idea of having plastic tracks for the experience and serious builders and the rubber tracks for the beginner and people who just want build the tank all in one kit like this one. That's why i love Tamiya its can be challenging on some models but fun and enjoyable.

I love your videos and have to say you've got what has to be my dream job! You mentioned how a lot of the weathering is subjective. I spent 8 years in the artillery when I was younger in a self propelled artillery battalion ending up as a chief of fire direction. In my first couple years I was the driver of an m577A1 command post carrier. One of the things that I remembered quite well was the fact that other than a barely noticeable sag of the tracks that was not something that was common. Now I know different armored vehicles at different times had much different maintenance and standard usage. The "nice sag" as you call it was just not there. My unit used m109A1 155mm howitzers and though as a fire direction computer had little to do with the guns, but being around them day after day I recall they did not have noticeable sag. That only seemed to occur when the tracks had somehow loosened or were damaged. I have seen old ww2 footage of various vehicles of that time and have seen many with sag, but not all. When I see that I just think someone was not doing their daily maintenance. It's not a big deal just a personal preference of mine I just don't like putting big, drooping sag on my models. It's just personal preference. Anyways love your videos and hope you continue building them for a long time

The weathering effects on the tracks are astounding, if you look on some war time photos they're identical, this kit is really as simple as good, as the real tank, lighter than a Tiger I but more powerful armed.

New tanks off of the assembly line are stored outside awaiting delivery. Since the tracks are bare steel, they rust like crazy but otherwise when operating on their own power, no rust. Park it for a couple of days in the depot and presto, rust again. Great job Andy.

Nice build Andy :) I've done the same IS-2 and I must say it was fun to build at first I used the rubber tracks but then I thought let me try out the track links but then I thought to my self why don't I give the tank its natural sag whilst being able to move so I used the heavy wired linked tracks. Did 432 with the Bear and Star insignia and hand painted the white stripes then dusted up the crew and tank and made a flag for them to wave out of toothpicks and a tissue lol dusted it up with a charcoal black chalk for soot and dust and used a rust toned chalk to rust up my tracks, yours seemed to look better than mine keep up the good work

I got a few Vallejo pigments the other week and one was titanium white pigment powder I wasn't to sure of it but bought it just to have so tried it out on my practice Sherman and waw! It's great for adding highlights and using for woren through pain streaks etc and it's really good for an ash look if you wanted to do a burnt out tank which iv never seen in a diarama yet so I'm thinking along the way of a burn out Sherman since it's just a practice model it'll still come in useful

@@rexiejay-3424 It is the result of a simplifiction. The cyrillic 'j' (й) and 'i' (и) is the same letter, but the j has a sign (I dont know the correct name for that modifier, its not an umlaut) over it. Even russians tend to left the sign because in their vocabulary the io and jo is pronounced the same way. The other common simplification is the 'jo' (ё) letter written by 'je' (е). Tipical example is the name of Degtyaryov (Дегтярёв), and thanks to this for a long time his name were written in the west as Degtarev. His name is a real veterinary horse, it contains a lot of russian languistic traps for those who know nothing about the language. By the way, the ё and й letters most of the time missing from russian typewriters. This is the other reason of the confusion. Tipically nobody bothered him/herself to correct the typos, not even in official documents.

Its the 1944 variant cause of the sloping front plate, the JS-2 standard type is the same as the JS-152 which you've built for us, Great work as always, Personally I would of used the fruilmodel tracks since they're easier to rust/weather.

I've seen vids of a few real tanks from collections, and the owners often leave battle damage intact (if that's the word). I'd like to see what you could do for impact divots and dings from aircraft attacks or anti-tank rounds.

Very great guide, Andy. If possible I would like to ask if you could make a guide for modern armored cars and their clear parts for lights, etc. I cannot seem to find a good guide on how to paint the clear parts and especially when. Should I paint them last and glue them on last or should I paint while building and mask them off? Which colors should I use and which colors will make a glass kind of look? I really hope you could help out with this as many modelers do old tanks instead of modern armored cars.
