I don't understand why people would want to have the boom in front where you run over the sprayed area AND get spray mist and fumes in your face while traveling into the air in front of you. Im planning on putting a tank on my mower but it SO easy and makes much more sense to just run the hose to the back and have the damn shit spraying behind you. My neck works so im sure I will be able to see the nozzels to make sure they're working. Already lost my dad to cancer so i dont think i need spray mist on me.. and all over the mower tires. Gotta fix mower tires now n then ya know.. the shit soaks in rubber.. I mean seriously.. put the boom behind!!
Some of the most famous cars ever built started life on a napkin !!! Great Job on the design and build. I was a mechanic for 40 years I and admire your skills.
@@PaulsPrimeCuts Great story about earning enough for the permagreen. I just found out about your channel thanks to LCN.( good call Allyn ) I'm up north so I'll be checking out the fescue videos especially. Thanks for posting and helping out a lawn dummy like me!
Man I wish I had the knowledge to do this. I use a wagon I bought off eBay and haul it with my hustler 60”. I’m trying to think of how I’m gone install a boom with my setup
I did a similar thing, I mounted a 15 gallon tank spray unit in a yard trailer, with a spray bar on the back of the trailer. and I pull it with my TORO zero turn mower. I mounted a 12v ASCO type solenoid and I ran a toggle switch up to the right handlebar so I can turn the spray bar off when turning. All that comes off when the trailer gets disconnected. I have a 1 acre yard, I spray when I mow. I turn the sprayer off every other pass. A two nozzle Chapman spray bar mounted 3 feet high on the back of the trailer sprays 12 feet wide with the big nozzles
Pretty damn sweet Paul. I want to make one for my 52" w/ 8gal tank(Just 2 or 3 nozzles though )with a valve to switch from wand to mini boom. I'm thinking of mounting the boom on back, maybe permanently. Let us know how well it works.
I was just thinking of doing something like this for my mower. Did you sell your idea to Tide Industries? I see they have a product that is pretty much your design. They published a video 6 months ago. It even has the old high beam on/off switch mentioned in a comment here. Great build though. Obviously works if it's being sold.
Rob Wright oh boy! I used my napkin but I will sit down when I get a few minutes and try to write it all down and put it up here. I got the boom pump and all the valves from a ag place here called central ag the steel all came from Lowe’s and the big u bolts came from tractor supply so did the bolts holding it together. I will try to make a video with or something with all the parts.... it works pretty good btw! Thanks !
Michael Day thanks buddy ! I still have to paint it and calibrate it just finished it up this evening still am going to do some other stuff to it , but I think I can use some for now
As soon as you said.. "I've got my plans drawn on a nah'kin" you got a like... hah hah Ok, question... How do you store it... I'm sure you're not spraying every yard... I watched the build a few times and trying to find a way to build mine where its easy on-off...
It’s very heavy when it’s full. I had to upgrade the bolts to some heavy duty leaf spring shackles. It came off pretty simple just a few nuts. The guy I sold it to still uses it as far as I know.
Looking like a good start to a sprayer. Hey...you set up gave me an idea that might help ya too. Go to a junkyard and get ya an old foot control switch for hi/low beams out of an old car. Would work Perfect for a foot controlled on/off switch for your pump. Because your on a ztr, you need to keep your hands on the controls. Foot operated pump switch would be the ticket! Just a thought, and its a cheap option too....LOL. Please provide more footage on how that sprayer works out for ya. I have contemptated doing the same thing with my walk behind while riding the velke for bigger applications where the walking boom refills would be an issue. Subscribing because I think you and I are working towards similar goals and challenges with applications. I hope we both make the $$$$ this year. Good luck!
rbljackson thanks! A on off for the pump is not a bad idea . The reason I’m using the valve shut off for the boom is to keep the pump running to the tank agataior (spelling?) they make all kinds of remote shut offs for the pump and even the valves just have to spend the money on them lol . I’ll keep ya posted as I use it more and figure more out ... good luck and thanks for checking it out I’m always open to new ideas when you get them!
I did really well ... I had to brace it up more and use leaf spring shackles to Mount it to the mower.... it’s heavy when full. You could make it with a smaller tank and get smaller tips to make it spray low volume... like 32oz per thousand vs 1/2 gallon
rbljackson it was a kit the guy at central ag got it for me it’s very heavy duty has teejet parts only like $160 I couldn’t have put one together for that
rbljackson I just changed the ones that came in it out for the longer ai tips like on my walking boom . It also came with #50 screens in the nozzle bodies I switched those out for ones with check valves so they don’t drip when I shut it off
Could you ask them what the kit was and where I can get one? I've found a few online, but the ones I've seen don't have the T-jet nozzles. So far this year is off to a frustrating start for spraying. Temps all over the place, and winds exceeding 10 MOST of the time....ahhhhhhhhhhhhh…..LOL
