Have you gotten any shifting of your tank since building it? We also just bought a 2500 gal. tank and not sure whether to go with concrete or a pad like yours. Thank you. Forney, TX
Hi Mary- we’ve had no settling at all. The base of pea-gravel works real well for us. If you decide to go that route, be sure to use pea-gravel, as it’s smooth stone. Anything jagged might cause a puncture in the tank. All the best!
@@rurallivingwithtyandlisa I rewatched the video twice hoping to see how you supported your 2x4's with rebar stakes. Can you explain how you do that? Thanks.
@@mandiegarrett1706 Hi Mandie- I used a sledge hammer to sink 5/8" rebar stakes against the outside edges of the 2x4 frame. The stakes were each approx. 24" in length and were pounded into the ground to a depth level with the top of the frame. I used 3 stakes per each side of the frame. The stakes prevent the frame from "bowing" outward under the pressure of the water tank on the gravel base. Hope that helps!
