I was once a meat cutter. I will never forget how to fold a bandsaw blade. I fold differently from you but unfold the same

hi Progress is happening. I hope the next Vlog shows the the complete boat skeleton; but I can wait. What type of plywood did you use ( Jouberi ) ? Is it a marine plywood or a multi layer general grade. Keep going it is interesting

You’ll get at least a sneak preview of the whole boat mould in the next video. Still working on it so I don’t know how it ends yet. Yes, that was Jobert marine ply. I will only use standard plywood in experimental prototypes or on easily replaceable non-affixed parts.

Lou from "Tips from a Shipwright" demonstrated on how to sharpen a band saw blade. After watching it I decided a new blade is, for me, easier too.

I remember that. I have experimented with a couple ways to do it with a dremel but wasn't satisfied with either way. Im currently building a dedicate machine that will do it automatically.

So what happened to the kid? Did he get his fingers sewn back on? I saw a similar thing in my Jr. High wood shop. A kid got his fingertip into the router when trying to round off a small piece of wood. Shop teacher just said, "Erik, walk (whatever his name was) to the office please." Ah, such empathy. So, I now know to keep my fingers away from router bits!

He lucked out. It was a metal cutting blade on the bandsaw. Got away with minor damage.

@@Nomadboatbuilding Thanks Mark! Love the videos by the way. You have the most meticulous builds, and top-notch quality.

Band saw safety: We had students where I worked and a huge BS they walked by that would coast with no e-brake. I built a "folding box" to surround the blade and post. It actually got used! Sighting those cuts: You could make an acrylic sight glass (plastic with red lines scribed) fixed to the post's guard in a horizontal position in front of the blade on a removable bracket. Lines left and right of the kerf, verified with a test cut before the real thing. A little less uncertainty on tricky cuts.

The sight glass is an interesting idea. Not sure I would ever take the time to set it up though. I’m kind of a “let’s just wing it” kinda guy.

@@Nomadboatbuilding Yeah, I get that.. I've not made one myself. It's still in my head. But now I might make one. I'll bounce you a pick when I do. Simplicity and ease of use will be some of the guiding principles...

Boring, too much talk, not much building. I don't have the time to listen to little content. Down through ten plates and nothing done yet... Goodbye!
