Hello and welcome to BOAB Models - today we are building the Ferrari F1 car used in 1987 and 1988 driven by Gerhard Berger and Michele Alboreto.
The Ferrari F1/87 is a Formula One racing car used by the Ferrari team during the 1987 Formula One season. The car was driven by Michele Alboreto (number 27) and Gerhard Berger (number 28) and replaced the Ferrari F1/86 used in 1986. For 1988, the car was updated to conform to the new regulations and renamed the F1/87/88C.

Correction - Berger did win 10 Grands Prix; 5 with Ferrari, 3 with McLaren and 2 with Benetton. Thanks for putting me right, Sarah Jane

I was given a 1/20 f189 Father’s Day here in NZ today. Just will need to get replacement decal. Also given a mclaren mp4/4 1/20. I enjoy watching you do the F1 cars.

Great gifts! I have the F189 kit in my stash too and bought replacement decals from Indycals. The only thing to consider is that they had issues with using Marlboro logos so their decals won't include those.

Nice build, should add that Berger’s first and last wins were with Benetton, his first was a great non stop with Pirelli tyres at Mexico, sorry for being a nerd :) The model came out great, you have a good eye for the small scale well done

Nice build. One suggestion. For the Italian GP, the rims were silver. Have you considered sanding the tyres to remive that shine? The rear tyres of these 80s F1 Heller kits are touch too narrow i think. Maybe some scrap Onyx models from 1991/1992 could fit?

Thanks. Ah, you're right. I was mainly using a more recent photo of the car as reference and that one had solid black wheels. I'll certainly be on the look out for alternatives in the future.
