I can’t believe it’s been a year since this was first released. This and “A Fairlie good idea” have both been really inspiring for someone like me who’s just building their first layout.

Wow, the progress on the Ffestiniog layout is just stunning. The bridges are just exquisite. Most definitely something to be proud of Richard

We had a great time filming this and hope everyone enjoys the end result :) Already looking forward to Part 2 :) Ps, during the live premiere I did notice a couple of people correcting some of my information so apologies for any mistakes on my part! It was hard to try and recall all the relevant information perfectly when the record button gets pressed! ;)

Great Video. Really enjoyed the mix of Richard modelling and Tony and Richard on the Ffestiniog railway. Big production team too for all those different shots. I smiled at the expanding foam - it's like there's an immediate rapid expansion and you wonder, have I put enough, but then there's a further stage 2 and slower expansion lasting a day and doubling the size.

This is useful to see how simple it can be. I actually model 16mm scale but some of this advice is invaluable and transferable to larger scales. I think the biggest barrier to any sort of modelling is people’s procrastination due to lack of confidence that thet dont have the basic skills and knowledge. Videos like this will really give people confidence to have a go!

Great Vlog by all at Hornby Magazine, I have a soft spot for the FR great mixture, 'Linda' being my first narrow gauge loco way back in the late 1970's, I didn't known much about persevered railways then, all the information I came across was from a NCB persevered railway leaflet. A part from seeing Richard doing a bit of gardening last year on O gauge it's about time we saw him build something! LOL. Tony's bit, was that a layout with departmental/track laying layout I used to watch around 2010's? if so I miss it! Richard watching the expanding foam, a narrow boat opposite me had bedroom fire due to a spark from the 12v electric system, reacting with the gases from the canister.

What an amazing video as ever gents, great idea with the expanding foam, a much cheaper way to making the scenery that's for sure. I have to say I never even considered 009 to be popular but having seen this video I'm now half tempted to develop a small fleet for a layout once the man cave has been made less like a colander. Looking forward to the next installment. Keep up the good work and stay safe gents Cheers James

The plaster bandage I put in position dry and used a water loaded brush painting water on top and the bandage would soften and re-dry in the shape required. Much easier to use than soaked bandage, and just as hard afterwards.
