Hello and Welcome to another video from Thomas at BOAB models. Today we'll be building AMT's Ghostbusters Ecto-1A and converting it to the Ecto-1 from the first movie. This required quite a bit of scratch building to go along with the repairs the kit needed due to its poor condition.
The car is based upon the 1959 Miller Meteor Cadillac based ambulance which shared much of its underpinnings with the Cadillac Eldorado.

Many thanks, I wouldn't normally buy a kit with so many missing parts but this one goes for a lot usually in the UK. I got it for a relative bargain.

Nicely done, especially considering how many parts were missing! I used this kit for my -1A and Polar Lights' kit for my -1. Round 2 should have both somewhere in their archive, but for whatever reason released this one and told everyone it was good for either movie.

Oh yes, I've seen the Polar lights one online - both kits seem to sell for too much money in the UK right now.

Liked and subscribed. There IS a proper Ecto 1 kit as well but I agree with your rating just the same. I would really love to see a full detail, quality kit of the original car.

Thanks very much. Yeah, AMT reboxed the Aoshima DeLorean and that has so much detail compared to this. It would be great to see an updated Ecto 1

nice work saving this one. i still have one on the shelf, but don't remember if its ECTO-1 or ECTO-1A. now i'm curious and will check the shelf when I get home from work.

Hate buying kits on "StealBay" and find out there are parts missing!! Nice recovery scratch building the missing items. It'll look great on the shelf. The rear wheel section that covers part of the wheels, that I believe you called "spats" are called skirts in the U.S.. :~)

Thanks very much Steve. The seller said it was missing some parts but I don't think they realised how many! Now I just need to make space on the shelf - it's the longest car I've ever made!

And did you know he actually paid 1400 for ecto 1 in real life and 4800 in film haha big difference but think thats what the totally came to after they fixed it all up! Suspension etc

I didn't know how much it was in real life. It's crazy that the car was younger than the film is now in the present!
