I have children older than you two, and yet I feel so encouraged and inspired by your faithfulness to the Lord and one another. I believe the Lord is calling me back home. I am an independent contractor in the real estate world and my work can be very stressful. I am understanding now more than ever the toll it has taken on me over the last 16 years. I didn’t go back to work until our youngest was off to college and I am still working today. Grant it, I have a lot of flexibility, I don’t punch a traditional time clock but in my work if I don’t keep at it, then there isn’t a paycheck either. Thank you for the willingness to share the ideas that you believe the Lord is asking you to share. You are a blessing to many, young AND old alike. God Bless you both.

I applaud you both. I think more and more couples are discovering the financial advantages of bringing the wife back home. Homemaking is an art and science, and that includes asset management. Those cheesy fries are a fun example of good asset management. Well done!
This was a breakthrough moment for me! I’ve been thinking a lot how casual dining restaurants, fast food chains, and processed food came on the scene to accommodate women joining the workforce. This led to a slew of health problems, but also, you’re working a forty hour job to afford all of the eating out. Not at all how it was supposed to be. Women are stressed out 24/7 because of these societal factors. It’s ridiculous how we’re told it’s good for women to work outside the home, all while sacrificing her most important influence in making a house a home. I’m a young homemaker, and I truly appreciated this!
I am a single and I am now researching homemaking and a little about homesteading. A quick RU-vid search of "homemaking" brought me to your home economy video. This one is the second one I'm watching as I am preparing my new apartment. This video is so invaluable to me in this stage of my life. Thank you for speaking together on this topic as a couple. (Especially as a couple whose love language is quality time. I am with you in that. Working full-time and practicing self-care is expensive when there is no "home" to return to.) I've wondered why I make a salary, have my own place, and am yet always hungry, spending all of my money on prepared foods and frivolous purchases that I end up donating to thrift shops later. I will continue to follow your channel as I research practical homemaking.

I’ve been struggling in my homemaking/stay-at-home-mom role and your videos have provided so much clarity about why I’ve struggled (due to the lies I’ve believed & absorbed from culture), as well as giving me a whole new way of thinking about my family and my home! I would appreciate a podcast directed by the husband to other husbands or young men because there’s such a huge need of high quality content for men, I would love to share this with my husband and I will share this video, I think we can find good content for us wives but it’s harder to find something directed to men for some reason. I love your points of view and your lifestyle btw. I’m a nurse but I have been working from home as a remote worker the past year. The salary is way lower than it could be but we wanted to prepare for our baby because last year we lost our baby boy due the stress of working as I was working. I think it was a call to reality it was telling us we needed to do it differently. It’s still a little hard because I still work 8 hours at day, but it’s a more relaxed job and it allows me to do my homemaking. I’m hoping to be able to stay home at some point but we do have the mortgage payment, and some other expenses that while under control right now, can become a serious issue for us if we don’t plan carefully. Pay the house and start to save more money it’s our main goal right now. Would love to read a book from you guys and please keep making these 🙏🏻 you’re a great inspiration for us all. Thank you so much for this video! It was very inspiring! I had to come home due to health problems. I too don’t know what to say when people ask me what I do. I say I am a homemaker but I always feel guilty because we don’t have kids so I make sure to say I am not able to work right now and say where I used to work. Honestly I wouldn’t go back to work. I pray God heals me one day but coming home ended up being such a blessing! My husband works from home so we are able to eat in more. We followed the Dave Ramsey plan (not exactly like he said. We made it to fit our goals) and are now debt free. It cost us more me working than coming home. I love being a homemaker! I do struggle some days to do what I need to with my health but when people ask me what I do all day I am like I stay overwhelmed there is so much to do! Even though we are debt free it is hard to stay that way. I continue praying we can save for everything we need and not go back into debt. Now that I am home i believe wives should stay home with or without kids unless they really want to work.
I wish I could love this video. My hometown, where I still live, was for many years a thriving mill town, and then a furniture town. Both industries have been long gone for many years, and now it’s a drug town. I love my town, and it makes me so sad to see this happening. The home economy is so much more important than people realize.
Ah that is so sad when these small towns become a drug town. We lived in a town in Kentucky that sounds very similar to your hometown. Amen, if only people realized the power of the local economy!!
Your channel is such a blessing. My husband and I feel the same way. We have always had a vision for our lives and it includes me being a homemaker, raising our babies, and managing the home economy. Lord willing I will be leaving my job in August 2023. I am so excited but nervous for this next chapter. I have faith that as long as we stay true to our values it will all work out.

I just didn’t know how much fun it would be. We are both using our gifts to create and income from home, while raising our two daughters in God’s way. I love this page! My husband and I have been so inspired by both of your pages. You’ve definitely inspired change in our ideologies and about how we want to raise our daughter. For me as the homemaker, I feel a little lost as to where to start and almost wish there were a program to follow 😅 I want to be someone who cans and flash freezes food that I make, but I feel lost as to how to know for sure whether I’ve done it right so it won’t go bad. I’ve thought about drying my own herbs, but how do you know nothing is going bad or growing mold? With lettuces, I feel like it’s hard to get all of the pests off - do you have book recommendations for all of these things? Or if you’ve masted them, would you consider doing a video on your process? Love you both so much!
Julia! Thank you so much for this kind comment! You are always so encouraging to me! And I think the key with making sure herbs don't get moldy is the humidity level in your house. Some people will hang their herbs in a sunny window to help prevent mold- now this may lessen their nutritional benefits, but ya gotta pick your battles haha!
I have been home for 20 yrs. I tell people that I don't have TIME for a job. that is my answer to that question. But to be honest, it is very, very rare that I get asked that these days. I think the tide is turning & husbands are starting to realize the value in having a woman home. It is more the women that don't want to 'give up' the lifestyle of working & being 'independent'. People actually are amazed by all I do & I am seeing more & more of my younger acquaintances finally getting it. When I worked, we only were coming out ahead $40 a MONTH. We figured if we could not trim $40 somewhere, there was no hope for no matter whether I worked or not. LOL.

Your words on what our home will most likely look like and what we will most likely do with our time and money when both husband and wife are working... hard to hear because THESE have been my largest frustrations with regards to our life. I can't do the meals, I can't do the housework, I can't get up enough energy to provide the home life that my husband deserves (and he's so patient and loving with regards to what doesn't get done). I cannot, however, see a way out of my work. I can't explain it without oversharing, we don't necessarily require the money I make which good because we don't benefit much from it directly - it's the indirect "benefit" of preventing something from occurring that we have our eyes on... worse, it's not where our eyes NEED to be - on God. Prayer. That's the only way out. Prayer and trust in Him for an answer and trusting in Him for this season because, so far, there is no way out... yet.
This is so funny I just discovered your channel. A little bit of my story. I stayed at home with my children for 16 years and then went back to work part-time. I also work at trader Joe's and have work there for 5 years. I am treated very well at trader. Joe's and don't dislike working this job. But I do miss being home and taking care of my home. At the end of the day, I am exhausted and just want to sit. That means my husband needs to pick app the slack outside of his full-time job. I would love to make a change.
Hi! I totally understand what you mean!! Trader Joes is tricky because it is a fun environment and simple/can be enjoyable work and they do pay well. At the same time, I was exhausted upon coming home, so I understand!

I think when that time comes around, Lord willing, we will have an even greater home economy to be stewarding. A home economy should build year after year, so it would be foolish for me to leave our work to go work for someone else when the whole goal is to build a lifestyle of work around and in the home.

Hi April! I believe it was either "The Contented Soul" or "Walking Gently on the Earth" but her books aren't so much about practical building the home economy as they are about values. I haven't ever found a book that really is about the practicality of building the home economy. But if I do will will let you know!!

30:55 Meat is absolutely NOT necessary (or recommended) for "eating healthy"! The gross majority of people do better WITHOUT meat because meat is incredibly difficult for your body to digest, especially red meat. As someone with autoimmune disorder, like the majority of our society these days, meat is detrimental to good health!
