The words that "God notices " really got to me. I deal with a lack of appreciation from my 3 kiddos and my husband. But you e made me realize I'm looking at the wrong people for appreciation. I will be cleaning for God now. 😊 he notices my work and my homemaking. It's through service to him that I will keep a clean and godly home.

Amen sis! He notices when others don't. I feel you sis and that's what I remind myself that God sees the work I do even if others don't, it's all good He notices and marks it down so no need to stress and stress others.

The kids should start helping out too. Begin by giving them little responsibilities and gradually increase. e.g. "Hey kids, no tv or phones till the dining table is cleared. Kids #1 and 2, load the dishes in the dishwasher." This prepares them for adulthood and will def increase appreciation! Start with a chore chart 🙂

We often look at the scripture that states "work as unto the Lord" as being applicable to working outside the home but working as unto the Lord applies to the inside of the home first as your home is your first ministry. God sees what you do and everyone else will get it later.

Are not being lazy if you work and then take time to rest. People go, go, go and burn themselves out people pleasing, looking for approval, trying to keep up with the Joneses, and striving for success. That's a whole other problem. Being lazy is letting things fall apart around you and wasting time (like I am now 😂) I understand the lazy she is talking about and I struggle with it sometimes.

I have found myself getting in the habit of making sure that I have the house straightened before I leave the house. I make sure the dishes are washed before I leave. This makes me coming home feel peaceful instead of dreading what I should have gotten done. I like what you said about "done is better than perfect." I have adhd and I’m a single mum with special needs kids too. Time keeping and housework are my biggest struggles. I didn’t know I had ADHD until my 30’s and had been labeled as lazy at various times. It was hurtful and when I tried so hard not to procrastinate and to become more organised and failed each time it lead me to feelings of hopelessness and low self worth. When she said it doesn’t need to be prefect but to just get it done and also that God notices even if nobody else seems to care that really spoke to me. God made me the I am and he understands my struggles and so long as I am genuinely trying he is very aware that I am not lazy. God’s opinion of me is far more important than what others may think about me ❤

I have been praying to Heavenly Father to please help me be a better wife and mother and homemaker. I feel like He led me to this video. Every point you made is something I severely struggle with. I had a counselor once tell me You can choose your hard. You can choose to be depressed and overwhelmed and never get any satisfaction in getting anything done or you can get off the phone and clean the kitchen. How wonderful!!! Often laziness is a symptom of a deeper problem. I’m sure it can vary for some but for me it’s perfectionism. I spent years thinking…If I can’t do it perfectly I’m not interested. Until I moved my core value to trusting God in daily bread obedience instead of perfectionistic performance, that was honestly just to gain a feeling of superiority, I never made progress. A good rule for me is 15 minutes of work every hour. You can accomplish so much in 15 minutes. Also look around and find things to be grateful for don’t look for faults. God gave you everything you have don’t insult His gifts. Appreciate small things!!!

What works for me is to make a list of what needs to be done and check it off, a single check off the list motivates me to do another thing and at some point everything gets checked😊. I'm not perfect, I still have my "lazy days" and my husband always encourages me to take a break whenever I need to. But one thing I've just recently realized, if in my morning prayer I specifically ask for God to give me strength to do my housework for the day, its definately easier, everything just flows, I feel more energized😊

I do a deep cleaning once a week and the rest of the days I just pick up and organize when something is messy. I also gave my pre-teens a chore list to help me too because I want to teach them responsibility and to clean after themselves. My mother is a psychologist and a Pastor and she has told me that your mental, emotional and spiritual health is way more important than cleaning the house. If you are not mentally healthy you need to focus on that and leave the house alone. The house will always be messy but your mental health cant be permanent. Take care of yourself first then the chores. I have an aunt that is a clean freak and cant stand seeing the house messy and now that she is 65 years old, she’s sick and doesn’t have the same energy as before so she’s learned that her health was more important and now its to late. I prefer spending my time reading my bible, spending time with my family, helping others, doing things that are productive and uplifting for me and my loved ones. Cleaning is a waste of time for me. I’d rather pay a housecleaning company to do that so I can spend time doing the things I love and make me happy. That’s just my opinion and what makes me happy.

I love the saying “Do what you can. But be realistic about what that is” I use to make huge To-Do list because I felt lazy if I didn’t get EVERYTHING done but then couldn’t get it done because it was too much-which then made me feel even more lazy and incompetent… especially in the realm of social media and comparison. I finally realized that I had to be realistic about what I could actually get done in a day without neglecting my family and exhausting myself. Yes we all have 24 hrs in a day but not everyone’s 24hrs look the same. You have be realistic in what YOU can do and work from there. I actually rarely watch RU-vid videos anymore because it’s not usually a good use of my time (no offense) and when I’m doing chores I’m either multitasking with kids or using it as quiet time for my brain!

If it comes down to home making and keeping a clean home or time spent meaningfully engaged with my three special needs children I will choose those kids and my spouse every time . I do agree we waste so much time on phones and devices. I believe it is our responsibility to engage and play with out kids .Thanks for sharing your perspective .

I overwhelmed myself. My dad said enough is enough, just stop and go have fun. He even searches for events, last time he payed two concert tickets for me.❤ In honor for his generousity I take care of him and my grandmother. I wish God would send me a great husband who is gentle as Jesus. ❤

Hope you are not hard on yourself. It's not going to be easy looking after your kids, so make sure to be accepting and have some peace so you don't burn out. If you can get the older ones pitching in, that would be a great goal to reach. Kids give each other an example, so if the older ones get busy now you should have much more help for the future.

I have 5 children. Sometimes it makes it easier if you keep them all in the same room with you in a very controlled environment. Controlled meaning not much they can get into to make messes. The times they are awake and are not napping you can plan the play time so you are involved with this and there is no huge mess to ever pick up. Then during nap times you can do the real cleaning stuff quickly in spurts. Also you can involve the littles in helping… rags for each to dust or they can help sort socks or fold clothes to help put things away… you can make a game of it and play praise music, sing songs together , etc… Be the leader, teacher, mom you can be. Have a plan. You got this! God can help you do it! 😊

Thank you for this firm, but gently worded, reminder. It must have been very tressful for you to follow God's leading and post this. People are going to get offended, I'm sure. It's very easy to fall into lazy habits and patterns and then justify ourselves. I deserve a break, a reward. I just need to zone out for a but... etc. But alot of times a good stress clean is a way better way to get it out then doom scrolling or online shopping for all the things that will "fix it". I needed that reminder. I've been stressed about things ging on for us right now and let the house go too much. The kids follow my lead, and have gotten lazy as well. I need to step up and crack down on my own laziness, so I can help them learn to be more productive so we can enjoy our fun time guilt free.

I was praying for a long time about being motivated. Lord, please give me the motivation to get up and start. I am the type of person that once I get started I tend to go, go, go. My husband came to me today and told me he wanted to let me know he has noticed my efforts recently. That touched my heart and drew my attention to the fact that the Lord heard my prayers. Sometimes my energy is just so low. I feel depressed. I feel discouraged. I do often get myself trapped in cycles of doom scrolling as Tabitha said. I have felt so much more accomplished and motivated to continue keeping up on everything. I grew up in an unkempt house. The last month or so I've felt led to really start involving my young kids and teach them how to do chores. There is just such a difference. Now for the motivation and know how to keep up on menu planning. That's a big struggle for me too.

Loved this video! The balance of work and rest here with an emphasis on work. We seem to live in a day when work in a time where work is supposed to take last priority. We are encouraged to rest as much as possible, play as much as possible, and do the dishes whenever it suits us. I do not believe this is God’s original plan for us, especially as homemakers. As a mother to three, I believe it’s important that my children see me doing the dishes before going out to play with them and especially when I don’t feel like doing them! I believe it’s important for my children to see me folding laundry and doing house work. They are learning that I have a job to do and they too will have work to do when they become adults. My children are each other’s playmates. They have toys and I agree with Tabitha, it is not our job to entertain our children ALL the time, but this does not mean we are not enjoying them. I too often find this, enjoy your kids because it goes too fast. Just because you were working hard in your home. Doesn’t mean you are enjoying your family. You are the mom, not the playmate. But that doesn’t mean we don’t play with her kids and enjoy them.
@carolebyham172
@carolebyham172 Год назад
I should add, that we have family members who have an off balance of relationship and work. In both directions. I think balance is truly key. The mom and her family who has emphasized relationship over housekeeping, raised six sloppy children. They’re all adults now and rather dysfunctional generally speaking. The other side ended up being very functional, but definitely missed the warmth and love. So I definitely think there needs to be a very strong balance. Because if you constantly choose relationship over your responsibility in the home, your family might grow up to not have a strong concept of homemaking.

The definition of laziness is the quality of being unwilling to work or use energy; idleness. This looks very different for each person and as with everything needs to be assessed by your own situation. For those with a chronic illness just doing a little each can be enough for other women they have the energy but waste it on things that don’t serve their home and I feel this is the point - where is your energy going ? Is it going to the things that matter or being wasted , for some of us energy is our most precious and limited resource. I found great motivation in this video and will definitely use it for those days when I am in a slump and need a push 😊

Thank you so much for sharing these thoughts on laziness and how destructive it is. It affects you and those you love the most. Plus when you are not doing your best at creating a clean, well organized home, it affects your mental health. Work, especially housework, can be overwhelming. When we are having a difficult time staying motivated to keep tidiness, we need to focus on completing tasks one at a time. Make a list and check tasks off when completed. Before you know it, everything will be done. When I first got married many years ago, I worked three jobs. We were paying off cars and saving money for both my husband and I to be able to go to grad school. The only way I survived it was by making my lists. It kept everything running. I also knew this wasn't forever. I had never heard the Proverbs passage, but I wish I had.

Thanks for sharing this topic reminder on laziness. I may not be a wife and a mother, but I love when you pointed out some of the factors behind laziness. I was brought up being discouraged by my non-believing mother about not to even bother helping her out whenever I asked, thereby the long struggle of feeling helpless btwn perfection & laziness hating my mundane life. But I thank God for his relentless pursuit that caused me to accept the Lord Jesus, and through your encouraging video I can learn to be diligent (not hardworking) like an ant invisible to the ppl in the same difficult house, but not to God the Heavenly Father who sees in secret. 😊 Thank you for encouraging me and to those who put their trust in the Lord!

Pursuing a career as a machinist and doing school to gain deeper knowledge of machining. Working full time. I've been praying asking God to show me how to become a Proverbs 31 wife. This video provided such insight in a biblical way. I really liked the "Done is better than perfect" Progress over perfection". I tend to over think several things, which perfectionism kicks in, I then fill up with anxiety, and only criticize my own work. But this new way of processing will help wonders. Keep up the good work and sharing God's Word 🙏

The thing that helps me that I didn't hear discussed here (so I though I'd throw it in) is a task listing app on my phone. The best ones are synced between either phone or computer. You can list everything you need to do, including daily, weekly, every 4 days, one time, etc. It gives you a game plan every day, and it makes it very practical to do deep-clean things little by little. Big projects get overwhelming if you think they have to be done 100% all at once. It also applies to spiritual practices or other personal development projects people may want to do.
